What is your exercise regimen? At 1200 cal,you should still lose weight no matter what. Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi,guys! So,I am 14 months after surgery, and I started binge eating.I was 279 pounds on my surgery day and I lost 142 lbs.I still want to lose 5-6 pounds, but lately I have been having those binge eating days, when I can eat up to 3000 cals.Does anyone have the same issue? On other days,I eat between 1200-1400 cals, sometimes less, and I do cardio almost every day,so I am not gaining weight yet.I do pouch reset almost every 2 weeks to prevent pouch stretching,it helps for a while until I have my another episode. Please, offer some tips how to stop doing it...Thank you! I can’t find the right protein shake!!!
Andrejeus replied to VSG.girl19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Golden Standard whey isolate is pretty good.I hated protein shakes after surgery.2 weeks of liquid diet was nightmare.I actually stopped drinking them after this 2 weeks.I do not recommend to do that.I think you should listen other people and find something that you can drink on regular basis.I lost so much hair due to lack of protein in my diet.I actually started to drink them again after a year of surgery, and I find Golden Standard pretty tasty. How many calories do you eat a day?
Andrejeus replied to april042019's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was in the same situation.I eated probably between 500-800 after 6 months of my surgery. When I was probably 8 months out,I stopped loosing weight. My bariatric nurse told me that I might in my perfect weight(I was so upset, because I was still overweight).I increased my calories to 1000,and my weight started to go down. Now I eat about 1400 calories(most of the days though I am OK with 1200). I exercise 5 times per week(only cardio) and try to do 10000 steps per day. Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Stop Hard Core Workouts after Surgery
Andrejeus replied to HipHopDiva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did not exercise for the first 6 months(I did, however, walk with my dog). After 6 months,I hit a long stall(for about 3 months-my weight was 180-170,not less not more).I started exercising, not vigorously, but most days of the week, and I was able to reach my first goal(145 lbs).I agree with you on "taking it easy" first 6 months, but after 6 months it is good idea to include exercising to your weight loss journey.I also see people who exercise vigorously, and I am happy for them, however, how long can you exercise at this level of the intensity?Boot camps, maraphon prep, etc? Not only I do not have time for this, but also I do not think it is good for your body(if doing it excessively). So,I chose moderate exercise program, which I think I can do for (hopefully) for the rest of life. Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Binge eating-14 months after surgery
Andrejeus replied to Andrejeus's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have been seeing counsellors who specialize in eating disorders for many years. All of them have different approaches how to deal with this disorder: one of my councelors wanted me to eat everything but in moderation, and the one I am seeing now want me to eat "clean" and to stay away from junk food. I decided to listen my counsellor and up my calories to 1400.Believe or not,I always ate pretty healthy, even when I was 300 pounds;my problem was with portions. Before surgery,I used to eat the whole bag of salad(which is 600 calories) + I would add grilled chicken(another 200 calories) and that was my lunch. I think best approach for binge eaters is healthy balanced diet(not keto, not low-carb,not fat -free),but normal healthy diet with appropriate amount of carbs, protein, and fat(and calories overall).Depriving myself of food only will get me in trouble.I did it all my childhood, and as consequence,I developed eating disorder.I will keep eating healthy and exercise 3-5 times per week.I will let you know if it helped me with my binges. Now I have 1-2 per week;I hope to eliminate them. Also,I think I will join BED support group;my therapist suggested one, where the organizer is registered dietician. Also,I will eliminate some foods Enoch trigger my binges;one of this foods is granola(whenever I buy one,I end up eating it in 2 days). Thank you all for your suggestions and support.I feel so much better now!Good luck with your journeys! Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app -

That's the thing,I do not have any bad food in the house.I go to the food store every weekend, buy healthy food, and cook for whole week(meal prep).Binging is a compulsion;it is not simply overeating,it is eating to the point you feel sick.I do not even enjoy what I eat sometimes(can't even taste it). It is eating disorder, and I have to deal with it for the rest of my life.Thank you for your suggestions.I think you are right about trying to eat some foods in moderation to satisfy certain cravings. Pouch reset is basically diet where you go through the same stages which you had after your WLS surgery. The one I occasionally do is 5 day pouch reset.I usually do it after my binging episodes;it helps for a while until the next episode. Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Binge eating-14 months after surgery
Andrejeus replied to Andrejeus's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It is compulsive eating;I eat to the point I feel sick.I can throw up(not intentionally)and eat again an hour later.I also can experience the dumping syndrom(not pleasent thing) and eat again later. But the worst happens in the morning:my stomach hurts,I feel nauseated,I can not even look on food, and I emotionally upset.I mean,it is disease, and I have to learn how to control it.I will follow my therapist suggestions(she actually specialized on eating disorders and she used to have one which she successfully overcame). This nutritionist is an idiot!!Honestly,if I up my calories and keep exercising,I will still lose weight(slower though).I am 5'6 and I weigh 141-144(it fluctuates),I am normal not overweight,so if I keep this weight I am actually OK with it.I just want to stop hurting myself. Sometimes I read other people posts and they keep eating 1000 cal even after 1 year after surgery(yogurt in the morning, shake in tbe afternoon, and etc),and I start to feel guilty.I mean, how? But we all have different bodies and issues,so I should stop compare myself with others.Thank you again for all your suggestions and support! Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app -

I just need to follow my therapist suggestions and up my calories. Just eat at least 1500 cal per day with normal(not low) carb intake.I mean you are so right about fad dieting. When I was in high school I was pretty active(daincing school, sports, soccer with boys),and because I was chunky kid,I put myself on very strict diet(I blame my parents for allowing me to do that).I was 110-115 lbs,but my eating habbits were horrible(I used to skip dinner and eat huge dinner for breakfast). So,my binge eating comes from my childhood.Thank you again for all your tips. I heard about this book before.I will definitely read it.I understand what you saying,I even thought about stopping exercising for a week and work on my diet(stabilize it),but exercising helps me with stress and improve my concentration(I am an engineering student),so it is hard to give up.But you completely right,I need to stop doing "fad" diets!Believe it or not,I talked to my nutritionist last week and she told me to continue 1200 diet and she said it is OK to burn 500 cal per day.I tried to explain to her that I am hungry and light headed if I am doing it,but she said it is normal. I was diagnosed with BED.I had to wait a year to be approved by psychiatrist for surgery due to my binge eating.I think I might try OA meetings!I guess it would be nice to have an extra support. I do not have bad food in my house, but in binging days I order it or hit the 7 eleven for chocolate and other sweets. Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app -

7.5 years out and still keeping, wow,I am so impressed!Good job!Thank you very much!I am quite lonely;my husband is deployed and I do not have too many friends due to constant moving.I started doing Meet up and met a few nice people(we hike in mountains every weekend),maybe I should start getting to know them better and communicate with them more.I am full time engineering student,so I am in school all the time, and when I am there,I do not feel hungry(I eat my packed lunch, snacks, and dinner ).But when I am at home alone,I start to crave some foods and I start order crap(like Chinese food or pizza). Think Thin is pretty good oatmeal with 10 or 15 g of protein. It is a little pricey, but you can buy 3 boxes for 20 dollars on Amazon and you only need it for a few weeks. Sent from my LGMP260 using BariatricPal mobile app
