Swings in temperature
ladybug51 replied to weightogo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 days post-op and have been having the same thing. I wonder if it has something to do with hormones because it's just like what I went through with menopause. I hope it lets up because it drives me nuts! -
Eating Questions!!!!
ladybug51 replied to YoungBlackAndBanded's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Weight gain isn't always about overeating. Your weight depends on a lot of factors like what you eat, when, how much, your activity level, your metabolism and even genetics. I don't eat a lot, in fact I sometimes forget to eat if I don't feel hungry! LOL I didn't eat during the day, I was too busy, but then I'd have a good size dinner and dessert. My activity level has also been pretty low. I work on the computer for a huge part of the day, and do laundry, dishes and such. Regular housewife stuff. It took me a year of soul searching to make the decision. I am also 5'4" and weigh 255. I want to lose the weight for a variety of reasons, not JUST to look better, but because I don't want to end up with diabetes and a bunch of other bad stuff. I want to be able to go to the mall and walk from one end to the other without having to sit down half way thru and catch my breath! I want my hip and knee joints to stop aching. I want to stop having to take meds for high blood pressure. I want to be happier and healthier. I want to live to see my 6 grandchildren grow up! The doctor I'm going to recommended RNY gastric bypass because of my age and activity level. After a lot of discussion and research we decided the band would be better for me. I would suggest you have a long talk with your doctor and see what he says. Do it to gain health not just to lose weight! -
What the heck?!?! Why do people say the things that they do?

My best friend told me I was taking the easy way out...easy? Not on your life! Now, when I meet someone who comeas across like this I just say I'm doing this to gain health not to lose weight! What are they gonna say? LOL So far it's worked every time! Keep the good folks close and ignore the idiots!!! -
Hi. I am in Pensacola and just received my referral letter from Tricare. They want to send me to Dr Caluda at Sacred Heart Hosp. but, I've never heard of him. Does anyone know anything about him?

Hi, I was really surprised to find a group in Pensacola-until I discovered my daughter, Patricia in Italy, had already been here! I haven't been able to come to a decision about the surgery. Yes, I want to lose the weight and be able to keep it off...NO, I don't want to lose my hair or have my excess skin hanging around me like wings! :scared2: Today I talked to Tricare at the Navy Hospital, and to my doctor. Tricare's copay is almost laughably small because we have Tricare Prime. So one of my "excuses" was shot down. I was sure the copay would be huge - how about $11.oo per day or $25.00 for the entire time I'm in the hospital and nonmilitary doctors' appointments carry a $15.oo copay! My husband, my kids and my friends all say I should have the procedure done. My BMI is 41.5 and my joints and ligamints are awful. So, why am I holding back...did I just talk myself into the surgery? :blushing: I think I'm just scared...aside from Patricia, how did you all come to the decision to have this done, and has it been worth it? What's the worst part and what are the best things? Someone mentioned people in the area were really unhappy with their surgeries...was it the doctor, the hospital or what? I know I have a million questions, sorry. I'd appreciate whatever you have to share. Thanks, Betsy PS!!!!! Have found out that I will have a $500.00 "Administrative Fee" charged by the Doctor/Hospital performing the procedure. Still quite a deal! So I have had my Doctor send the referral to Tricare!
