Hi, I am 26yrs old and was just banded on 5/19/08! I too have only had one other surgery other than this and it was an outpatient surgery so the thought if getting another was pretty scary! It was something that I debated with for a long time. I weighed 332 and am 5'5" at starting time, I have lost 24 pounds so far...thats being on a liquid diet for 3 weeks so far. I will be honest with you it is really a challange, it is something that you have to want. I can tell you that it was a huge choice I made. I can seriously say that I am and was an active person, I just loved to eat! I love kickboxing and running on the treadmill. But I would never do it cause I was always out eating. Research it, find a great Dr. and do it if you are willing to commit to it for the rest of your life! It will be work! Good luck!

Hi ya'll! I am on my 4th days of liquid, still have this weekend and all of next week to go. It really is mind over matter. I bought one of those rubbermaid drinking containers that holds 32 oz and have that sitting next to me all day. I cut up some strawberrys and placed them in my water and my water tasted so yummy! It takes awhile for the flavor to come out but when it does its good! I also put lemon in my water to make it not so boring! If it helps any I bought a juicer and have been juicing fruit and veggies to give me a variety. My dr. said it was ok to drink 1 slim fast a day so I have been doing that for breakfast. I can also eat sugar free fat free pudding...and that is helping! I bought Jello to but haven't opened those yet! I have also been tanning to get my mind off of it and been hitting the gym right after I leave the tanning place. I am planning on cutting up cucumbers and putting them in my water too to see if it gives it flavor because I heard it was delicious! We can do it!!!:biggrin:

Let me start off by saying that I have been addicted to this site for a couple of months. I finally decided to sign up today! I initially thought about getting the lap band done but I didn't know how to go about it. One day I went to the Dr.'s for heartburn and my Dr. was busy so I got the next Dr. in line. I met Dr. Lee that day, he had had it done 6 mths. before and he totally set me up for everything. I have Aetna HMO and he gave me referrals to see everyone he went to see. I went to Dr. Storey's seminar (the Dr. that did Dr. Lee's) and spoke to the girls there. About a week after, I called his office to get an appointment and spoke to Brittney. I asked her what all I would need to bring in with me or what the insurances would require. On my own, I started calling all my Dr's, Obgyn and set up an appointment to get my psych evaluation done. On the day of my appointment April 10th, I turned in all my paperwork that I Brittney said would be needed. Keep in mind I had started this process even before I knew I wanted the surgery....well today I got a call from my Dr's and Brittney told me I had been approved and it would be covered 100%! Now, I am nervous, my surgery is set for May 19th...eeeeehhh! I am to start my liquid diet on May 5th...I need suggestions on how to start! :glare:

Wow, Thanks Enchanted! That is great advice. I was thinking about doing something like that...I am going to have to stay strong and dedicated. The weekend before my surgery my cousin graduates from UT Austin so we will be there for that and on May 10th my sister graduates from University of Houston....parties...and on a liquid diet. ugh!
