Where are my 5ft tall peeps at?

I was 187 on surgery day - I had been 192 and then lost a few lbs on the pre-op diet. I'm just about 162 now, so 25 lbs since surgery day. Nowhere near as much or as fast as a lot on here - but I have the PCOS, and my starting BMI was relatively low. I was wearing Size 16 and am now in 12s that are a bit loose - hope to be in Size 10 by the end of the month. (Bear in mind that US sizes are different and you have to add 4 to get the UK equivalent. I'm from the UK, so I'm fluent in both, LOL). At 158 lbs I'll be halfway to goal, and that is the milestone I'm working on right now. How is it all going for you at about a month out?? I’m from the UK as well 😀 So you’re fitting in a US size 10? Is that UK size 14 then? I haven’t had my surgery done yet, but it’s due in under 4 weeks now!! It’s really creeped up on me!

Hello! I have PCOS as well! How much have you lost since the surgery?

My doctor doesn’t need me to be on a liquid diet, however, I’m a little apprehensive so I’ll probably do a 5 day liquid diet at the end of May.

I’m 5ft2 😀 currently 290lbs and the BMI chart says I should be 118-130lbs but that is way too small for me. I am a curvy girl with high muscle mass, so I think I’d look sick at that weight tbh the lowest I would want to be is 150lbs - my goal weight is 170-180lbs.

To tell or not to tell

Funnily enough, only my partner and a few friends I’m not that close to know. I have a weight loss Instagram account (@drasticdea_x) and a few family members found it, except my parents. My mum is completely against the idea and talked me out of having the VSG last year. I’ve decided I’m not going to tell her until the day of or day before surgery. I can’t afford to hear any negativity right now. Another close friend of mine is extremely judgemental and believes obesity surgery is for lazy individuals.
  6. First week of June! 😄
  7. I work a desk job too and plan on getting back into work the following Monday too. I will be leaving the hospital on a Friday.

The fact that you trust the surgeon is so key! I'm really glad you were able to find a good place to have it done at an affordable rate. I'm really lucky that my insurance here in the US covers it, even if I have to constantly push back against them 😝 And as far as this being your first surgery... while no one ever really wants to have surgery (I think??), I think it will help that this is something you chose as a step to help yourself become healthier. Plus you have some time to prepare yourself for the idea of it! I was terrified the first time I had surgery (two years ago... and an emergency surgery at that ☹️), but things wound up going extremely smoothly. Just remember you're in good hands and have a team taking very good care of you! Thanks for the encouragement! I’m constantly reminding myself of this! Thank you! ❤️

Hey! I will be travelling to an obesity specialist hospital in Turkey! It’s thousands of pounds cheaper to get it done there and I trust the surgeon I have chosen! Bariatric surgery in Western Europe is so expensive! And the NHS wouldn’t support me because I didn’t have enough health issues.

    June 2019 Surgery Siblings!

Hey Kassandra! My name is Deanna! I am 25 years old from London, UK. I have a partner, no children and have decided to undergo the Sleeve surgery abroad in June because I want to improve the quality of my life. I’m 5ft2, 290lbs+ I have PCOS and my insulin resistance has really messed up my cycle. I haven’t had a normal period for over a year and I’m afraid of how that’s affected my ability to conceive. I have been obese since childhood and do not want to be obese for the remainder of my 20s and upwards. I like being curvy so I don’t want to be slim/skinny but I definitely want to feel fitter and healthier in myself.
  15. Yeah lol wishful thinking. Tbh I’m not looking to be “skinny” which is what I’d be if I reached the ideal weight for my height. I like being “thick and curvy” just healthier with less belly lol I’m 100lbs give or take from achieving that look.
