  1. Anyone know of any doctor's for lapband in San Diego? What about the UCSD program with Dr. Horgan?
  2. Has anyone been very successful with one fill. I am debating on getting a second fill as the weight loss has slowed down. But I feel comfortable right now and nervous that if I get another fill it might cause problems or be harder for me to adjust to eating even less (in front of other people). I have noticed some people on here who have lost a good amount of weight, I did as well but not as much as them in the same amount of time. Does that mean I should get another fill?
  3. Hello,

Sorry I just got back to you. I haven't been on here in awhile. How did the seminar go? For me the seminar really convinced me to do the whole process. I was self pay and I think it is worth it. I think you have to mentally prepare for the procedure such as really changing eating habits prior to the surgery. The next part is consultation, and they decide if you need it or not or if you will be on a contract to lose a certain amount of weight. I think that was the hardest part for me to find out if they would accept me or not. It felt as though this was my last option and if they said no, I would have been devasted. The process went pretty fast since I was self pay, which I was happy about. The surgery made me nervous as I have never had surgery before, but it went great. I hope my info helped. Keep me updated on the process and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

    I have to confess....

I know I feel like I can eat more and more, but still try to keep it small. I tend to feel pressure to eat more in front of other people so they don't think anything. How do you know when you are full, is there a specific sign. I begin to feel pressure at times and I stop, but I feel that I eat a little more than what is allowed. Don't get me wrong I have been going by the book, but nervous that my mind is telling me ok to eat the food although it should be less.
  5. Yes, I can tell that my feet are getting smaller. My shoes are beginning to fall off.
  6. So I went to get my first fill and was nervous but excited to hopefully begin to lose more weight. My fears plus more came true. They poked me a bunch of times with the needle and still couldn't find it. They had two people try then finally got the actual surgeon to come and try and he still couldn't find it. I was pissed because I feel as though they should have done an xray prior to the first fill. Maybe I am the exception and they usually don't have difficulty, but it was not pleasant to say the least and dissapointing to have left without an actual fill. I hope this does not continue if so I may just decide to not have any fills. Please tell me I am not the only one who experienced this problem.
  7. They said they are going to do an xray next time then attempt again next week. Hopefully it will work or I will be really pissed off. Yeah I am kind of upset with their service because they are like call us if we don't call you by friday. Seriously? I totally agree about what was said above, they placed it there. They should know. This next time I am only going to let the surgeon attempt the fill, and no one else. It's like I know I got over the major part...surgery, but this is aggravating.

    First Fill

Wow, they were going to give me 4cc today. I guess that is a positive, especially since they only cover for 90 days post op...then you gotta pay for them. But it did not work out, they didn't find it as easy as you guys. I wish they had so that I can begin feeling more restriction thus lose more weight.
  9. Thank you so much. I am sorry to hear about your port coming loose. I hope that is not the case with me. But it was not a good experience. You are right I need to continue with the process correctly. I am debating on not getting a fill but will try again. Thanks for the support.

6 days post op and starving

So does that mean drinking something like a jamba juice or some type of fruit smoothie was ok for you on your post op diet during full liquid phase?
  11. If you don't mind me asking why did you need port surgery? and what is low profile port surgery?

    Hi everyone

WOW! That is great. I hope to be there one day. Did you excercise a lot?
  13. Ok, so I recently began the pre-op diet and surprisingly I am doing fine. However, I am getting tired of eating and drinking the same thing. Does anywone have any info on what else they ate/ drank while on pre-op liquid diet. So far I have been doing the protien shakes, jello, yogurt, cottage cheese, broth soup. I feel that I need to change it up though, so I don't get tired of the same thing. Please help with any advice.
  14. I am only on day 4 too. I am trying to figure out other things of substance to eat as well. I actually think I am eating way below the calorie count I should be eating. The diet is so strict but everything they want you to eat is like 100 calories or less. By the way side note, I love your quote. If you find a way to "jazz it up" please let me know. Have you tried cottage cheese?
  15. I think I can only eat broth, no cream of anything. The diet is pretty strict.
  16. You look great! Do you have any before pics?

  17. You are inspiring. I couldn't believe your before pic to now. I am the same age as you and about to be banded soon. I hope I have such great results like you did.

Im going to have a panic attack

I felt the same way, my surgery is coming up soon and I expressed some concerns to my mom. She told me, "It;s just another day at the office" for them (the surgeons). It really made me feel better. I think sometimes we think of the worst and afraid of the unknown, but that statement really calmed me down and I am not as nervous anymore. Also like the person above me said I think the doctors will provide you something to calm down prior to surgery.

    Newbie

Congrats. My surgery date is June 10th. I don't know if you know but there is a group forum where people who are having an upcoming surgery in June can be a part of.
  20. I know once someone is banded they lose weight at a different rate and the elacsticity of the skin is different. However, I wanted to know from the people who have been banded and who are in their twenties or younger, if their skin bounced back after the weight loss or do they have problems with extra skin?
  21. My surgery date is June 10th. I am excited and nervous at the same time. Does any one have good ideas for what to drink during the 2 week pre-op liquid diet? Any words of encouragement or advice to keep me excited rather than nervous (or have second thoughts) would be greatly appreciated.
  22. I had seminar in early April and my surgery date is early June (a little over two months). I am self-pay too so it made the process a lot quicker. However, you might have to be cleared for certain things prior to surgery which may delay the process.
  23. I am looking for a good doctor located in San Diego. I am interested in the UCSD program but my concern is it is a little pricey and the price includes treatments only 90 days after surgery. I have been noticing other programs that offer a year of service. I know you get what you pay for so I am not looking for the cheapest route, but I just want a good doctor with good post-op services.
  24. I completely agree with you. I am so jealous you are going as soon as next week. Good luck. I wish you the best.
