The company I work for has a 30 day turn around time for appeals. You receive a letter with the decision within 30 days and it includes the name and number of the processor. I know this is a heavy burden for you and your family right now so my prayers are with you. Always remember you have the right to appeal an appeal. But hopefully you won't have to worry about that. -
Hi all! I was banded on the 8th! The whole experience wasn't bad just uncomfortable. I thought the worst going in and called everyone the night before just to say I love you! And when I got back to my room I kept asking why did I do this? But I am glad I did. I was scheduled to be at the hospital at 545am but I didn't even get into bed until 1am. I got to the hospital changed immediately and things just flew from there. I remember being told to think of a good dream and the next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. I had a little pain but mainly I was just uncomfortable. I was able to give myself pain meds every 10mins but it really wasn't necessary. Being hooked up to the all the wires was more aggravating than anything else. One thing I did keep saying was how can this surgery be done as an outpatient procedure. I can't understand how some doctors send patients home the same day. Once home I think I took pain med 2x. I feel really good! And unless the scale is lying to me I've lost 11lbs so I am really excited about that. Oh by the way, right now my incisions look great! I really thought I would have these horrible scars but now I am not so worried. Best of luck to everyone. Again I am glad I did it!

Call your dr's office tomorrow and advise them that the precert they obtained was for outpatient surgery and not inpatient. Also advise them that you are being balanced billed. They can call your insurance co and have them change the precert from outpatient to inpatient. The only negiotating the facility will do will be a payment plan. And you shouldn't be paying anything extra if you can get it covered. If all else fails...appeal! Good luck! -
If your dr. isn't requiring you to see that particular psych and you have mental health benefits thru your insurance, try to find another participating provider. $500 is still alot to put out upfront. Especially if it is a covered benefit. And it's just supposed to be an evaluation.

Hi TDeRo...I am being banded by Dr. Ramachandra at Mercy Fitzgerald in Darby. I am impressed with the team. And the process doesn't seem to take long. I had my initial consult on 033108 and was approved 2 weeks later. Everything moved along so quickly. Give them a call. 610.534.6170.

Hey Tamspri! I am also scheduled for the 8th! It's nice to meet you!

Hey ladies! Nice to meet both of you. I've been browsing this site and find it extremely helpful and encouraging. What doctor are you working with?

Hey! $1200 is ridiculous. On average I've seen people pay between $150 and $250 for nonparticipating providers. It may be a little different depending on the area but not a $1000 difference. Keep searching. And good luck.
