    Bowl movement

My nutritionist also recommended Metamucil. I drink it once a day plus take a stool softener and all is good. I like the full feeling I get from the fiber too. Helps me eat less!

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

@sideeye where did you find that pasta?
  4. Can you call your surgeon/nutritionist even though you’ve moved? Seems like they should be able to give you some advice over the phone. Hopefully you’re taking multi-vitamin, calcium, etc?
  5. You should do fine with yogurt. I was able to have yogurt on the liquid diet and never had any issues.

    Aetna

@SusieQ2019 I think it was about a week so hopefully you’ll get an answer pretty soon

    Aetna

I have Aetna. They required 6 months of medical supervision for weight loss before surgery, but didn’t require that I lost weight during that 6 months. They approved my surgery pretty quickly (about a week, I think). But there are many different Aetna plans so your requirements might be different than mine.

    360 Lower Body Lift

    Good luck tomorrow!
  9. My program gave me a card that says I’ve had surgery which only allows me to eat small portions so let me order off the kids menu. I’ve actually never used it (I try to get an app or a small salad with chicken, or a turkey burger no bun, etc). It is a thing! 😀
  10. I would suggest contacting your medical team for advice on this. They should be able to help you the best.
  11. Try unflavored protein in water with Crystal light. I drank that to mix up my protein shakes a little pre-op.
  12. For me, it was a couple weeks
  13. I was expecting a 4-week liquid diet due to fatty liver but my program changed the requirements while I was still pre-op so I only had to do 2 weeks. Honestly it was a huge relief. But now that it’s behind me, I don’t think it would have been too awful because it wasn’t bad after the first few days. Hang in there—you can do it!
  14. My program had me wait until my first post-op visit to start calcium; that was 2 weeks post op.

    Swelling legs and feet

Yes and yes! No more swelling. My shoes are all too big now—used to be ‘wide’ now normal.

    NSV's Spring 2019 Edition

Exercise NSV today! I walked 5k on the treadmill in 1 hour 7 minutes. I’ve never walked more than 40 minutes on the treadmill so this was a big accomplishment for me. I I entered a 5k that’s in a couple weeks so it’s very motivating. 😊

    Non Scale Victories

NSV for me today— The lady who works at our dry cleaners who I’ve seen for years didn’t recognize me until I told her my name. 😳 93 lbs down, 22 to go to hit my goal!

    Traveling abroad and diet

Protein bars! I travel a lot for work and always carry Rx Bars and Quest bars with me.

    Laying down

I just noticed this was the bypass forum. I had sleeve actually.

    Laying down

It took me about a week to get comfortable on my side too. Till then I slept on my back, except for the first night home when I slept in a recliner. Getting out of bed was difficult and painful for a few days also.
  22. At one week post op (really for the first couple months) I was told to focus on protein and liquids. Was not given a calorie range but I was at around 600-700 for the first month then 600-800 for months 2 & 3. Hope that helps.

    adding in your "addiction foods"

Have you tried the pasta made from chick peas? There’s one by Barilla which has only chick peas as the ingredients. It’s a good source of protein and carbs. I’m 7 months out and that’s the only pasta I eat, and I’ll have it with some other protein so I just have a small side of pasta (about 1/3 cup). I tried zero carb bread and that did not go well. Felt sick for hours! So no bread for me in the foreseeable future.
  24. Some countries require your passport to be at least 6 months from expiring when you travel. You can find this out on the US passport website. Another thing to consider...
  25. Think positive thoughts about the important changes you’re making and how it will positively impact your life. I wish you all the best!
