I’m working on stopping my ridiculous 6-7 a day diet soda addiction to prepare for surgery in a month and I’m looking to see if any one had any tips or suggestions on weening yourself off to avoid experiencing the terrible withdrawal symptoms that I know are going to come. I know it’s not going to be completely avoidable, but maybe there’s a way where it won’t be so bad? Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. For some reason this is giving me lots of anxiety! I already quit smoking (going on 3 months!!!) so if I can do that I know can do this but I’m not looking forward to the headaches. Thanks in advance!

I just need to share my excitement with someone...I’m 5 days smoke free in preparation for surgery. My surgeon said we can schedule surgery after I’ve been smoke free for 3 months. I’m finally on my way to 3 months! It took me about 3 weeks since my first appointment to finally quit but I did it. This is something I NEVER thought I could do but with the help of Chantix I did it. Next I need to ween myself off of diet sodas. I drink diet soda like it’s water so this is going to be really hard for me as well. Does anyone have any tips on weening yourself off of the stuff? To be honest, I was unsure how this was going to go once I was told I’d have to quit smoking but now that I have, I really feel like I can do anything. This is the first time in a long time that I have felt that way! I’m just so excited and proud of myself that I had to share :)

Hi everyone! I just scheduled my first appointment with a surgeon for Sept 21st and they sent me a whole bunch of paperwork to fill it beforehand which is no biggie. Maybe I’m just being overly anxious but I’m scared that I’ll write down the wrong answer somewhere and they won’t agree to do my surgery. I know that I want surgery for all the right reasons- I’m just overthinking it, right? Has anyone had any issues with a surgeon or someone within the program you chose not thinking you wanted the surgery for the right reason?

Hi everyone! I’m in the early stages of deciding to get a gastric sleeve and I have my first appointment scheduled for 9/21 but I’m really curious what other people had to do to be approved by your surgeon for surgery while being self pay. My insurance won’t cover the surgery so I won’t have to deal with insurance company requirements. I’m just curious what surgeons typically want you to do (follow a special diet, take classes, see a nutritionist, etc). Thanks!:)
