    5 things I've learned 5 yrs out

Great post!!! Thank you for sharing!!! I’m post op day 5. I have anxiety and depression. I went to rehab for my eating disorder and mental health issues in April 2018. This is after going to psychotherapy for over 6 years. Rehab was one of the best decisions I made. I was finally able to embrace my issues. After rehab I made the decision to put my self 1st and I scheduled my Gastric sleeve. I was always worrying about others opinions and didn’t trust my own judgement. I am so grateful that I am in a mentally better place. Dealing with my core issues prior to surgery has given me the freedom to know that this is the beat thing I could have ever done for myself.

    Ds Post-op

I had my surgery the 5th of September. I am on the same boat as you. Runny stools. The docs put me on miralax but I stopped taking it after post op day 2. It was too much for me lol I am taking liquid Tylenol for pain and every time I take it I go straight to the bathroom. From what I’ve read and friends that have had the procedure, getting the runs and or being constipated is normal. It just forces me to continue to hydrate. I’ve even added coconut water to increase my potassium. My potassium was low the day of surgery and had to be supplemented. I wouldn’t use anti diarrhea stuff unless your doctor agrees. Honestly, you will end up being constipated and playing a yo yo game with your bowels. With all the bloating I’ve used gas x. Besides that I’m focusing on hydration. Good luck with everything!!!

    More than weight loss

Sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. You are so inspiring. Just some advice since I’m post op day 3...get a heating compress. It has helped me so much. Make sure you get anti nausea meds prior to the surgery and after. I have lavender and peppermint essential oils to help me relax and make my pillows smell good. Oh yeah, a lot of pillows. I made sure to buy a king size pillow and took it to the hospital. It has helped me a whole lot. I have like 10 pillows on my bed lol 😆 I also bought some rose water toner spray to spritz on my face for a little pick me up. Those little extra things have helped me. Take care!!!
  6. I am so glad I found this forum and took people’s advice. I was scared, anxious, sad, confused before and after surgery but I already knew I was going to feel that way. Lol 😂 Best advice... 1)stay on top of pain med routines. DO NOT WAIT!!! 2) I made sure to ask for anti nausea meds prior to surgery and after. Has saved my life!!! 3) walking is going to alleviate all the built up gas...so get that ass up and walk lol 😂 4)forcing myself to stay on schedule with hydration. Whether it’s water, popsicle, juice, protein water, soup. Honestly, it has helped me a whole lot. 5) my support system. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster but having family and friends that are supportive has really helped. Forget about the judge mental ones. Leave them out of this! Just wanted to say thank you to all the people that have shared their stories and reached out to me. I am so grateful that this forum exist. It has really given me a place to feel safe! 🤪😀
  7. I’m on my pre op diet and I totally cheated yesterday. Got the munchies and made the decision that I needed to let myself eat. Today’s a new day, I’m back on track. 2 days left before my surgery. Surgeons office called me Friday and moved up my surgery to this Wednesday. Just wanted to confess my food sins before my surgery. 🤪😬🤪🤪🤪🤪
  8. Feeling much better today!!! Thanks for the support!!!💖
  9. Thank you!!! I appreciate it!!! Good luck to you as well😀
  10. Hello, Finally got the courage to write my first post. Surgery date is September 7th. I’ve been fighting to get the surgery for over a year and I finally got approved for the sleeve. I was so motivated and excited but I am feeling so emotional today. It’s my first day on my Pre-op diet and I am feeling so sad. Any words of wisdom???
