Stage 3/week 3 post op diet

U all must have diff instructions than I bc I am not steering away from my instructions. You do realize as well different doctors and hospital programs are slightly different. Actually had my first follow up today with PA and I'm doing great according to her. I only eat a few bites each meal chew thoroughly and I'm full. Not drinking 30 min b4 or after either. My only issue thus far is going to the bathroom 🚽. Not pleasant.
  3. So my packet states everything should be pureed but i've talked to others and as long as everything moist and chewed thoroughly I should muster through this stage. I've cooked 90% lean gr beef in unsalted beef broth first, mostly drained then added sloppy joe sauce which is not that awful in the calorie/sodium intake. Believe it or not low fat cottage cheese has more sodium. I also made canned chicken salad (in its own water) and mixed with health heart brand low fat mayo. Beef and the canned chicken were in packet. My new stomach aka STAN (yes i've named him) tolerated the beef but i could only eat a few small spoonfuls and as instructed chewed the hell out of it before swallowing--very difficult to get used to but necessary. Also, no drinking during, 30 min b4 or after. Truly I felt full/pressure after what I ate and wanted no part of drinking. Also if you don't pour a drink for meal, its not there - no temptation. Things are moist no need to wash down. My friend also suggested cooking chicken in low fat/sodium cream of chicken soup. I thought this was a great idea . Any one else have recipies or ideas for week 3???? please share

    Poop

I'm so glad you posted this, i was about to. Having terrible difficulty "going" and it feels like an event when i do have to go because its like a 30 min process and not a pleasant one. My 2 week post op is tomorrow and i'll be definitely asking dr or pa for some assistance/guidance. I know i have to go, its just not a simple process

    Sipping?

on week 3 post op, sipping isnt that awful, you don't want to stretch sleeve and honestly its still healing. You will feel pressure if you drink or eat too much too soon. Your body will tell you

    Food tolerance

So my surgery was July 16th, i'm on week 2. According to my "packet" of dietary dos and donts it lists things you can eat/work your way up to each week. But yesterday I pushed up the week a day and had very liquidy cream of potato soup - no potato chunks, i took my kids to applebees and had their cream soup. i ate half, ate the other half 2-3 hours later. while this wasnt the healthiest option, i tolerated it. Today, i ate won ton soup broth and chewed the hell out of the noodle it was basically massacred lol. I tolerated that as well. Then at dinner time i had a few spoonfuls of mashed potatos (which according to the rules, isnt until week 3). So while i may be pushing it, am I harming anything???? I've read a gastric sleeve cookbook from amazon that actually lists some pretty odd choices for food for week 2 post op that isnt necessarily listed in my packet received from surgeon/nutritionist. I pretty much stick to what is on list but add a little and maybe off the timeline listed. I'm wondering should I do this? not do this? Ive had no adverse affects, i have not felt sick, i started to get the burps a little and a little tightness but thats when i stop and figure i'm done/full. Thoughts or experiences?

In hospital bed, i actually slept on both sides oddly enough with a pillow and when i got home I've been nothing but sleeping on sides, its the only way I can sleep.

    Food tolerance

So far no intolerance to anything but I think i'm going to heed everyones advice and comments and stick to diet plan. Difficult to remember to drink my 2 protein shakes a day as well being as you're not really hungry. FYI pure protein - vanilla & chocolate are DA BOMB and started low fat vanilla greek yogurt today it was absolutely delicious and super cheap from walmart - I got the walmart (great value) brand it was fantastic

    Figuring out Vitamins

i bought calcium citrate wafers (they look like big round certs but melt in mouth). They are citrus like and chalky taste wise and a tiny bit tart so its kinda like eating a candy lol. Based on the schedule in my doctors packet - the suggest taking the calcium 3x a day = breakfast/lunch/dinner --- obviously we don't eat a full meal so i just calculate it time of day wise when that would be . Then the multivitamin (i have flintstones complete chewable) you take at bedtime. Seems like an easy way to remember to me so i'm going with it.
  14. Hello everyone, I'm new here. Had surgery last Monday 7/16. So this is day 6... i noticed yesterday and today--i feel extremely exhausted, like i could lay in bed most of the day. Is this normal?

    This is so hard

I feel for you, stay positive. Know there is much support for you!!!!! Some ppl think this is the easy way to lose weight/get fit whatever you want to call it. Its far from easy so they are wrong and don't understand. You have to push the fluids to stay hydrated. You don't want the jitters etc. With that said, i am on day 6 post op and feel good so I can't say I understand what you're going through but I feel for ya!!!!! With anything in life, sometimes it has to get harder before things get easier.

Just had my surgery on July 16th 2018

my day 8-14 post diet list includes everything we can have now...broth, sugar free drinks etc and one protein shake a day--- day 8-14 list says you can add gradually watery oatmeal, low fat, low sugar/sodium cottage cheese, cream of wheat. strained cream soups-low sodiumbaby rice cereal and low sugar pudding. doesnt it sound appealing? yum

Just had my surgery on July 16th 2018

feeling super exhausted although today i don't feel as tired as last two days....but boy could I stay in bed late, lol. I think i feel a little better each day. I stopped taking the tylenol w/ codeine my surgeon prescribed for pain, it was so nasty going down and I only used it to sleep, so I'm 2 days off that. I drove yesterday for the first time, felt good to get out. Tomorrow is my day 7 post diet, and i'm thinking of bumping up next diet phase by one day....what the heck right? IDK yet. Sleeping and rolling over on occasion i feel a tightness, but nothing more.

  22. My surgery was just last Monday 7/16. What I did was take off week before surgery, get affairs in order, etc bills, cleaning, food (liquid) shopping lol. I also did day trips to pool, beach etc because after surgery and it being summer, I know you cannot go to the pool etc just yet until cleared by physician. So for surgery, my surgeon approves up to two weeks off work which would be 10 sick days for me, so in total- 3 weeks. I do also have fridays off in the summer so when I do return to work, I will have 3 weeks left of 3 day weekends.
