Usually medications/supplements promoting blood clotting and bleeding during or after surgery are stopped 2-3 weeks before surgery. These include low dose aspirin, multivitamins containing vitamins A, E, D, K, iron. Also blood thinners like warfarin. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Blood Pressure Medicine And CPAP Use After Surgery
Bari_KS replied to Trellunit's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I stopped taking my BP meds one week after the surgery because it was dropping my BP too low. My blood pressure has been normal so far. I love my CPAP and I'm not giving it away! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Getting Your Daily Protein In - after 3-4 months Post Surgery
Bari_KS replied to FluffyChix's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@FluffyChix I use a similar meal planning and for the day with Baritastic app. I log my food and water the night before or in the morning and then adjust/add/remove protein and other macros. In fact, it is very easy to log and monitor my macros. -
I used Benadryl cream to relieve the itching.

Bari_KS replied to elcee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Omg that was quite an experience, sorry you had to go through this. On the other side I admire your resilience. You are a hero! You won that battle and you're alive and well. I wish you steady recovery. I'm sure you'll feel much better in few days. -
Orange stools are often caused by eating red or orange foods. Supplements containing beta-carotene and aluminum hydroxide can turn stools orange. A lack of bile salts is one medical reason that can cause orange stool (from Google).

How long did it take you to get your surgeries?
Bari_KS replied to WeGettingThere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From submitting my paperwork to apply for WLS program to surgery 7 months. FEP BCBS insurance. 3 months of medically supervised diet. It took long for me because of availability of appointments to see necessary providers. -

VSG in less than 12hrs! I'm a nervous wreck!
Bari_KS replied to ABawdyMermaid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had VSG too, my first major surgery at the age of 62. It's normal to have anxiety before surgery but anesthesia will take care of that. My surgery was 50min but they knocked me out so good that I slept 11hrs afterwards. Got a good night sleep and lots of rest, stayed there less than 24hrs and went home. Good luck to you and see you on the losers side! -
