Who is sick of purees? Some fresh ideas...

Ramekins are the best! They heat so nicely in the microwave or oven. Hubby, however, is sick of looking at the stacks of half eaten ramekins I have stashed in the fridge. I keep overfilling them and can't eat it all. I hate wasting food so I keep shoving them in the fridge but then never eat the rest. Oops! Thank you for these recipes - I will definitely try that pumpkin one

Who is sick of purees? Some fresh ideas...

My program requirements were 2 weeks liquid (aug 15 - 28), 2 weeks purees (aug 29 - sept 11), 1 week soft food then slowly add foods as tolerated. Now I have to admit, I've been dancing on the border between puree and soft foods for a day or two and I'm doing well. Officially on soft foods starting Wed! But, I'm super grateful for the additional puree recipes you guys posted because I will still need some standby's that are easy to digest during the transition!

    Ds Post-op

Lucky you! You'll find, by far, that constipation is a much more common problem. I certainly would not treat the diarrhea with fiber or immodium. But your doc should be consulted before you do that. I'd be surprised if they recommend it so soon after surgery. I'd wait a day and call if it's frequent and doesn't resolve. We don't want you getting dehydrated! But a once a day bout of diarrhea, man, I'd take it !

    Recommend me a fitness tracker?

My husband swears by his Garmin Vivofit. Worn it a year without a single issue. Also they have XL size to fit his large wrist. Got it on Amazon.

What do you take for Cold w/ VSG

I haven't had a cold post op yet but my standbys are: 1. elderberry lozenges with zinc or elderberry syrup (sambucus brand sugar free) 2. traditional medicinals throat coat tea w/ecinacea or elderberry tea with echinacea, drink it all day Since I started this regimen 2 years ago, neither me, hubby or kids have been sick longer than 48h. I also take traditional cold meds for symptoms and use a neti pot. But the herbal remedies are what shorten the duration. I also had a lovely homemade cough syrup made with Everclear, but that is probably going to be off the list now !

    Burning tear pain

Hey, I just had that! I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op, saw my doctor 2 days ago. I had the pain you described, it started 2 days before my appointment and was worse when i was moving around. I could get the pain to stop entirely if i sat still and rested. Anyway, when i told her about it she said "Oh, yeah, that's normal. There's a very large dissolvable stitch holding some stuff together and you'll get sore from it pulling when you become more active. In fact, since its dissolvable, it will break down at some point and you may even feel a pop if it breaks. But that's normal and the pain should get better after that." I was like, WTF?! Good news is that I took it easy for a couple of days and it's completely gone now.

    Intermittent Fasting Daily Menu/Results/Accountability

You guys, I love this thread. I have been reading it every day because I'm so excited that someone is doing all the experimenting and work about using IF after surgery. I did IF before surgery and it was instrumental in helping me lose some weight. I also felt so much more in control of my cravings and I had a ton of energy. I'm only 3 weeks out so this won't be in the cards for me for several months but thanks! Also I read it because you guys are very entertaining

    Food Before and After Photos

Hey can I play? I'm just starting week 2 of purees. Thought it could be helpful to someone to see how much I'm getting in these days. I had surgery 3 weeks and 1 day ago. OK, the first one is an Acai bowl: greek yogurt, acai puree blended with tiny piece of banana, granola ground into dust with nutritional yeast and sprinkled on top. Second is refried beans with cheese and guac. I also like this with some mild enchilada sauce on top - I can't wait to get back to spicy! Last group is meatless meatballs smashed together with nutritional yeast, marinara, and ricotta then topped with mozzarella cheese.

    Puree stage

Hahaha! Sometimes the wording can really throw you off. I just started purees 1 week ago and my group said that your total meal should be 2-3 fluid ounces in size. The majority of it should be protein but not every bit has to be since you can have fruit vegetables etc. Regardless of what you put in the 2 to 3 oz total you should eat the protein part first and finish up with the remaining items if you still have room. My first puree, it was pretty hard to get down more than an ounce but one week out it is much much easier.

    Stomach is on 🔥!

I'm glad you got a hold of your doc quickly. It's so strange how everyone heals at a vastly different pace. I had a pretty easy time with full liquids like protein shakes but the puree stage has kicked my butt! I can barely get in a bite or two at a time plus dealing with constipation. I hope you're feeling better soon!

    Weird notice

That is great! I haven't noticed my feet getting smaller (I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op) but I have a weird one too. My earlobes are thinner! I noticed it yesterday when putting on earrings for the first time since surgery. I just had to laugh.

    I shaved my head...

I bet it looks fantastic. Anytime I see women with shaved heads, I think, "There goes a badass!" Congratulations!
  18. I had a similar concern but what's working right now is Genepro protein powder for supplementation. Its a tiny scoop that dissolves a really easily in a half of a cup of liquid. So I do one scoop of protein powder which is 30 grams of protein in a half a cup of Fairlife milk. Then I add instant decaf coffee and whatever flavor I want. I have that for breakfast then I usually have another one as a snack in the afternoon. After my breakfast I'll have a bite or two of food maybe refried beans or tuna if I can tolerate it but I will have actual food for lunch and dinner. I've used the ricotta bites, refried beans, and tuna so far. I may try adding a couple of other foods this weekend. I hope you find something that works for you!

    1st Stall - GRATITUDE POST!

    I. AM. GRATEFUL!' I am so grateful for this forum and the people here. I am 16 days post-op and just hit my first mini-stall. I've not had a drop in my weight in 2 days BUT thanks to the people here I am able to stay strong, positive and consistent. Thanks to you, I knew weeks before my surgery that I would have a stall, very likely between week 2 and 4 post op. Thanks to you, I also knew that I should get a fancy scale and track my fat % (still dropping!) Thanks to you I knew that a stall would be most likely to occur when I increased my exercise before I was able to consume more calories. And most importantly, thanks to you I knew it was all going to be OK in the end. You even provided me with the tools to cope: focusing on my NSV (non scale victories) So here they are... *I no longer have dents at my temples from my eyeglasses being too tight *I no longer get winded going up my front steps *I can wear a dress without my thighs chafing *My seatbelt isn't as difficult to get on This is only 16 days after surgery!!!! So, from the freshly sleeved and those nursing your new baby pouches, I want to hear what you're grateful for even very early on. Lay it on me!

    1st Stall - GRATITUDE POST!

What scale do you have? I ordered the RENPHO Bluetooth Body Fat Scale from Amazon, $28! The app is fantastic and it's so cool to see all the stats pop up on your phone while you're on the scale. Highly recommend!
