fluffy562 replied to JustKeepSwimming's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

way to go! feel proud -
my 20th wedding anniversary is coming up Oct 10. We are renting out a local bar and my favorite cover band will be playing (very excited) I will be 6/7 weeks post op by then and I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to enjoy a small nice healthy dinner and 1 cocktail that evening. Of course I will ask my doctor, just wanted to get your input. thanks.

I just returned from my doctor visit. I addressed my anniversary with him. I am 21 days post op. I have one more week of soft foods then on my own. As for a drink at my anniversary, He said I could have one and to drink slow. I'm also down 20 pounds as of today ( I'm Smiling) I definitely know that after the next week, it's going to be a slow process food wise. I'm not a crazy person thats gonna go out and binge. i barely eat 3 bites now. As long as I get my 2 protein shakes in and eat a sensible meal, ( I really miss my veggies) the doctor said take it slow. I will figure it out. I'm also not a big drinker either, but I just wanted to be able to cheers with my peeps, but one thing I do know.... You can't keep me off the dance floor.

Post op pain - be honest
fluffy562 replied to tahoegirl96118's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
i have a high tolerance for pain so I was up and walking around after surgery, I'm extremely independent and could of done it alone ( my m0m was here and didn't need her) I just iced the incisions when they were uncomfortable. I pretty much slept a lot and watched movies. oh and walking 10 mins 3 x a day -
sorry, I do not have any data or research. I'm 20 days post op (VSG) and even though they have you on a reflux medicine for the first 30 days, they have already have had to change my meds to a stronger on and I still fill food coming up and down. ( NEVER had reflux before surgery.) So I'm glad you posted this so I can get some insight as well.

i find it hard in the puree stage. because my family isn't eating any of the things I get. I buy the smallest quantity of smallest container of things, then I have to put it in a glass container for the next day. Avocados are hard to use up being my family doesn't eat, so that went to a waste. anything after 3 days in the fridge I have to toss. So don't go crazy buying a lot.

today has been interesting.... Im 18 days out, on puree stage. had a protein shake with blended fruit. (liquified) then later had a lot of water. then later had cottage cheese, and took my gummy vitamins I take everyday. about 45 min later I had more water and was moving around a lot picking up the house and my stomach felt just full and every time I moved I felt like it was coming up. a couple times it almost came up and still hours later, I can only sip water. not move around a lot. what does it mean? I'm no where near my protein today and don't think I can put anything in.???

i'm 5 days ahead of you. I will say it does get better weekly. I still cook for the family and the smells really are mental for me. when they get fast food its hard but the more I'm exposed it seems to get better. I have head hunger all the time. luckily, my stomach doesn't allow it. you're not alone!

that is one of the things I'm NOT looking forward to. I am a hairdresser and have very thin hair myself and only hope I will be able to find a style to hide any loss. I have always taken biotin and still do, but I don't think that is what causes the loss. Protein does. I'm trying to get all the protein in. If you do lose hair around the hairline of chunks of hair does fall out on sides, you can get an eyeshadow close to your hair color and put the shadow on your scalp where the hair fell out. it blends nicely.

Ive only told my husband and mom when I scheduled the surgery. I told my teenage boys 2 days before surgery as well as my two best friends. I am a hairdresser and I am sure I will be questioned as my clients see me monthly. But I'm not sure if I will say or what I will say. You have to do what is right for you. I am sad that one of my best friends of 15 years is jealous and has pulled away since. I have a gut feeling she has told her family whom I close with and I will be very disappointed if so...... this is my journey to tell, not hers

well, I don't own a scale thankfully. but i do know that my pants are sill tight and roll forward at the waist under my belly and I'm quite disappointed as well. I'm 15 days out. I went back to work this week so I'm grateful that I've been busy to not think about it.
