Healthy_life replied to Anglkrys2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's your choice to follow Doctor's instructions to take care of an ER situation or ignore it. The only one who has to be happy with the outcome of that decision is you. Can you get treatment for IBS from another DR? All post/opinions are appreciated. Even when we don't agree on issues. Some of us are tough love others may be a softer tone. We are still here for the original poster out of concern. -

Healthy_life posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Happy Halloween! Another year of candy temptation. Wow, pre surgery I could not wait for the leftover halloween treats. Things have changed and it's a great feeling. I've managed not to hand out andy each year. I'm taking the grand kids trick or treating at the zoo. What are your ways of dealing with the temptation? Anyone rocking costumes after weight loss? photos please!!!! -

It's personal choice. How strict or sack you want your diet to look. We all have different body physiology. Carbs and sugars may work for one person and not for others. No judgment for either routes if it get us to the same goal. Does not matter what type of surgery or what food plan you have, Any of us can have weight gain. Surgery is not magic. This will be a lifetime of healthy choices. -

My shower is coffin sized. Now I can easily bend over to shave my legs. -
Relationship changes are possible. But may not happen. For me, People that are supportive have stayed supportive in my life. Some friends are battling their own weight loss issues. They had a hard time seeing my success and the relationship changed. Others were never supportive and negative to begin with. I was happy to cut them from my life. It's a strange phenomenon. We are still the same person with the same core values. The only changed is our size. It's interesting to sit back and notice how some people react to your body changing.

Forbes: Why high protein diets may be linked to Cancer
Healthy_life replied to Creekimp13's topic in Rants & Raves
For the bariatric patients and potential bariatric patients reading the posters article. Please do your own research and fact check with your medical team about your specific diet plan. @Creekimp13 eats the same amount of protein as any other bariatric patient. She can agree, a bariatric diet is not high protein. It's also not 100% animal protein. You will not be eating 100% protein (exception first out protein shakes while you heal from surgery) You will progres to a variety of other foods. Not all of your protein comes from animal sources You will be adding beans and fruits and vegetables as you progress out from surgery No one is on a NO carb diet. They will come from sources approved on your plan. I will not respond to anymore of this thread. Its intent is clickbait, attention seeking and to cause drama. -
New study (2018) reveals the pros and cons of gastric bypass surgery in obese individuals with type 2 diabetes
Healthy_life replied to Born in Missouri's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The article say's "potential " adverse events that require monitoring and potential treatment. Risks with all medical procedures and disease. good information. Complications with type two diabetes left untreated “Diabetes is a condition expected to gradually progress over time. If type 2 diabetes goes untreated, the high blood sugar can affect various cells and organs in the body. Complications include kidney damage, often leading to dialysis, eye damage, which could result in blindness, or an increased risk for heart disease or stroke. Unfortunately, the effects of high blood sugars are not limited to this,” Dr. Aluri says. Chronic conditions, like neuropathy (nerve damage), gastroparesis (issues with stomach emptying) can also develop. Diabetes mellitus, Dr. Aluri says, could kill someone if not diagnosed and managed properly. Extremely high blood glucose can even lead to coma (hyperosmolar hyperglycemic non-ketotic state). -

@BigViffer and @BlueCrush can help you out with much of this. They lift and have great results. I am a contradiction to weightlifters. I distance run and lift. I have burnt muscle in the past. It's not a healthy look for me. I have also built muscle and strength. For me it's keeping consistent with lifting. I also have to tweak my diet A thread that may interest you https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/418762-is-it-possible-to-build-muscle-after-the-sleeve-im-about-to-find-out/?page=3

Leaving the rest. Just wanted to represent to new patients that 60 to 100 is not high. I don't want to see unnecessary fear mongering.
