SHNGSTAR reacted to Aprilgal in April surgeries?
Hmmm. Let's see. I am still sore. I have timers on my phone set to keep me on target liquids wise. I am trying to get in 5k steps a day but always find that I am fatigued after being active sometimes. To be honest, I didn't have any expectations pre-surgery- I do think things will be more clear about my new reality once I am no longer in pain.
So, I think things are going okay. I did put on about 10 pounds worth of fluids due to iv while in the hospital, but I am happy to say I reached my pre-surgery weight yesterday.
    How are you doing?

SHNGSTAR got a reaction from FluffyChix in Sleeve 5 years ago; now revision to bypass??
My thoughts exactly. I just returned from my endoscopy this morning. sleeved over 6 years ago and noticed return of reflux (weight gain) and wanted to check it out. Turns out my sleeve is a little stretched and although I was nervous about bypass, I'm moving forward after today as I am not going back and I know what I didn't do with the sleeve..I fully own my part in this setback. I'm doing the pre stuff for revision to bypass and wondered if I was the only one as this doesn't appear to be a big topic. This is my 2nd chance to get it right.

Don't worry, these doctors know what they are doing and the complications are few and far in between and usually related to other health issues or patient non compliance. Do EXACTLY what the doctor tells you and you'll be fine. I'm not gonna candy coat it, the first 6 weeks really suck not being able to eat.. But once you can eat, you don't really wanna eat.. Good luck and don't go big, go small..😁

I am right there with you. Scared as hell and nervous as all get out. It's normal and when I talk to myself (often) I tell myself doing something that I fear, demonstrates bravery. It helps me with resetting my thinking. I'm tired of my knees hurting, found out Friday my sleeve is dilated and gastric polyps. If I can stop taking meds for acid reflux (over 10 years), have knees that don't ache and buy a smaller bra (eventually) I'm going for it. You are not alone in this; I got you in prayer. Take a deep breath and get ready to embrace the next chapter in your life.

Going through process to get approved for Bypass after Sleeve. Sleeved in 2012 and have regained the 70 lbs lost. Acid reflux is returning, though it never fully went away. Just turned 55 and wondering about process and healing now that I've gotten older. I was a nervous wreck prior to getting gastric sleeve and once again find myself in that space. Same surgeon so that makes me feel better. He is one of the top bariatric surgeons in country but surgery is surgery. Woke up this morning thinking about bowel obstruction, and long term issues. Anyone over 50 have any issues post conversion?

SHNGSTAR reacted to Fabtas in I’m getting a bypass despite the fact I have a sleeve done
Hello! So glad to see this thread! I feel less alone 😀 I had the sleeve done Sept 2014. Within a week I lost my home (housemate dramas), my car and my job. I lost a fair bit of weight, never reached goal. I never went to follow up appointments with the surgeon, nor a dietitian. I made mistakes, based on what was happening in my life. I didn't prioritize my new eating habits. I knew it was only a "tool" but didn't live it that way.
All the weight is back on now. And boy have i felt like a total failure at times because of it (not any more).
So now i'm contemplating the bypass, and looking at forums to see other peoples experiences.
Gerd typed above is interesting. I reckon I might have it.
I wonder how many people put all the weight back on after sleeve? Or bypass?
