    October 2018 Sleevers

Hey guys! Hope all is well with everyone. Just an update, after having gallbladder removed I feel SOOOOOO much better. I've noticed that I am able to eat pretty much everything (just in smaller quantities). The diet has started to struggle a bit when it comes to making the best choices. But at least I realize it and can correct it ASAP. In June I hit the -100 lbs mark and broke down in happy tears in the locker room at the gym. It has been very hard not to compare myself with others who have had the same surgery. But we really are very different and will lose/gain at different rates. Best of luck to everyone! Remember not to be so hard on yourself. You did this because you love yourself and want better health for yourself.

Surgeon says gallbladder comes out tomorrow. Praying that this will put an end to the painful episodes and trips to the ER that I’ve been having recently. Hope everyone is doing well.

Has anyone else developed a terrible pain in the epigastric area within 15 mins after eating? First time it happened I thought I was having a heart attack because it hurt so bad. Trip to the ER and an all clear on EKG and CAT scan and labs. Pain went away within an hour and a half of being in there. Next night same problem except the pain never went away. I was going to just wait it out but after 6 hours I couldn’t take it anymore. So another trip to the ER and a diagnosis of gastritis and some gallbladder “sludge” and elevated liver enzymes. Ultrasound didn’t show any stones. Told me to follow up with my Bariatric surgeon. Has anyone else gone from tolerating most foods to barely tolerating water? I’m afraid something is really wrong.

    Weight Loss After Surgery

In order to help me get through my stall (and save myself some mental anguish), I downloaded the Baritastic app and added my pre op measurements and now my post op measurements. Even if I can’t see that I’m losing or the scale doesn’t move, my measurements don’t lie. My body IS changing, and I just need to relax and trust that this WILL work. It has worked for others before me who were not ideal patients, so it will work for me. And it will work for you too! God Bless, don’t stress. Don’t be so hard on yourself, you’re body will catch up.

I’m relieved to hear that I’m not the only one going through a frustrating stall so soon after surgery. I’ve been a little hard on myself because the scale hasn’t moved in 10+ days. My pcp took me off my thyroid medicine and I swear that has a big part in it because I’ve been feeling sluggish and a bit depressed. I wasn’t ready to be off my thyroid med yet, and it makes me angry. My numbers were low normal (just like when I was started on on my med). I get to have my thyroid levels retested on December 24th. So fingers crossed for good news

Anyone else get nauseous from protein drinks? I’m having a hard time getting my protein with the premier protein shakes that I LOVED pre op. Too sweet and creamy. 😢

I am still on the pain meds. Without it my incisions hit too much. I am starting to take half doses today. Maybe that will help. Thanks!

Oh and I’ve added some pink Himalayan sea salt to the broth because it has magnesium ^^

I have had some premier protein and bone broth with as much water as I can sip in a day. I started taking my vitamins again as of yesterday. Flinstones x2 day, liquid calcium 2x day, b12 and b50 b complex once a day, plus my levothyroxine. I was thinking it might have something to do with the b vitamins. ?? We’ll see if anything changes today. (Fingers crossed). It’s been difficult for me to rest.

Is anyone else experiencing muscle jumps while sleeping? It feels almost like a jolt, and I’m having it in my arms, legs, abdomen but never all at one time.

Day 4 and finally able to get some protein shakes, broth, popsicle, and clear protein drink down. The first two days was nothing but water and Tylenol with codeine. And even that burned so much that I used it sparingly. It’s getting better now. Still really sore at a couple of incision sites. Up and walking around the house every hour, and still using my incentive spirometer. Every day it gets a little easier.

I was sleeved on 10-15-18. So, 1 day post op and I’m resting at home. Hurts to take sips, just trying to figure out what temp works best for me. I am really sore and thirsty. Just trying to stay hydrated because I don’t wanna have to go back into the hospital. 1st day I was up and down and walking all around halls and the nurses station. Ice packs are a life saver. Tylenol w/ codeine helps with the belly pain, but my throat is still kind of sore. Trying to walk walk walk and sip sip sip. And remembering that this pain and nausea is only temporary. This too shall pass. Hope everyone is doing well.

Surgery is on Monday! I’m so ready! I’ve been on the pre op diet for 12 days and I’m down 12 lbs, so that’s exciting! Tomorrow I start liquid only (4 protein shakes, water, and Jello) and on Sunday I’m going to do clear liquids only. Good luck to everybody having surgery this month!

Day 3 of the pre op diet, and it is getting much easier. The first 2 days I was so exhausted and had a headache. Luckily the headache has gone away and I don't feel quite as tired. I am so excited to be this close to my surgery date! Good Luck to all the OCTOBER sleevers/bypassers.

October 15th seems to be a popular date! My date as well. My 2 week pre-op diet starts on Monday October 1st!!! I have already cut back on the caffeine and carbonation so it won't be such a shock. I really like the premiere protein shakes, so I bought a case of each flavor from Sam's Club. I also found their clear protein drinks to be tasty as well. The flavor is a tad bit strong for my taste, so I have to dilute it. I'm excited to start my pre op diet because that means this is actually happening! It has been almost a year and a half since my first appointment with my bariatric surgeon, and now I'm down to less than a month before surgery!! SOOOOO READDDYYYY!!!!!
