Lori, I was banded 10/6/08 and I am 54 yr old. Starting weight was 260 and pre-op was 243 I feel great...I have been on clear liquids and protein since surgery. I haven't had much problems with gas or hunger either (only mind hunger lol) I go for my post op tomorrow afternoon but my weight is definitely down! We are but you need to get your protein drinks in too...apparently the one I got isn't the best for me LOL They just have a strange taste to me. I got the designer whey in french vanilla..it mixes with water.

Don't feel bad. Val. We will just meet another time. I feel really good( 4 days out from surgery). I think the Protein is the worst part for me!

Hi Christina and welcome! I can't answer all of your questions but will tell you my experience. I started this process in Feb and had my surgery Monday 10/6/08. I also have Independent Health and was approved in just 1 or 2 days! It is a long process but I think it will be well worth it. First step is to contact the Bariatric Clinic at Buffalo General for the application. When that is filled out and returned you are then invited to a seminar. If you read some of the earlier posts you will find the phone numbers you need. All the testing is done during business hours and some take several hours. Actually surgery time is (I think) 45 minutes or so. I was up and walking around the day of surgery. You spend 1 night in the hospital and then home. My first checkup is 10/14/08. I'll see if I can find the numbers to call for the application....Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

Linda, I have had very little gas pain. I don't feel hungry ..bloated maybe with trying to drink 1 ounce every 15 minutes.. I have no trouble getting in or out of bed yeah you have a twinge or two of pain as you get up but nothing you can't deal with. I have taken no pain medication since leaving the hospital. I really feel good!

It is usually in the afternoon...my appointment is at 12:45 so I will try and get there early. Yes my husband is from England (met him on the internet) We have been married 5 yrs now. Ok now it's day 3 after surgery...same complaint (port site) other than than I feel great. Linda you will do awesome!!!

Hi all, I am home and feeling good. Port site is pretty tender but otherwise I feel great! Thanks to Judy and Band for their visits on Tuesday--nice to put a face with the name Linda, sorry I missed you but I will try and see you on Tuesday. What time is your surgery?

Hi all.. had my surgery Monday morning, spent the night in the hospital and home on Tuesday. Other than some nausea and port site pain I feel great! Been outside walking today..the fresh air feel good.

My surgery is tomorrow morning...nervous and excited all at once By tomorrow I will officially be in bandland! I am so ready to be a Smashing Pumpkin!!! Be sure to keep happy thoughts going for me....

ok starting to get alittle nervous I was down 2 more pounds at final weigh in. That was good Surgery is only 3 days away....keep good thoughts going for me!

Good luck on Monday Bloom! You will do great! I will be watching close to see how you progress as my surgery is 10/6/08! BandofGold..can anyone go for that aqua therapy or did your doc have to send you? and to all those who already have the band...is there anything I can get ahead of time that I will need after surgery? any suggestions or advice would be great!

Hi all! Saw Dr. Hoffman today and I am scheduled for surgery Oct 6th! So now I have gone from "I can't wait til surgery is scheduled" to "OMG am I doing the right thing? isn' that too soon...maybe I should wait..." DH is laughing at me...says I'm a nut case and everything will be fine! Don't know what I would do without him!

Hello everyone....Can I join the Smashing Pumpkins too? I just got my surgery date Oct 6th! All I need is the insurance approval and my doctor said that won't be an issue for me. I am so excited and nervous all at the same time!!!!!

Hi all! I saw my doctor today and surgery is scheduled for Oct 6th 9:30AM. I don't have insurance approval yet but the doctor said not to worry...approval is almost guaranteed! I am so ready to join the "October bandsters"!!! :biggrin:

Hey me too! Born and raised in Cheektowaga, raised my kids in Buffalo (Lovejoy area) and now live in Akron NY. Such a small world I see my doc on Sept 9th and hope to be banded soon after.

Bandofgold...Who did your surgery? I am working with BGH and Dr. Hoffman...hope to have surgery Sept or Oct!
