Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

Ironically, last week after like four bites of frozen yogurt my mom freaked out on me about gaining my weight back and how I needed to reign things back in. She was so over the top aggressive, it made me realize that I was not the only one who had an unhealthy relationship with weight. It brought me right back to my childhood. I quickly placed firm boundaries around this issue, which she is not doing well with ... but a healthy relationship with food is about me not her. And I will continue on this journey strong ... creating my new life, including healthy relationships with both food and people. Good luck to us all!

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

I am happy to say that today, 8.8.19, is my 1 year Surgiversary‼️‼️‼️ I have lost 85 lbs, but more importantly I have gotten off NINE medications 🎉🎉🎉 I am happier, by far healthier, and for the first time in my life truly LIVING my Best Life‼️ best decision I have ever made ❤️
  3. As we all find our new normal, I’m wondering if you all just continue to count protein for losing weight. Or has anyone moved to keto guidelines? Weight watchers?

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

I’ve been bouncing around 180 for like two months! I’m getting discouraged and not tracking, but eating fairly on track and well it’s frustrating!

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

Almost 8 months post op and my weight loss has slowedddd to a snail’s pace :( sometimes I wonder if I’m not eating enough? Can anyone share with me what your current macro ranges are? I had my sleeve done on Mexico so I don’t see a NUT here. Thank you!

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

I’m 6.5 months post op, and have been bouncing around the same numbers for a week or two or three. I’m about 30 lbs from my goal, lost 70 so far .... but I feel in a rut. I’m snacking more, tracking less, still working out like a beast ... but anyone else hit this kinda phase when their weight loss slowed?
  7. Oh my goodness it’s been awhile! I just passed my 5 mo post op and have been over coming a stall, so going to attack this new year! As I continue to lose weight and work out, I notice some areas of saggy skin (to be expected) which I treat by staying hydrated & kicking butt in the gym but I’m wondering if anyone is treating themselves with supplements or vitamins for tightening of skin or elasticity? Happy new year to you all my fellow warriors 💞
  8. Final Check In! Challenge weight loss: 9 lbs! Total weight loss: 62 lbs! Still losing ;) Thanks for helping me get through the holidays! Currently increasing my exercise and learning how to eat only to fuel my body. But overall feel successful getting through the holidays! May 2019 bring your joy, happiness, and health!
  9. Weekly check in #3 1) 197 2) 188 3) losing 4) working out with trainer and thinking I need to add something non my days off .... 5) lost 9 lbs in the challenge so far 6) an emotional week and it was my husband’s birthday. He would have been 50 this year ... we lost him far too young :( but I’m moving forward. So I’ll take the two lbs I lost and keep moving forward.
  10. 1) 197 2) 60 lbs baby ‼️ 3) losing 4) continue working out 3 x week 5) 7 lbs at this time 6) today is my four month post op and I’ve lost 60lbs, which feels amazing! However i didn’t hit the gym as much as I should this past week so this next week exercise is my focus.
  11. Hello everyone and happy holidays! I’m almost 4 months post op and doing well overall. I’m wondering who is still tracking your protein? I’m still using my app to track carbs/fats/protein and just wondered if people get to a point where they don’t need to track?

    Any August Sleevers out there?

My magic date was 8.8.18, and I’m down 57 lbs! It seems to slow, then speed up, and then repeat lol. I am working with a trainer at the gym, doing cardio on my own, and happy with where this journey is taking me :)
  13. Weekly check in #2 1) 197 2) 193 3) losing 4) only got in two workouts this week with my trainer, had sick kiddos at home :/ 5) lost 4 lbs in the challenge so far 6) this was an off week for me, lots of work, little time at the gym, and sick kids. Taking it for a loss and continuing on!
  14. Weekly check in #1 1) 194 2) 3 lbs since Friday! Total 56 down 3) I’m a loser baby! 4) already worked out three times with my trainer ... woop 5) 3 lbs so far 6) doing great and feeling no stress about the holiday! Spending it with close supportive family and sticking to mainly protein and veggies. Probably a bite or two of a roll and pie filling, but I’m fine with that as I’m creating a lifestyle not a ‘diet’ . Happy thanksgiving to you all!

    How will you handle Thanksgiving?

I plan on just enjoying the day, sticking with protein and veggies mainly .... but I will probably have a bite or two of a roll and pumpkin pie. I’m 3.5 months post op, going strong, almost 60 lbs down, and am creating a new lifestyle for myself. Lots to be thankful for this year! Happy thanksgiving everyone!

    I’m sorry for your loss

    Carbs

I’m 3.5 months post op and am sticking to a 40 - 65 carbs per day. But this is mostly complex carbs in my healthy food. I eat whole grains but no bread/pasta/rice etc. but it’s also not an exact science. Everyone’s body reacts differently, as well as we all have different providers. But it is fun to know what everyone else does ;)
  18. 1) challenge starting weight: 197 2) current weight lost: 53 3) losing or maintaining: losing 4) fitness goal: to work out at least three times a week 5) post challenge weight loss: unknown 6) check in: I was actually looking for something that was going to focus on the holidays, so this is perfect! I’m hitting the gym hard with my trainer and it feels great! Although I notice I seem to be grazing a bit more than usual, nothing unhealthy so I can help but wonder if the increase in activity means my body wants a few more grams of protein. Hmmm :) good luck with this first week everyone!

I miss food so much so so much 😭😭😭

I’m 3 months post op, 54 lbs down, and still think about food. For me, food was emotional. I ate when I was sad, when I was happy, when I was mad, and it was my coping for when I became a young widow. In September we passed his 9th angel day, and I was more emotional than I have been in years! But I realized, it was because I wasn’t using food to mask my emotions! This journey is allowing me to deal with my whys ... why did I eat, why was I sad, etc. Therapy, soul searching, and support are all a piece of that for me. I wish you all the best in your journeys 💞
  20. Ok gang, I just weighed in for my 3 months post op and I lost 1.2 lbs this week. My body fat decreased by 1%. I kick ass in the gym with a trainer 2 - 3 times a week, so I know I’m trading muscle for fat. I track my protein intake and am on path for about 80g each day, and despite losing 50 lbs overall (which is amazing!) I’m wondering if I’ve hit another ‘stall’ or if I’m slowing down. Any thoughts or similar experiences? Have a great day everyone!

    Munchies

8 weeks post op and last night I had the case of the munchies SO bad‼️‼️‼️ I ended up having cheese square (full fat) and a whole protein bar (for a bedtime snack!). Which led me to realize all I have for snack foods are my SF jello and SF popsicles. What does everyone else eat for snacks?
  22. sassysleever76

    Anyone regretting this?

Hang in there, it took me a few weeks to stop puking my brains out and actually feeling like a halfway normal person again. BUT it’ll be three months post op next week, almost 50 lbs down and I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat 💗

    Munchies

YUM! These all sound good, thanks for the ideas!

    Sugar free candy

I have one sugar free jolly rancher almost every night.
  25. Has anyone tried the Quest protein chips?
