Not so proud moment of 2018. video below. Sorry for the language. I thought that this would be the way I would go out of this life.

# proudest 2018 moment I am emotional posting this. I lost my mom to cancer 2013. My surgery was 2014. She never got to see me healthy. 1st goal was to do a 5K in her memory. I turned 50 in 2018. I completed two bucket list half marathons. Race to robie creek and zeitgeist. My proudest moment is enjoying my grandchildren and keep up with them. My mother never got to see how beautiful they are.

Calories
Healthy_life replied to Losing the old Harley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm four years out. I am a distance runner. I lift and train like a beast. Did you ever think you would have to work at eating more calories in your life? *smile* Transitioning in to maintenance mode take some adjusting. I used a TDEE calculator similar to yours. It says maintaining for me is 2166 calories. Honestly, I gain weight at the macros it suggests. I can burn 700 to 1000 calories on long run days. My diet changes to support my activity. https://tdeecalculator.net TDEE did not work for me. It may work for you. Your calories and macros will look different than mine. (age sex height weight activity is a factor) I had to change up the numbers from the TDEE to find what works for my body. Hate to say this but it has been a lot of trial and error. All instructions from dietician are different Below is my instructions Add low glycemic carbs Sweet potato, whole wheat bread/pasta and brown rice. If you are looking to get more calories in, eat small meals often. Eat as often as you need you need to get the calories in and stay within your calories/macros. Maintaining is a new mindset. It's no longer 3 meals two small snacks. Grazing has always been mentioned as a bariatric no no. Think of this as a maintaining health graze - several meals to hit your maintaining calories and macros. Wishing you the best, Jenn -

Measuring Food
Healthy_life replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try both methods and decide what works best for you. Log and dont go over your calories/macro to stay in weight loss mode. I'm a sleeve. I eat a small meal every 3 hours. I weigh food on a scale -
Yes, this is normal. You still have great surgery restriction. Getting your food in may seem like a chore. The restriction will be less as you get further out from surgery. hang in there and trust the process.

It's a new year. This is a perfect time to recommit to your plan. A great place to start is joining the January 2019 weight loss challenge. Thanks @GreenTealael for creating it. https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/421742-❤-january-2019-challenge-❤/?page=2&tab=comments#comment-4731341 I had my first gain in my third year. I got complacent with my diet. (Extra calories, carbs and old habits) I went back to basics and worked back to my maintaining weight. Four years out and I have gained during the holidays. I am back in weight loss mode working it down. It's slow but I'll take it.

To much for a meal?
Healthy_life replied to bamby021's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How many meals do you have a day? Are you maintaining eating this much. I’m trying to maintain however can’t seem to eat the required calories I'm not sure what your maintaining instructions are. My dietician had me add low glycemic carbs to slow/stop my weight loss. I eat several small meals through the day to hit my calorie and macro goals. -
Everyone day eating habits 7-10 months PO

All I can give you is my experience at 7 months out - weight loss mode 900 to 1000 calories - protein 60-100 - low carb. (My maintaining calories and macros are different) If you are concerned if you are not eating enough calories contact your dietician. If your workouts are above the average fitness level. You will need to fuel your body differently. Contact your dietician. If you are going into maintaining phase contact your dietician for instructions. -
