    Getting Banded Feb 20th!

Oh and I just saw about the sleeping pills! You poor thing! Seriously, DO NOT WORRY! It will be fine. In most countries it's not even a big deal. People get it done all the time in Europe and it's barely considered major surgery. I noticed that I definitely pigged out prior to my surgery though -- sort of the "last meal syndrome". Just relax, and focus on the fact that you could be 100 pounds lighter this time next year! I know that's almost hard to imagine, but do it! Life is too short for fear and sellf-hate. You will be absolutely fine!

    Getting Banded Feb 20th!

I just got banded on Tuesday and honestly, I wish I had done it MONTHS ago! I've heard somewhere about an 80/20% rule -- most people spend 80% of their fear and worry about the surgery and 20% worrying about life after the surgery and meanwhile it should be the other way around! I just made the decision that I couldn't fight this fight anymore and just put my faith in God and in my great doctors (Dr. Rumbaut). Sure, liquids aren't the best but it's really not that bad. I've certainly eaten enough food in my life to be able to go a few weeks. I'm almost sick of food!!!! THe pain sucked on the first night and then it's really amazing how much it went away. I was up and walking the first night and feeling really good 48 hours later. I'm still sore at the port-site but honestly, I just keep thinking about the fact that I really COULD BE SKINNY for the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!!! That's the best inspiration there is! Don't be scared of the surgery. Changing your life is much more scary but IMHO it's never too late if you believe in yourself! Good luck!

What does everyone do for a living?

HI! I am a corporate lawyer in NYC! I definitely hear you on office clothes. I just got banded on Tuesday and honestly the inspiration came largely from the fact that I no longer fit into a SINGLE DARN SUIT and I just refused to spend more money and buy bigger clothes. It made me not want to even go to work at all or get out of my pj's. I really hope and pray that the band will work for me and WITH ME so I can look forward to opening my closet in the mornings! Good luck!

    Mexico vs. Wishcenter

Just had my band inserted on Tuesday with Dr. Rumbaut. Back home yesterday and getting used to my fluids. I cannot advise you more strongly to go with Rumbaut! The whole experience was very positive. He is definitely the "rock star" of the lap-band world and even the cab drivers in Monterrey know who he is! He's a little cocky of course (all good surgeons are) but that's because he's done about 3500 Lapbands and is THE pro. He's got a state of the art office and the hospital room was absolutely gorgoues (private room, hardwood floors, clean and pristine, marble bathroom, etc.) My mom came with me and was very nervous about the whole Mexico thing but after the first day, she was 100% convinced that Rumbaut was the right decision. Monterrey is a very rich city. Almost everyone we saw were businessmen (population is much more "Spanish-Mexican" than "Indian Mexican). BUt what I really loved the most is the personal care. Rumbaut has several younger doctors who work for him and they're constantly checking on you, coming by the hotel to personally deliver meds, etc. If it was the U.S., you'd have to go to THEM and not the other way around. My ONLY complaint was ONE nurse (out of many) who had very poor English skills. Everyone else spoke fluent english. I could not recommend Rumbaut anymore. I'm a Harvard educated lawyer from NYC and definitely did my research on him professionally. He is very compentent and I never once doubted that I was in good hands! Good luck!

    That &*#%ing Head Hunger

Hi, you guys are so funny. I really appreciate this site. I've been reading it for a while. I'm getting banded on Tuesday in Mexico and I'm really, really nervous. Not just about the surgery but about the major life changes that come afterwards. I REALLY fear the head hunger and the risk that I may be one of those people that "beat the band" and eat chocolate all day. I'd really like to post a new message but I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. Can someone explain to me how to post a new thread??? Thanks so much to everyone and good luck to everyone!!!
