    Weight Regain After Gastric Sleeve

Interesting, and thanks again for the detailed info - this is a huge help. One more thing though - when you say spit up - is that like a regular throwing up type thing, or is it just a build up of saliva and stuff. That's what I have (had) with my band - if something got stuck, my body would think that it was actually stuck in my esophagus, and it would start creating a **** ton of saliva trying to break it down or move it. That would just build up in my throat and mouth and I'd have to go somewhere and spit it out. Sorry for the gross details...

    Weight Regain After Gastric Sleeve

So once you get to your limit on the bread, how do you feel? Are you just full? Does it hurt? Do you feel nauseous? Sorry for all the questions - I'm a band to VSG revision - with my band, when I ate something I shouldn't (or didn't chew enough) food would get stuck and it hurt. Bad. Sometimes had to make my self throw up. Thanks!

    Weight Regain After Gastric Sleeve

I'm confused - you said that restriction is there, but you can get more in - so is it like the restriction becomes, well, less restrictive? Able to eat 10 oz instead of 5 oz? Thanks!

    Severe left shoulder pain

My surgeon told me this is exactly how he was able to catch a leak in another patient - referred pain from the leak was causing the pain, no other symptoms.

    Why no liquor??

I specifically asked my surgeon about this at my pre-op - he said 2-3 weeks out a glass of wine should be fine (I rhyme!) - he said probably not a full bottle though...

    Sucralose?

Hi all - I was revised from a band to VSG Monday 12/18. I came home from the hospital Wednesday night - things are going ok, but I've been sticking mostly to more clear liquid type stuff. I thought I was doing myself a favor by drinking the Isopure Zero Carb pre-made drinks, which give me 40 grams of protein each. I've had four of them since Wednesday. Unfortunately, I've spent an inordinate amount of time in the bathroom, with some fairly explosive issues. Also, have had some pretty bad lower right side abdominal cramping/gas/pressure. Anyone else have problems with sucralose?

    Sucralose?

Thanks for the input. I didn't have problems with fake sugar before (that I know of), but I can't keep anything inside me since I've been home. Hoping this is it...

    Spicy food

Hi all - I'd love to hear your experience with spicy foods post sleeve. I've read that merely by the stomach being smaller, spicy foods will always cause heartburn. True for you? Full disclosure: I'm banded now, going in for revision 12/18, LOVE spicy food. Thanks!

    Spicy food

Wow - that sucks. Are you on medication to control it?

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Nice! I travel and entertain clients for a living, so I'm dreading the change from the band. The band restricts me from eating healthy foods (lean meats make me really sick) but doesn't do anything for fatty/slippery foods, rich desserts, and especially alcohol. I like your approach to daily eating though - gives me some hope.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

That's awesome - really inspirational - your face looks a lot thinner, too. I hope I haven't been a fatty too long that my face is now permanently round. Are you having any problems with loose skin? How's your mental state - what foods or food based activities (like big thanksgiving meals, etc) do you miss most?
  12. Hi all - sorry if this is an annoying repost, but I'm 1.5 months pre-op and I'm trying to get a general sense of how long people are generally in the OR? I think my band procedure was about 45 minutes. I know a lot of the length depends on complexity which depends on what they find when they get in there, but any stories would be appreciated!

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Spasms like how? I don't understand. Sometimes with my band if I have something halfway stuck I get a feeling kinda like a cold chill. Is it like that?
  14. I'm hoping this will be more the case for me, versus the 4+ hour ones I've heard of here. Looks like you're down quite a bit in the short time since your revision. Nice!

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

That averages out to over 4 lbs a week right? I'm not getting the revision until December, but all things considered, I'd be happy with that progress.
  16. So you did the revision in two procedures?

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

Jesus that sounds AWFUL. Was it can't eat anymore like I'm sick now, or can't eat anymore like wow I'm full and satisfied (in a food way)?
  18. Respect on the vigorous bedroom play...
  19. Wait - while you had your band in, the port kept coming loose? That's terrifying.
  20. Yeah - this is totally me - not the 100 lbs, but I can eat all kinds of shitty foods at scale and not get sick - but put a lean chicken breast and broccoli in my mouth and I'm instantly sick. No salad, not much fruit - basically, most healthy stuff. Glad to hear you're doing well with healthier foods, even so soon out from surgery. How was the port removal? I've read some threads on here that surgeons had to 'hack' them out of the abdominal wall. Doesn't sound too fun... I'd also be interested in how your energy level is for the next couple of weeks. I think I'll be able to avoid plane travel for work for the first couple of weeks, but suspect I'll be on a lot of conference calls and video presentations. I've read that a lot of other people here are just really pooped for the first 5-6 weeks.
  21. Thanks for the quick response! Did you do a liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-surgery? I travel every week for work, so I'm not enthused about having to take shakes on planes and what not... Sounds like you're doing great though - I'm looking forward to getting this band removed - I'm down +/- 50 lbs from my highest weight pre-band, but I'm stuck there. I can't eat most lean meats, no fibrous veggies, but if they tighten the band more, I can't eat. I've learned to eat plenty of high calorie soft foods though I'm not excited about the surgery, but excited for something new and different.
  22. Sorry to dig up an old post, but I'm about to have a revision - you mentioned weight wasn't going away as much as you'd like - how is it now? How much did the sleeve help (or not) over the band? Thanks!
  23. How long was the surgery? How long did you stay in the hospital after your procedure? I'm having my revision in December - I've had the band for almost 10 years. Sucks.
  24. Got my band in 2008, just had my fourth or fifth fill (can't remember exactly) as I've gained about 20 lbs in the last 6 months. Just got a 1/2 cc - wasn't feeling much restriction before, but the Dr. did it under fluoroscopy and 1 cc stopped the contrast too much. Anyway, I've always been able to get back to eating pretty quickly after fills - even had some removed last year because I felt too much restriction. Anyway, had the fill Thursday afternoon, and last night had some Soup - potatoes, bacon, etc - quite good actually. Since then, everything hurts when I eat it. I can feel the food/liquid hit and pass the band, and it hurts. Just having liquids today. Some more acidic liquids - orange juice, wine, etc, hurt my whole esophagus - almost like GERD. Based on some quick searching, this sounds like swelling after the fill, which I understand might be completely normal. However, I'm a little concerned that even it's just swelling, this would be the first time for me. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    5th fill, first time swelling?

Thanks for the response - we'll see how it goes.
