Do you think people should be paid for there stories about there weightloss?
berrypatches replied to Sarah.R's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many of the girls that work in my clinics office have had wls and so speak from experience, was a big selling point for me, seeing was believing! -
I was banded 4/17 and had diet coke my 5th week after surgery, before fill. Had diet coke, then had acid reflux so bad 24 hours, I was cured. Want no more lol! Guess I had to go thru it to know it---my hard head! Patches

If you had to have an emergency unfill would your emergency room be able to help you?
berrypatches replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just filled Thursday and taking trip to St. Lucia n couple of weeks and thinking about care there. I have always wondered about regulr Dr.s in U.S. but not really when traveling. I guess we take each day as it comes and do the best we can given circumstances or Ill be spending summer all alone at home:blush: -
How Much Protein is too much?
berrypatches replied to VenturaCtyGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys! Question about the amount of protein---i drink an Isopure a day (40 g pro) is this correct to do and wanted to get pro this way from now on (food too). I would like to use Iso to make up for Protein I may miss at meals . Dr. recommended these, but now Im reading that body can absorb 20mg at a time. Little confused :confused2:! Any advice appreciated in advance Patches -

Frustrated and depressed
berrypatches replied to HopefulinTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hopefull in Tx---I get fills at TLC Edge also---small world! Had surgery there in Plano--went super duper and awaiting fill next Thurs. Talked w/Dr.Kim about weight gain and he encouraged me to drink Isopure thru middle of day, 11-3, for 3-4 days . Hope this helps:) Patches -
How can I continue to lose weight before first fill
berrypatches replied to slimm2be's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I resorted to Isopure from 11 to 2 everyday and after 3-4 days weight started ever so slowly down again. BMs make a difference as stated before. I drink lotsa wa-wa and eat/drink lotsa Protein. I must say I felt guilty about paying 4 bucks a drink but my Dr. convinced me I AM worth it and Ive come this far......so I drink and lose---cheers to losers! Patches -
Vegas Vacation & Lapband???
berrypatches replied to Ann D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im new at this fill/unfill thing but Im sure Ill catch on: ) I dont see anyone as weak except myself, which is hard to admit and not pretty. Seems I must fall on the "cupcake sword" every morning. I will be going on many trips this summer w/fill. I deal w/ guilt and fear issues concerning food. Love/hate relationship and really just want a truce w/it . I may be in over my head--fill/unfill--dunno  patches:) -
Can't stop eating!
berrypatches replied to okpunkinpie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont know what else to do besides diet? When all else fails thats all I know. Im not too good with drinks as meals, if I have choice, but thought back to what dietician suggested and went to GNC and bought Isopure and drink slowly all afternoon. To my surprise I stay full from 11 to dinner and eat sensible meal. I hope this helps. Mentally I feel good b/c I feel in control. I get hungry in evening just not so ravenous. Hi Protein seems to be a good filler:) Oh fill where art thou! Patches -
Vegas Vacation & Lapband???
berrypatches replied to Ann D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I havent thought about getting unfilled for fun??? Interesting, will ponder this: ) Im getting first fill on 4/22 and since Im self pay my husband may "shoot" if i even mention this. Is this the secret to having the best of both worlds? So let me see if this is correct: Get fills, lose weight, unfill for holiday, refill, continue weight loss.... This sounds too good to be true! Sounds like heaven but is it very expensive w/fills and unfills? patches:) -
Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
berrypatches replied to 80s_chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums

Penny I was banded at TLC Edge in Plano tx 4/17 and cost was $9990 at that time--is new clinic and are/were(?) running this special. The only out of pocket expense was psych eval. which took about 5 min. with my psychiatrist. Would recommend them highly.
Good luck:)

Also Ive been very hungry same as befor band---this normal? patches:)

Post-Op..do you hve any regrets?
berrypatches replied to dmu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery done Plano Tx, self pay $9990--lost 20 pounds! I never had trouble "getting" the weight off, keeping it off is where i failed miserably and became tired and fed up with yo-yo game. Hopefully, this will be my last time down from "Super Obesity Mountain" and I can just be a norml human:) I would do it again as I need more hands on help than just positive thinking and encouragement(although these are helpful)! When I came to this conclusion, the band was perfect for me:) smiles.... patches -
Help! I can't get full.
berrypatches replied to Catarina's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Of all the things about this wls surgery that is in the back of my mind I fear that it wont work for me???? Negative thinking, I guess, but Ive lost and gained the same 75 pounds so many times failure seems normal:( Im 4 weeks from surgery and getting fil at 5 week mark as Im STARVIN! I hope the fill will help me stay full, I am already becoming more calorie conscious focusing on Protein (waking up in middle of night starving). Happy fill day---I hope! smiles:) Patches -
Flp Congrats on the band! Yes I was VERY fatigued for about 2 weeks, I just have a hard time with Liquid Protein, dunno why. Was able to walk around block S-L-O-W-L-Y about 10 days out. Banded 4/17 and waiting for fill next week--not soon enough for me !!! Time and patience pays dividens---your best is yet to come:) toodles patches:)

berrypatches replied to 80s_chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello banded 30ish girls! I am 37 and banded 4/17 in Plano Tx. Does anyone know if its normal for me to be sore off and on and to have trouble buttoning pants(w/out port pain--sore) and bra(wire) pushing down on port ? Jeans push port upward wire pushes down and by the end of day I feel like Ive had a full stomach workout:( I dont want to run to Dr. as I stay home and hope it will work out in time, but I dunno. Does this sound anywhere close to normal for port site? Thanks for reading and any advice welcomed:) patches -

Headache, weak spells
berrypatches replied to JennyLynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just banded on Thurs. 17 and only allowed liquids--barely surviving! Sugar has been a bear for me to deal with but has gotten easier over time(no more dizzy, fainting spells). I do feel weak but dunno if its recovery or lo-sugar, lo-carb issue. My surgery went well but I was in major pain for 4 days:( Just glad its behind me know and looking forward to skinney days lol! Cheers to a new you! patches:) -
