  1. Revision 8/14. Apparently my body was allergic to my lapband because I always had so much gunk in my throat and nose I could barely eat and when I did it came right back out. I’m 2 weeks post-op and I haven’t had sinus issues AT ALL..... until the Texas wind blew in and now I am throwing everything up. UGH!!!! And this is the week I could finally move to purée foods DANG IT!!

    So confused!!

I am so confused!! I know “we” play by different rules when it comes to diet but.... if 1 pound is 3,600 calories and a normal intake is 1,500 - 2,000 per day and “we” only take in 500-700 wouldn’t we lose a significant weight no matter what? Then why is it so hard and some don’t? Water, protein, and work outs aside and only looking at the straight caloric intake. I just can’t wrap my head around it. Why do we lose quicker in the pre-diet than we do after surgery? Anyone else confused?

    So Over This!!

At the suggestion of my doctor I started taking a Benadryl to help me sleep and my sister suggested a B12 shot. Those 2 things made all the difference! Now I’m starting to have reflux and get nauseated after I drink my shake. Always something I guess. Thanks for all of your support!!

    So Over This!!

I really am over this! I am 1 week post op and feel .... UGH! I am a creature of habit so eating/drinking the same thing doesn’t bother me unless I start dreaming of all the food I want and can’t have. The clear protein SUCKS!!!!!! I’m just now able to really drink water. Needless to say I haven’t had enough protein and I’m dehydrated causing hot/cold flashes, not sleeping well, and fatigued would be an understatement. A prosciutto wrapped mozzarella would go a long way right now. I can now have the Premier chocolate protein drink so I drank 2 and have drank 2 bottles of water so I feel a little better. Band to sleeve is no joke!!!

    Stomach bug

Depending on where you live there are companies that will come to your home to provide IV drip. A lot of people get them for hangovers or before they go on a trip to boost their immune. It’s pricey but better than going to the ER.

    Lap Band to Sleeve

If you don’t have any crazy issues I’d look for a surgeon who will do it all at once including repair a hiatal hernia if you have one, which I’m sure you do. I had my band for 10 years and had the revision and hernia repair on 8/14. I do not recover well after ANY surgery so there is no way I would go through with it if I had to wait. If you are in Dallas or even if you’re not Dr Scott Stowers is amazing!

    Menopause

Sorry that wasn’t encouraging but more of a “your not alone” comment. Truth is everything WILL be okay and we will look fabulous no matter what that hag Mother Nature throws at us :)

    Menopause

I had a mommy make-over (152 lbs 10 years after lap-band) and 6 months later started gaining weight really fast (gained 60 lbs within 4 months which is why I’m back on the Bariactric site), got tested and I was IN menopause at 48. I read that surgery can push you in to it. I having a revision done on Tuesday and I’m scared to death it won’t work as well thanks to the hormone/surgery thing.
  10. LUCKY!!!!!! I am a liquid only pre-surgery girl. 3 days until my surgery and Mother Nature has slapped me!! Even though I don’t get the actual occurrence I get the cravings, bloating, water retention, and did I mention cravings??? I’ve done really well the last 5-6 days but now I’m STARVING and liquid isn’t cutting it. I’m just going to sleep til Tuesday :/

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

I am having a revision done 8/13. The liquid diet hasn’t been too bad (mind over matter, right?). I’ve lost 4 pounds in 4 days so that alone has kept me motivated.

Lap Band to Sleeve on 8/14

Thank you, Matt. To be honest I hadn’t even thought of that possibility.
  15. Hi everyone! Long story short ... got lap band 10 years ago and did okay but not crazy great. I went from a size 16 to 8. In April 2016 I got a mommy make over and in December 2016 started gaining weight thanks to menopause. If I hadn’t been overweight before and stressed about it I would have probably only gained 20 pounds but I freaked out causing my hormones to go crazy. So now I am a size 16 again and going in for a revision. I worked my ass off to get to a size 8 but those who knew I had lap-band tend to forget all those nights I spent at the YMCA instead of happy hour and think the band did all the work so this time I don’t want to tell anyone. My brother and SIL know but they have 2 babies and it would be really hard to go. My sister, Dad & step mother and my daughter tend to tell everyone who will listen my business. My doctor is 2 hours away so I’d like to stay at a hotel and Uber to the hospital. Has anyone gone through this alone?
