....Jack... erm.. I didn't know you had laxative powers. good to know. Now then.. DeLarla. Let's do this in stages. Stage 1: Awwww you poor girl (((((HUGS))))) Stage 2: Its possible your body is lacking Protein, Water, or Vitamins. Try hard to cover those things first k? Stage 3: If you do pig-out, I may have to come to your bash down in Vegas and smite you in the eye with a 1 pound polish sausage dog. You HAVE been warned. (This message has been written in the new caring all-things-to-all-people style).

We just got a nordic track treadmill from Sears for 800 that has a 300lbs limit. I think so long as you are walking gently and without an incline it 'could' be okay. It also depends on just how much and how hard it has been used in the past. Of course (and this coming from a man buying a treadmill) the outdoors is there you could use that until you get that 19lbs off. It won't wear out!

Of course I am entirely aware of all this, but it is a "microFact" that people can do with as they will. I'm merely saying that to me - its alarming to see two bands, installed in one facility, go bad and need to be removed within a few days of each other. Of course, this doesn't indicate 'when' they went bad. It also might be an interesting factlet (which is why I have it included) on just how long these folks have the band installed before it is removed. Right now that statistic doesn't mean much, but if each erosion starts falling into a statistical pattern (200 bands eroded with an average of 500 days for example) it might start proving useful. The main point I have stressed (from the beginning) is that until there is a huge amount of data, all of the information isn't trully viable as a statistic. So recording band removal date is actually usefull for me. Just like we've talked about on other threads, take what you want and throw the superfluous stuff away

I personally think one of the beauties of the Lapband is its lack of malabsorbtion. It makes for a healthier diet and less reliance on suplements. Also it means no dumping which is a charming side effect of malabsorbtion. It also means you have less stinky BM's which is also a good thing, as I wouldn't go within 20 yards of a bathroom that my former boss had visited. Lets think on the positive, the lapband is the WLS that leaves you with the most 'normal' digestive system. Restriction without complication (other than PB and things getting plain ole stuck). Oh, and as for slapping me in advance Donali, I guarantee I deserve it, or will deserve it within the next 24hrs, so have at it

I think that illustrates everything. If you need a big loving hug, you can get one here. If you need a swift kick in the pants, you've come to the right place. If you need advice, you'll find an abundancy. But.... If don't need a hug and you need a kick in the pants, and know what you need to do. You will get HUGS and you will get a kick in the pants and you WILL get advice. The same can be said for anything. In each thing there will be sympathy, advice, and probably one or two "WAKE UP you DINK!"s. Take what you need, throw the rest away. We can't know what you need. So we'll all give what WE think you need. Instead of getting hurt, think "they probably were thinking I needed to hear that, but I can't deal with that today". There.. thats easy isn't it? If you can isolate your emotions and think like a robot that is. I will hurt you one day when I try and help you. I won't mean to, but I will. One day I won't give you sound advice. One day I won't give you a hug when you need it. I'm human. Always trying to do what's right, but what I think is right, might be wrong for you. So, in an attempt to be all things for all people: (((HUGS))), You know eating unhealthy is bad for you, why don't you try and divert the desire from food to something more healthy? Now you need to shape up and get with the program!!

Very welcome. Its actually not hard work Excel does the whole thing. I'm too lazy to work hard! Now I just need about 300 more folks to post and this will start really showing great data. And one or two Lopez 'non erosions' would be great. Right now the poor guy is 3/3 on erosions! Scariest MicroFact so far. Two people banded on the same day, one by Ortiz, one by Lopez, both eroded WITHIN 10 days of each other. I think it was 605 days installed vs. 608 days installed. Thanks to all that have posted, and any who haven't - come on! join in and lets not make the numbers so bloody scary!

**** The following message is entirely for humor only, it is not intended to hurt, harm, deride, annoy, offend, or malign anyone *** Scares the crap outa me. Someone goes by, opens their garage door and boom. No restriction! Kids in mealtime could have fun waiting for you to take a bite just to produce a spectacular PB! On a serious note though, aint technology amazing?? (oh, hope the new disclaimer suits everyone, I figure i've stepped on enough toes this year).

I think its the same food demon that can cause people to eat themselves to 600, 700 and even 1000 pounds. I think Demon is an excellent choice of word. Even the non-religious will likely admit to having absolutely no control over their eating habits and it was almost as though they are possessed. We mention the band IS a tool. It isn't a cure.

Self-flagellation.... drool dawg like self flagellation.

It's a case of cold turkey, or weaning. Some can wean themselves gradually, and some can just scream NO MORE. I see this as the hardest addiction to get over. This is like alcoholism where the alcohilic is required to drink 3 small low alcohol drinks a day. Equally, some of us need a hug, some of us need a slap. Just so you all know, I'm to be slapped, REALLY HARD. If anyone ever has a post from me say "I screwed up!" I grant you all exclusive permission to use me as a punching bag for 24 hours.

Human nature is a horrible thing. Not only do we have the ability to be horribly mean to others, we particularly skilled at being mean to ourselves. I can destroy the smallest victory I have in a heartbeat. I think my best today was: "Cool, I've lost four inches in my waist!" followed two seconds later by my wonderful brain saying "great, now your just a really fat bastard, instead of an obese fat bastard". The cry is often "When will we ever learn to get along?". Probably about the same time we learn to get along with ourselves. Oh, and probably shortly after we learn to govern our mouth (or in this case, fingers) so that whatever spews out of our brain doesn't immediately splatter onto everyone's screen. My, that was a right purty way of putting that, even if I do say so myself.

I have a sad admission. I have now eaten Tuna so long (about two or three cans a day) that albacore tuna actually tastes like bacon. I figure this may be a mental defense mechanism or possibly a side effect from eating 12 to 18 ounces of tuna, every day, day in, day out, for close to two months.

Section 21.123,a Chemical, Biological and Weapons of Mass Destruction Rolf Harris has been classified as a WOMD after he covered such tracks as "I Touch Myself", "Smoke on the Water", "Satisfaction", and "Bohemian Rhapsody". It is forbidden by international law that he shall not cover any artist also classified as a Biological Weapon, such as the Minogue sisters, the former group "Spice Girls", or any other former members of soap operas (Especially Home and Away and Neighbours). Of course, if any wishes to sample the full horror of Rolf covering the greats, visit: http://rolfharrisjukebox.com/ Go on... you know you want to. "I touch myself" listen to it. If you have a sense of humor, be close to a toilet.

I think this was primarily for the people who I have observed stating things like: I'm not losing! They then follow up by realing of burgers, pizza, chocolate etc. I think we all accept the mental issues involved here, but it pulls at the heart strings to see people in pain, and this is posted because its no bad thing to say "I can see why you are hurting, now please, stop hurting yourself". Isn't it caring to cry out when you see people harming themselves and you want to say "stop it"? If I screwed up bad, and I told people, I would expect the ones who love me to say "You've got to stop doing that, it hurts me when you hurt yourself". "I say give u a few weeks"? I say, may we all succeed and not harm ourselves. That quote almost smacks of wishing ill on someone. I've already hurt one person in this thread, The original post was stated as a cry from the heart for the people in suffering. Can we not just accept that?

Nykee, don't hold back, tell us what you really think ROFL.

Ahh you missed out Rolf Harris. Come on I know you love him. One more rousing chorus of Jake the Peg or Tie Me Kangaroo down! Kylie Minogue too I bet!! Snickers and makes a run for it.

I am going to add one more to clarify my viewpoint. Consider me the alcoholic. One drink might get me off the wagon and get me into my coffin. I can't risk that drink.

Sure we can, this is simply an exchange of opinions. I've got nothing against Sam in any way, I don't doubt that harm was ever intended in any way. I just reflect on my own obesity and my own habits and I can see a direct correlation between treats, and weight gain. Adding some humor is what I try and do - and it can be misinterpreted (and clearly has been). Sammee - If I caused you upset, I apologise. My thoughts on bad food is entirely personal. I fear sugar, I have fears for my grandchild that he lives in a society that sees a massive consumption of 'hidden' and obvious sugars. It scares me. If my humor is inappropriate, I apologise. I sincerely thought when the note was posted about 'trying to kill..." I thought you were lending humor to it as well. I was merely playing along (in my mind). I HAVE to do my diet without treats. I have no band. I have no physical restraint. I have only me. So, I hope you will trully support my belief that it can be done without treats, because if not, I am doomed to be fat for the rest of my life.
-
Despite (obviously) the massive amount of humor I put into my comment (I rarely claim to speak like Gollum when serious) I do actually have one thing I'd like to take to task here. That's a extremely broad and sweeping statement. It's also likely incorrect. I don't intend to allow myself 'treats' because allowing myself 'treats' got me where I am today. From my mother allowing me to buy 3 pieces of candy on a Saturday, to McDonald's for supper. The bottom line is, I've had to accept taste has nothing to do with nutrition. I am deliberately eating foods I have always 'not liked' because they are good for me, and I have a responsibility to eat right. The 'treat' is pandering to my mind, and my mind apparantly has no frickin clue what my body needs. So, in a year or two, if I am at my goal weight, and I continue to not allow myself treats, I shall expect you to retract this. And I'll remind ya

I don't suppose any kind moderator would make this sticky for me?? I'll be ever so nice and I won't....well... I ... no scratch that... I'd be ever so grateful!

"Best Gollum Voice" MUUUUUUUURDERER!!

I'm all up for a bit of controversy. Most of our children are overweight, rather than contributing to their future obesity, why don't you re-gift them to the garbage can? It's kind of like the concept of buying a large meal and eating it all 'because it would be a shame to let it go to waste'

The easy way out: Sit on your duff and gain weight until they have to cut a wall out of your house to get your corpse out. The hard way out: Get off your duff, and do something, ANYTHING to lose weight. Whatever path your weightloss takes, whatever road you travel, easy doesn't crop up. I think most of the people who look at the obese and say "easy way out" are either a) not obese or are DAMN strong willed people, or c) have had WLS or pills and just aren't going to own up. I suggest that the next person who says anything about easy when referring to weight loss, needs to put on a 150 pound overcoat, get a nasty addiction (in this case food), and try and go for a nice long walk. After they've done that for 1, 5, 10 or 15 years can they start throwing around the word easy.
