    Hello from NC

Hi Amanda I am new to this web site too and am just learning my way around it. It is great!! I have been thinking about surgery for a year and now I have my date. Best wishes to you, Becky
  7. Hi Ken, I just got my date too, it is May 12th. I too have been thinking about this for over a year. Now that it is finally happening everything is moving along very quickly. My very best wishes to you and look forward to sharing this journey with you. Becky
  8. Well hi there buddy!!! High five to you!!! Are you as excited as I am? I am in Chico Ca and Dr Ludwig is my surgeon. I am having my barium upper GI study May lst. Do you have to have that? That is the only thing I am dreading. I have all my lab work May 2nd, but I work in the preop testing area and it will be one of my fellow RN's who will be drawing my labs and doing my EKG. Keep me posted on your progress and I will do the same. Becky

    How did you do it?

Dear Grace, How inspiring it is to hear from someone like you. You are just what I need right now.......lots of positve information and support. I have always believed that attitude is 99% of the battle. I hope to keep a good attitude through this adventure. My surgery date is May 12 and I am both excited and a little nervous. This has got to work for me. My BMI is 38 but I also have high blood pressure and chronic back and knee pains. I used to be a very active person and I want to be able to continue an active lifestyle as I age. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. You just don't know how much it means to us "newbies" I hope to hear from you as time goes on. Becky

  11. Just a little bit about myself. I am 58 years old, married for 36 years to my high school sweetheart. We have two grown sons ages 21 and 29. My 29 year old is getting married in July. I have been an RN for over 30 years and work in the Pre Op Testing area of the hospital. I see many Lap Band patients prior to their surgeries. I do all the lab work and EKG,s and any other tests that the surgeon orders. I have been inspired by my LB patients to pursue this for myself. I have always struggled with my weight my whole life, but going through memopause really changed my body and metabolism greatly. I have been on hundreds of diets and exercise programs and have spent thousands of dollars just to gain it all back and more. Does this sound familar to anyone?? I have been thinking and researching this surgery for over a year now. We have a fantastic bariatric program at the hospital where I work. The entire staff and surgeons are excellent. They have a very proactive pre and post op program with unlimited support available. I have been very impressed. The upcoming wedding of my son has been the catalist for me to have the surgery now. I wish I would have done it sooner but I wasn't quite ready. I am soooooooooooooooo ready now:biggrin2:. This website had been a tremendous help and resource to me. I have learned so much from the other members. I look forward everyday for my Lap Band Talk fix.. Best wishes to all. I just found out today that my surgery date is May 12th!! It is happening so fast. I am worried but excited about the whole thing. I will start my protein fast on May 2nd. Any suggestions on the best drinks and tips on tolerating the fast. I also have to have an upper GI barium scan on May 1st. I am worried about that and the chance of becoming constipated from the barium. Any words of wisdom and encouragement will be greatly appreciated. I have decided to only tell my husband and sister about my surgery for now. I want to make sure I will actually lose weight before I let my friends know. What do you think about that? How have you all handled that situation.
