  1. I live! And my largest stone was nearly an inch long. And my surgeon asked my mother if she wanted after he sent her pictures. Why are my doctors so werid. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Well saw a guy about my kidney stones, yes plural, and set up a surgery date to get the thumb sized one out of me and the teeny ones too. So my bypass surgery is on hold until sometime. I am hoping that this will be quick and efficient. I was hoping to be up and working on my bypass stuff by the time my kidney surgery is going to happen.

    Showering with Hibiclens?

Oh my lord, my instructions for the Hibicleans wash are/were insane. I had to use it for 3 days prior to suregery (morning and night), I needed new wash cloths and towels every shower, my sheets had to be freshly changed each night, and I could not reuse sleep wear. I am surprised your doctor didn't give you a paper with instructions to follow.
  4. My biggest craving was salt. Everything we got was sweet. But we were allowed to have low sodium broth a couple of times a day. So I picked some up and this brand was very serious about it being low sodium. I added salt to it to make it taste like something. I hated sweet things while I was on my pre-op for the four days before having to stop. I never craved any other foods though. I was so full from the shakes, bars and milk we were allowed that eating anything I missed wasn't really something I wanted.

    Muscle cramps

are you getting enough potassium in your pre-op and are you drinking water like its going out of style? My Dr. had us have a 8oz glass of skim milk or a banana everyday to help with potassium that we couldprocess. And drinking more water helps stops cramps.
  6. I had the supervised diet thing, upper GI endoscopy, pulmonary screening, abdominal ultrasounds (which found all sorts of things wrong with me), psych eval, and nutrition consults. I did not have a sleep apnea test done since I never feel tired when awake and anyone who tells me I snore I don't trust not to leading me on about it (siblings).
  7. So my PCP said i can't have surgery until i have my kidney stone(s) removed. To be fair the largest is about the size of my thumb. But now I just fear that I will be watching the scale number creep up and will be back to square one. I was so set for the 18th of this month.

Weird Stuff That Delayed Your Surgery Approval

A kidney stone that is 3cm x 2cmx 1.5cm. I feel no pain and didn't even know it was there until I had to get a CT scan after my ultrasound dinged something funny.
  10. I would take a long look at what you are eating and drinking. Don't do that BS food funeral nonsense, throw in some more exercise and check your blood sugars every day to make sure you are keeping on track.

    Pantry

I did a kitchen purge. Since I live alone i was able to get new much smaller dishes to eat off of. I Hated my old dishes. I kept some stuff that wouldn't go bad for a while and all my flours and sugars, condiments, tossed or donated dishes, cups, old plastic wear, and reorganized everything and put shelf liner down like a functioning adult. It was nice.

    Phentermine

I can't tell you if there are or not but reading the inserts will be helpful

    Phentermine

Read the informational inserts too. you find a lot of necessary information in them such as what foods you shouldn't eat with the medication or if there are vitamin interactions
  14. Does anyone know the secret of making the Syntrax Nectars not look like they are curdling? Cause so far I like them they don't taste awful and artificially sweetened. Should i blitz them in a blender instead of just dump and stir?

    Kidney Stones

I was shocked too since we had agreed on Monday coming up but then moved it to this Friday. I am hoping they can do something then about it. But it doesn't hurt so there is that.
  16. Did anyone have issues with kidney stones before surgery? How about after with all the extra calcium that you have to take? I have some tiny crystals right now because I was an idiot and tried a calcium chew and the multivitamin not thinking that I don't purchase anything with extra calcium added to it anymore because of kidney stones.

    Kidney Stones

So you know you are in for a bad time when you contact a urologist about your kidney stones and the scheduler immediately puts you on hold to talk to the medical team. Yeah so my Friday seems like it will be fairly booked.
  18. I just need one more approval for surgery to happen next month and I have to go back to my PCP tomorrow to see what she says. I needed a CT Scan for my kidneys and now she wants me into discuss it. I am hoping its just instructions or something like keep a close watch on this. I am so tired of doctors right now.😬

    Cookbook

Has anyone tried recipes form Fresh Start: Bariatric Cookbook by Sarah Kent? Are the recipes good?
  20. I am totally expecting a massive acne breakout since i have to stop my birth control for 2 months. And when I talked to my GYN she said that since estrogen is stored in the fat layer just under your skin there are all kinds of hormonal things that can or will happen. So I am expecting all kinds of nonsense.
  21. I don't use my food saver a lot but i have definitely saved money with it. Getting anything more than 2 chicken thighs or more than 3oz of beef can go to waste since I live by myself and not getting home until 7pm some nights does not make me want to cook.

    Exercise routine

I think my problem is that I loathe running but still need cardio but prefer to lift weights but want help deciding a routine for both and was wondering if someone knew of a website , an app, or if they are in the DC area a trainer who would help me create one.

    Exercise routine

Anyone know of a good resource for finding a exercise routing for both pre and post op? I am having a hard time because the days are now too dark to safely run/walk where i am and i rather sit on a bed of nail than run on a treadmill.
  24. I was wondering if anyone has some advice for a newbie? I struggle with being hungry all the time and I try to ignore it or drink water but if I drink too much water I end up with acid reflux. I sometimes will drink a protein shake but that doesn't really help right now. I am only 2 weeks into getting started on the road of getting better off. Does the hunger pains get better?

    Starting out

Ah no, I meant that I have started working towards the surgery. Consulting with the surgeons office and starting the steps before insurance submittal. Sorry for the confusion.
