Tomorrow is weigh in day and I'm so fired up! I'm gonna rock! I'm gonna be awesome!! I'm gonna... realize that for the last week my complete inactivity will sneak up and bite me in the ass!! DOH! First having a bad back, and now a stupid cold has kept me pretty much sitting on my duff all week. Will try harder once the cold gets gone. Bah!

I don't count calories. I just eat the same thing more or less every day, so I just... know calories.

Banning anything is always a touchy subject. Prohibition is a fine example. I personally see most commercials as little more than legalized drug pushing, and thats not product specific. Whether its food, toys, pharmaceuticals - the message is simple: "Your life will be better with Product X in it". There is freedom, and then there is freedom to such an extend whereby it infringes on someone elses civil liberties. I think there should be some legislature. Just like pharmaceuticals that must state harmful side effects, I think there's no harm in forcing other industries to add such disclaimers to their products. "Warning, eating this burger may contribute to high blood pressure, weight gain, extremely high cholestorol and premature death." I think the little ones might be less inclined to beg for candy, if that was on every commercial. I think it is practically a crime that food in schools is horrific, however parents, we can raises your voices at various stages and campaign to have the stuff removed from the schools. There's some additiona cents for ya.

If that were entirely true, no corporation specializing in food would bother to spend millions on marketting. Ever time I watch TV (which is really rare) I see something that makes me think "mmm that sounds good". I agree that we as humans should have the willpower to ignore this 'bait' but I certainly find it difficulut. I'm not sure regulation / legislation is the right answer mind you. It certainly makes for an interesting concept though. Never overlook the power of marketting. I'm from the UK, Growing up there was no MacDonald's in my home town, I had never eaten there. I didn't even know a town which had one. I DID know what went on a big mac though. and.... I WANTED one.

Well today has been... dull (apart from one ray of sunshine :confused: ) food consumption good. Fended off the crunchy munchies with a cup of dry fibre one. As for my daily goals.... I'm still alive so far!

My Daily Goals: 1. Not die. (so far, so good) 2. Eat Slooooowlllly (abject failure, try again tomorrow, unless item 1 becomes a failure). 3. Exercise in some way for thirty minutes (I've chickened out, my back is still troubling me) 4. Feel better about being me. (not doing too bad, I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that "Fat bastard" is becoming less applicable.

Okay here's me: C 263 (-44 lbs) -2 this week Signed up for the Gym tonight. Might even pluck up the courage to go soon. Done something funky to my back so resting up.

Weigh in day today and I have lost 2 pounds. Looks like the weight loss may be starting to slow but signed back up for the gym and maybe that can shake things up a bit.

I blame the upbringing. Believe it or believe it not, my brother's sense of humor is much more odd than mine. I am 'tame' by comparison. A fact P'Nut will corroborate I'm sure As for cracking her up, she cracks me upside the head a lot - does that count?? (okay, she doesn't crack me upside the head, very often.)

Dawg's Weekend Update: Well the weekend went well. Family came over and we managed to break with tradition. A family day usually involved P'Nut in the kitchen for 4 hours, followed by 5 minutes of ravenous slavering, followed by 2 hours of cleaning / groaning. We dispatched the famished children to a restaurant while we babysat the grandkid. It was almost a bit funny to 'send them away' to eat, but it worked out beautifully. We had a lot of fun with the little guy and they got to do some catching up. Ate sensibly over the weekend. I am trying really really hard to hit a good calorific intake of food but... still not doing so well. I'm lucky if I hit 1200 calories in any given day and usually end up only eating 900. Anyhoo, a good weekend. I'm ready for Wednesday weigh in. "Soon, there will be less of me around to love" :eek:

Weighed a day early this week and there is no move on the scale. Probably going to move to a Wednesday weigh in for the 'Gone for Good Club". Not disappointed though - I feel thinner and my skin is catching up to my weight loss. Will monitor for a week and try and increase my activity level. I may or may not weigh tomorrow.

Here's how I handled a bad 'temptation' moment yesterday. A guy from work was leaving and the company threw a lunch for him. Subway. chips, Cookies, free soda - the whole nine yards. I did okay through lunch time by eating immediately before all this glorious food (yeah, glorious, right) arrived. The crunch came in the afternoon when I was starting to get hungry and there was still a good three feet of sub left. I didn't give in and pig out. I did an about face, marched to my desk and seized my emergancy oatmeal. By eating the safe food at my moment of weakness I got passed the subway monster and didn't fall off the wagon. So... in short - what works best for me, is keeping a good supply of 'safe' foods at my desk, and when the cravings come I eat the safe foods.
