Baby food on pureed stage
Bari_KS replied to VeeAurora's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate green beans and sweet peas. All other baby foods had too much sugar. You can puree your own food (anything you like) at home. It's more healthier and cheaper. -
Congratulations. You look amazing and much younger than before.

1st Post-Questions about Co-morbidities Federal BCBS
Bari_KS replied to tiger_mom2001's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes that's true. I have FED BCBS basic plan too. -
At one month out of surgery you should concentrate on your protein intake and water hydration. Bariatric plate consists of 50% protein, 25% carbs and 25% fat. It means if you use 60g protein daily then your carbs should be about 30g and 30g fat.

Wow you just melted down. Amazing transformation. I love your dress.

ProCare bariatric multivitamins has everything required by ASMBS guidelines, except calcium
-
I use watermelon flavor. Tastes very good.
-
I take ProCare bariatric multivitamin and supplement it with Celebrate Calcium Citrate chews twice daily. ProCare contains 3000 IU vit. D but has no calcium. Celebrate Ca citrate contains 500 IU vit.D. Makes total 4000 IU vit. D in a day.

Do you think 49 is too old for plastic surgery?
Bari_KS replied to Panda333's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
It is never too old to be healthy, active and happy. I was 62 when i had VSG last November. My mentality of being too old changed very quickly as i started to loose weight. I'm 63 now and wear size 8 destructed jeans! And i feel GOOD! -
This is mine for comparison:

The Mayo Clinic has listed foods that sometimes are the culprit: Dairy products: The sugar lactose in dairy foods is a common cause of gas. Nonprescription products such as Lactaid or Dairy Ease may help. Many who are bothered by dairy products may still be able to eat yogurt or aged cheeses. Some vegetables: Some carbohydrates found in vegetables such as onions, radishes, cabbage, celery, carrots, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower and legumes (including dried peas and beans) can produce gas. Beano, or other products that contain simethicone (Phazyme, Gas-X, others), may be helpful. Too much fruit sugar: Prunes, raisins, bananas, apples and apricots as well as juices made from prunes, grapes and apples can cause gas. Too much fiber: Cutting back on high-fiber foods, and then gradually increasing them, can help identify the amount that can be tolerated. Some sweeteners: Sweeteners used in sugar-free chocolates and candies can cause diarrhea in some people. These sweeteners include sorbitol, mannitol and xylitol. Fatty food: Fried food, fatty meat and some sauces can cause gas.

KU Medical vs Kansas City Bariatric Center
Bari_KS replied to jodikoch's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
BTW i had my VSG in Topeka. It was done as outpatient surgery (stayed less than 23hrs at Tallgrass clinic). Dr.Berntsen has 30yrs experience as a surgery. She performed very many successful bariatric surgeries on my present and former coworkers. She's compassionate and provides very good pre and post op care. -
