Not very expensive in the US for a bag of garlic roasted riced cauliflower. Many people buy or grow fresh and make their own. Cost and choice of organic is a personal decision. -

So, you are eating the same amount of protein as any other bariatric patient. You would agree 60 grams is not a high amount of protein. Right? Great that you care about other people health. I am a vet. I am not in renal failure or have cancer. Dr's labs and check ups are phenomenal. I'm in the best shape of my life. All of this and I am not on your plan. I have absolutely no problem in informing people about possible risk But, your statements of your plan is the only plan is false. -

We get it. You are anti any other food plan but yours. So any dietitians plan that is different than yours is an agenda? Your statement is false. Many of us have proven successful outcomes that our plans have worked long term. Why does it matter to you that it's not your plan? Out of curiosity how much protein do you eat in a day? -
Family bad-talking weightloss sugury
Healthy_life replied to Medowsweet's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You are going to run into many people that are against bariatric surgery. Since this is family, I would tell talk to them about your decision and give them the medical facts. If they are supportive invite them to an appointment or surgeons seminar. If you find that they are unsupportive and negative. There is no need to beat your head against the wall defending your decision. They may change in time after they see your success and how healthy you become. -

Why I eat baked potatoes, brown rice and whole grain bread
Healthy_life replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's a repeated angry rant and a forced eat carb campaign. Some how @Creekimp13 feels none of the rest of us know what we doing. Including all the medical professionals. If it was a thread on why their diet didn't work and they found this as an option (without judgment on other plans) I would have more respect for the original poster if this was an honest talk about plan alternatives Question to the original poster @Creekimp13 Why did your instructions not work for you? How far out were you when you noticed it? -
Why I eat baked potatoes, brown rice and whole grain bread
Healthy_life replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My disclaimer for anyone pre op or new to bariatric eating. Stay on your plan and learn how to eat and fuel your body. Yes, Dieticians plans work. I have great recipes with riced cauliflower. (I have a stuffing recipe just in time for thanksgiving) Many reasons for dieticians instructions not working (no judgment for anyone struggling with theses issues) Complications, medical issues, medications, wrong type of surgery, hormones, pregnancy, Grazing -eating above macros and calories. Dietitians may change to a new eating plan due to the reasons above. Some choose an eating plan on their own. -

If cost is a factor on the bagged rice or mashed cauliflower for you. You can make your own. -
Dietician instruction are just as different for maintaining as they are for weight loss phase. Glad you have a consult to dial your diet. My instructions. I was encourage to add low glycemic carbohydrates to slow/stop weight loss to maintain. Whole grains, Whole wheat pasta/breads, brown rice, sweet potato. ( nothing white or processed)(I don't tolerate brown rice well. I feel bloated and lethargic). She gave me a carb range to stay within. https://www.health.harvard.edu/healthbeat/a-good-guide-to-good-carbs-the-glycemic-index I have always spaced out my meals to four to six smaller meals a day. My restriction with the sleeve was noticeably less after a year. Maintaining in year four, I eat protein fruits, vegetables, nuts, grains, beans, dairy and low glycemic carbs. I still stay away from sugar and processed stuff. I indulge once in a while. My maintaining diet changes to three programs. I am female 5'5" and 130 pounds. Maintenance :1300 to 1600+ calories give or take. When I gain I am back to basics: 1000 to 1200 calories. I am carb sensitive I gain in a heartbeat. The weight comes off slowly. It's knowing your body physiology. Distance running: my calories and carb ratios increase to a range that I'm surprised I can get in. I got to goal doing elliptical and a bit of weight lifting. My goal was a 5K in memory of my mother. Checked that off my bucket list my first year. Each year I have increase distance. I used a sports medicine dietitian to learn how to fuel my body for long runs with a sleeved stomach. I'm curious to see what your maintaining plan looks like. If you don't mind, please post back and share it.

Setting HEALTHY & REALISTIC goals
Healthy_life replied to AshMarie794's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is going to be different than all your other diet attempts in the past. It's possible to take your new eating and workouts to places you never thought you could. Shoot for the stars! Looking forward to see how you feel at onderland. It will be here before you know it. 150 why not? I still pinch myself and cant believe what I weigh and how much my life has changed. Great things are coming your way. Your mind will be able to wrap itself around all this with time. Enjoy the WLS ride. . -
I still work on night snacking years out. My late night snacking is old behavior, head hunger and cravings. I buy a veggie tray and allow myself as much of it as I want until full. If I try to bargain with myself for another option then I know its head hunger. You situation may be more than breaking habit. If this is a medical issue, I agree with getting medical advice.

Setting HEALTHY & REALISTIC goals
Healthy_life replied to AshMarie794's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congrats on all your weight loss. When did you figure out where you wanted to end up after all your hard work? All my hard work led me to my goal and beyond. My number was picked out of the air. I was fortunate to meet it. How did you narrow down where you wanted to end up?I struggled to picture what that would feel or look like to be a lower weight. Weight loss outcomes are an unknown factor. I used these three things to help me visualize possible outcomes. weight loss simulator. It's not real accurate but helped https://modelmydiet.com/ Mybodygallery https://www.mybodygallery.com/ and a BMI chart -

I applaud you for addressing your medical issues and moving on to a more qualified medical professional. While you are waiting for the process of seeing a new Dr. Search around the boards for others that have had or are experiencing the same struggles. Why I eat baked potatoes, brown rice and whole grain bread
Healthy_life replied to Creekimp13's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the same plan here in the US that you have in Aus. First year low carb. After goal add more healthy carbs. The mantra protein first is right after surgery. This is because you can hardly get calories in to hit your protein goal. And this term gets way too much hype. You are still eating other foods and carbs. Not sure what a no carb plan is. Is it a 100% protein diet? -

How did you choose a goal weight?
Healthy_life replied to PopsFury's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I pulled it out of the air. For me, It's not so much a number or size. It's getting off medications, reversing type 2 diabetes, being active, finding adventures, playing with the kids. Learning and continuing to live a healthy for years down the road. I like the idea of focusing on small goals and reward yourself when you hit them. Your goal number does not need to be decided on right away. Congrats on 117 pounds down. fantastic! -

Amen. Ya, Try harder with surgical complications ..Ugh The judgment placed on people's struggles in BP is less than helpful. Not everyone experiences a smooth process with WLS.
