100 lbs in under a year?
Liz The New Me replied to mousecat88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was a 64 oz of water a day. That was a lot for me. When I just hate water. Wish I could go back to that but I get the same results when I drink the water now. So I have to find other means to get the water intake. Shakes, hot tea, popsicles, soups and broth. -
PRE -OP I was taking all the pills. Then after I could not handle the taste and neither could my stomach. I have been on the Patch since the end of Sept. Just had one set of blood work done 2 weeks ago all came back great.

I'm in the 50+ club. Sleeved in September 2018 I try not compare myself to the young ones. My metabolism has been dead for years. So yes it may be slower but I think if it is then maybe I will not have to deal to badly with the loose skin to much. LOL

It can be done. I did it!
Liz The New Me replied to Paul Clarke's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Paul Clarke Thank you for taking the time to write your story. There is wisdom in reading it. I am a newbie to still all. Yes it is hard to not compare yourself to others. I have to remind myself that is took me how long in being this big size and I am losing it faster that it took to put on. You did an incredible job in losing all this weight in that time. Be proud of yourself. I hope someone does answer you back on how to maintain it going forward. Best wishes Paul. -
So on Giving Tuesday I decided I was going through my closet. I may have only lost 40 lbs. so far but they do not fit any more. I put together 6 bags of pants, shirts, socks and shoes. I gave them to the Christian mission in my town. What a great feeling. I may not have the money to donate but I can help in other ways.

OMG! That reminds me. I used to say this all the time..."Look at her she has no meat on your bones, that's why she is so cold." So NOW I'm the skinny girl. LOL
-
ME TOO! I'm only down 40 lbs and I have 5 blankets on my bed. If you new me you would know this is not me. I was told from a friend that you will be cold all the time. I did not believe her, I was so wrong.

Jealousy?
Liz The New Me replied to BeanieSprouts's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
BeanieSprouts by all means you are totally normal. I would have a hard time not thinking the way you are. BUT first you come FIRST. Start by you have lost 120 lbs. in 8 months!!!!! WOW Go back and look at some old photos and then at your current pictures. I'm sure you will see the difference. Second you don't want it to come back on and have to start all over again. Always think of the future picture of where you want to be. Plus if she is a friend she should be supportive of you. -
Congrats on your accomplishment! I'm with you on having all done at the same time. Knowing me if I just had only half I may not go back for the rest. But you will have to give yourself the time to heal. Be patient with yourself. Best of luck and keep us posted.

Pre-op diet and me don't agree
Liz The New Me replied to the.great.disappearing.kelly.trick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm allergic to Soy and that sounds like one of the side effects. Try another shake product without the soy in it. -

1.5 years out - I get a cold/flu every month. Please help!
Liz The New Me replied to wiredlain777's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel your pain. So my motherly instants is kicking in. Go buy a ready made rotisserie chicken. Take the skin off. Put the white meat, cut in small cubes in a pot of water. Add fresh parsley, celery, carrots, butter, salt, pepper, chicken cubes and garlic powder to taste. Let boil for 20 mins. Keep in refrigerator and when you feel it coming on, start eating a cup or two. This always worked for me and my kids to fight off our immune system being drained. Hope you feel better. -

Non Plain Water Drink Choices
Liz The New Me replied to Gr8Mom's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Pre surgery I became a fan of room temp just water. Was able to get in all the 64 oz a day. Now post surgery I can not stand the taste of plain water. I found in the store the squeeze little bottles of Fit & active flavoring. 0 cal, caffeine free, sugar free and none of that aspartame additive that I'm allergic to. Grape and Fruit punch my favorite. You can make it as sweet or not by how many drops you put in. Great when you go out to dinner. -
This is GROSS. Sorry ahead of time. When I eat small bites to fast. 1- I get the feeling that it is stuck in my throat and not going down. I take a couple of sips of water, thinking it will help. 2- The pressure in my chest and throat make me want to throw up. I try and all that comes up is foam. I take it this is NORMAL. It's happened twice and after the pressure is gone. Eating as slow as MOLASSES is going to kill me. You know how hard it is to have 2 or 3 small bites and everyone is gone eating. Anybody out there know what I'm talking about?

September bypass buddies??
Liz The New Me replied to MissPoodle's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I can only tell you what has worked for me. I am slow to recover also. So more of the hot broth, warm tea, and even like cream soups like tomato or chicken. My stomach only wanted warm food. It helped settled and get more water in me. But the stall weight is NORMAL. LOL Mine was 3 weeks before it moved 2 lbs. And this week has not moved at all. I am trying more food type. I'm having to learn how to eat as slow as Molasses with small bites. Or it will feel like it's stuck in my throat and I throw up foam. Learning how to deal with that now. But always get a protein shake in. Best of luck on your trip. Hope this helps.
