Is it after your surgeon gets your nutri. and psych. evals. ? or do you also have to have the results of the pretests i.e. EKG, chest Xray etc...
-
Ok today at lunch I had a side salad (your typical salad greens w/ some fruit on top) 1/2 of a panini sandwich with turkey, bacon and dijon mustard. And a fairly huge piece of baguette bread AND THEN a caramel pecan brownie. (Our office ordered out) So I ate everything I got and I wasn't full. All the skinny chicks ate lots less than I did and were about to puke. Do you think they just say that or is there something wrong with me? Why can I eat THAT MUCH and not be miserable? I mean, I was comfortable...

Thank you guys. Reading this definitely helped me. This is one AWESOME place to be. :crying:

Marie, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I attended Dr. Enochs seminar on May 6 and he is FABULOUS. So is his staff. Lisa is awesome. She was at the seminar and took the time to sit down with me ( I got there early) and discuss things and went over some paperwork. If you go to Dr. Enochs site, www.surgerync.com you can go ahead and download the initial paperwork. I went ahead and filled that out and turned it in that night. I have my first appt. with him this Thursday. I can't wait. I met w/ the nutritionists yesterday and have my psy. eval next week. Good luck. Let me know what you think of him after you attend the seminar.

Blue Cross People - Can u start the BCBS Dr.'s Diet early?
mpope replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Does all BCBS members have to do the 6 month diet? I thought I'd seen some on here that didn't mention that? I have BCBS of NC. -

So, I'm just going to ask it. I am a CARBAHOLIC ! ! ! WHAT am I going to do after this surgery? I am not a meat eater. I tried to eat some tuna today for lunch and about gagged. I'm that way with most meats, so I get very little Protein in (hence alot of reason I'm here  Help...I don't want to stop this process but I'm worried I'll only eat carbs and veggies. I do LOVE my veggies too. -

I actually go see my nutritionists on Monday so I'll definitely have a lot of questions to ask her. Are the "hard" proteins considered actual meat v. shakes and other forms of protein i.e. yogurt, pb, etc.. -

I'm still very early in the process. I've got my surgeon appt. on the 22nd. Still waiting for my PCP to order all the pre tests that have to be done. I've got my nutritionists and psychologits appts. set up... -

But will Protein shakes and stuff fill me up enough to not be able to want carbs. I had a can of black eyed peas for lunch today. I just feel doomed. Should I try and incorporate some shakes or something in now....:confused2: -
Does anyone know if BCBS of NC requires the psy. and nurtitionists appts? or is this something the surgeon requires?
-
BCBS NC - psychologists and nutritionists?
mpope replied to mpope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Suzy, have you had all the tests done...the gallbladder, Chest X ray, EKG, etc.... Again, is this a surgeon requirement or a BCBS requirement. Can you get approved before this testing is done or does the surgeon's office wait until you have EVERYTHING turned in i.e. all of these tests, along w/ the nutr. and psy. ???? -
Less Than 24 hours Post Op (My Lap Band Surgery)
mpope replied to NicoleW8ing's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nicole, it is SOOOO good to hear from you. The details were AWESOME. Now I have a good idea what to expect. Hopefully mine will be soon. I met Dr. Enochs at the Seminar and he seemed very nice and genuine. Keep in touch. : ) -
v. 1500 calories after surgery....what is the difference on your body? If you can get up to 1500 calories after surgery, why can't we just do that and not have the surgery? Is the be/c we probably haven't stuck to that, or smaller, amount and that's WHY we're here. Just wondering if those calories are different on your body and the scale?

I am attending my seminar tomorrow night, but I was reading the posts on here and got confused. It seems that during the surgery, they don't go ahead and "fill" your band. Am I reading this correctly? Why is that?
-
I've gotten the surgeon's paperwork filled out, a copy of my insurance card, my five years of weight that my PCP filled out. Should I get a letter from my PCP saying he agrees or approves or whatever the surgery...or is that something that will be needed and gotten later?
-
I'm not a big fan of protein. I know I'm going to have to change that way of thinking, so my question is after the surgery, can I have vegetarian refried beans with black beans added in. Since that's a can of each, it makes ALOT, but of course, I don't even eat all that NOW...but are beans an acceptable substitute for hard proteins....
-
Kat, thanks so much for posting this. It is very helpful to us newbies to know what to expect at each turn.
-
Thank you SOOO much for the replies. Sometimes I think I overthink all off this...it's nice to be brought back to reality...
-
Kathy, that's GREAT....I am SOOO happy for you.....I know you're just one big grin.

that I have a $2,500 deductible. The lady at BCBS said that that would be the most I'd have to pay out of pocket, but now I'm worried that I'll have to pay that all at once and that would be tough right now. I've got a voicemail into the surgery center to see how that deductible can be paid....monthly...or what?
-
McKoy, it IS nice to see N.C. on someone else's thread. Did you have your surgery in NC? I'm hoping they'll do some kind of payment something....
-
Just wanted to see some sample menus of what you eat on any given day. Thanks.

I have BCBS of NC and haven't started that process as of yet, but wondered how much, on average, you had to pay out of pocket to cover co-pays and what not?
