I have been thinking about WLS for just over 1 year. My daughter had the band done last March and I watched her progress, wondering if it would be worth it. She has lost almost 100 pounds and looks and feels fantastic...so, maybe I'd try. I finally went to my doctor in February and things have been happening so fast and so easily that I figure it must be fate! I am scheduled to have the surgery next Tuesday - April 6! My surgeon is Dr. David Nye at Baptist Hospital here in Pensacola. He's FABULOUS! He and his staff has made everything so simple I can hardly believe it. They are beyond great! I never evn had a problem with Tricare!!!I was surprised at me first visit with Dr. Nye when we talked about which surgery would be best for me. (Yes, he actually sits and talks with his patients!) Because of several factors, including my age, he recommended RNY, and it seemed like the best option, and that's what we were planning. BUT as things progressed I became more and more unsure. After all, I had thought about banding for a year! After seeing the psychologist and the nutritionist and talking to a lot of people who had had the surgery I decided the bypass would not give me the lifestyle I wanted - sounds silly to put it that way, but I just wasn't comfortable with it. One week from today it happens - I can hardly wait. I think the waiting the hardest part!
