New Surgery and Surgery Delay
aisuru113 replied to aisuru113's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live! And my largest stone was nearly an inch long. And my surgeon asked my mother if she wanted after he sent her pictures. Why are my doctors so werid. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -

Showering with Hibiclens?
aisuru113 replied to Briswife15's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Oh my lord, my instructions for the Hibicleans wash are/were insane. I had to use it for 3 days prior to suregery (morning and night), I needed new wash cloths and towels every shower, my sheets had to be freshly changed each night, and I could not reuse sleep wear. I am surprised your doctor didn't give you a paper with instructions to follow. -
Day 3 of Pre-op diet. 11 more to go.

My biggest craving was salt. Everything we got was sweet. But we were allowed to have low sodium broth a couple of times a day. So I picked some up and this brand was very serious about it being low sodium. I added salt to it to make it taste like something. I hated sweet things while I was on my pre-op for the four days before having to stop. I never craved any other foods though. I was so full from the shakes, bars and milk we were allowed that eating anything I missed wasn't really something I wanted. -
are you getting enough potassium in your pre-op and are you drinking water like its going out of style? My Dr. had us have a 8oz glass of skim milk or a banana everyday to help with potassium that we couldprocess. And drinking more water helps stops cramps.

Pre-Op Requirements, what did you have to do?
aisuru113 replied to ahillig's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the supervised diet thing, upper GI endoscopy, pulmonary screening, abdominal ultrasounds (which found all sorts of things wrong with me), psych eval, and nutrition consults. I did not have a sleep apnea test done since I never feel tired when awake and anyone who tells me I snore I don't trust not to leading me on about it (siblings). -
Well saw a guy about my kidney stones, yes plural, and set up a surgery date to get the thumb sized one out of me and the teeny ones too. So my bypass surgery is on hold until sometime. I am hoping that this will be quick and efficient. I was hoping to be up and working on my bypass stuff by the time my kidney surgery is going to happen.

Weird Stuff That Delayed Your Surgery Approval

A kidney stone that is 3cm x 2cmx 1.5cm. I feel no pain and didn't even know it was there until I had to get a CT scan after my ultrasound dinged something funny. -
So my PCP said i can't have surgery until i have my kidney stone(s) removed. To be fair the largest is about the size of my thumb. But now I just fear that I will be watching the scale number creep up and will be back to square one. I was so set for the 18th of this month.

Surgery Cancelled to A1C being too high
aisuru113 replied to Ohiogirl14's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would take a long look at what you are eating and drinking. Don't do that BS food funeral nonsense, throw in some more exercise and check your blood sugars every day to make sure you are keeping on track. -
I did a kitchen purge. Since I live alone i was able to get new much smaller dishes to eat off of. I Hated my old dishes. I kept some stuff that wouldn't go bad for a while and all my flours and sugars, condiments, tossed or donated dishes, cups, old plastic wear, and reorganized everything and put shelf liner down like a functioning adult. It was nice.

I can't tell you if there are or not but reading the inserts will be helpful
-
Read the informational inserts too. you find a lot of necessary information in them such as what foods you shouldn't eat with the medication or if there are vitamin interactions

I was shocked too since we had agreed on Monday coming up but then moved it to this Friday. I am hoping they can do something then about it. But it doesn't hurt so there is that.

So you know you are in for a bad time when you contact a urologist about your kidney stones and the scheduler immediately puts you on hold to talk to the medical team. Yeah so my Friday seems like it will be fairly booked.
