  1. I know that this is an older post but I am a week post-op and OMG I am feeling it on my right side. If feels like somethings wants to fall out - I think its due to the gas they use for surgery also. Its comforting to know that the pain will subside but boy does it hurt - Is there nothing I can do to alieviate the pain? I know everyone has mentioned time and if that is all I can do - then that is all I can do. :-)
  2. She must kidding! I too like hopelives1234 am hoping to have an alternative to ice cream and frozen yogurt was the way I was planning to do it. I think if I am allowed to eat popsicles that frozen yogurt (especially in the portions we can eat) is acceptable. too funny!
  3. I am so sorry to hear you are in pain. I can not tell you that I know what you are feeling since I have not been banded yet, but I too have beared children and had a total hysterectomy - (and a few other surgeries). I normally have a very high pain threshold but I have found that because I am so inactive and due to some of my past surgeries I have developed a tolerance to many of the pain killers. I have lupus and with that there is pain but the meds don't always work. Healing takes time but it helps to have the right meds, a good mattress and a support system (like this one). The more you use your stomach muscles the more soreness will set in, along with the tenderness of the entrance site and the layers and layers of muscle that were penetrated to get there (ouch). I will keep you in my prayers (I hope you don't mind) for a fast recovery, please keep in touch :-)
  4. I am in the pre-stage of trying to get the lap band and I gained four pounds at my last visit with the doctor and I am worried that my insurance will not approve the surgery. Did this happen to anyone else? Is there anything I can do? Please Help!

Thank you for your support - I am hoping that I will be letting you all know that I will be getting surgery and not that I have to start all over again. :-)

    Insurance Approval Stage

Okay now all I need is my appointment with the nutritionist May 8 2008- then they submit my paperwork. unfortunately I gained 4 pounds and this might get me denied. I will keep eveyone posted on how things go
  8. Hi Everyone, I am a month away from my last evaluation prior to submitting to my insurance (Aetna). My Lap Band doctor is Dr Wright (So Great) and my Nutritionist is Julie whom I think is wonderful for helping re-think a lot of my terrible eating habits. I have taken what Julie has taught me and began practicing them at home. My sons have caught on to some of the basics and have lost a few pounds on their own. Who would have taught chewing food 15-20 times before swallowing could make such an impact (wow)? I am waiting for the day when I am told that I am scheduled for the Lap Band. I hear so much about the Lap Band and all the things I will have to change before it can be successful. After weighing this (things to change) against all the things I have had to give up and negatively gained because of the weight - I see the Lap Band as a positve and encouraging tool to reverse some of these effects.

    Help - I gained 4 pounds

I Hope that the insurance sees it as a small lapse - whatever happened to the yo-yo 5 pounds. I see my nutritionist next week (final visit) hopefully those 4 pounds will disappear. I don't know if that will even help. - Thank you for the quick responses - I was a little uneasy.

    Insurance Approval Stage

Here are some of the things I have done up-to-date: Attended a Seminar (End of 1/2008) 1st Dr.'s appt 2/5/08 1st Nutritionist Appt 2/2008 (paid for out-of pocket and she is worth it) 2nd Dr.'s appt 3/2008 2nd nutritionist appt 3/2008 EGD Scope 3/2008 Psych Eval 3/2008 3rd Dr.'s Appt 4/2008 and 3rd nutritionist appt 4/2008 Prior to considering lap-band, I have had a sleep Study with a severity level of 90, I have been put on byetta injections and glucophage for type II diabetes, Crestor for high cholestrol, and to top it all off I have 2 autoimmune diseases Lupus & Hashimotos (with Sjogrens and Raynauds as secondary symptoms) - so this is a lot of medication for any person to take - so if dropping the weight means getting healthier and reducing the intake of medication than this will be a much welcomed experience. I have struggled with weight all my life and thought I had everything under control but as you can see it was just a matter of time. I am hoping for a positive outcome from being approved all the way to the actual results of the lap-band surgery. I wish everyone luck and I have put a new group of people in my prayers.
