I Survived Eating On A Two Week Cruise
soccrmom23 replied to GradyCat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too went on a cruise about a month ago. Obviously food is a big time plus for cruisers. Breakfast was easy i made sure i had scrambled eggs and a small portion of meat, one strip of bacon or sausage. No bread. Lunch and dinner I had smaller portions but ate what I wanted including dessert. Its vacation. What made the difference for me was not taking the elevator unless I had to. I took the stairs everywhere to work those bad choices off. I gained no weight on my cruise and even had a few drinks. -
HW was 265.... 8 months post op i'm currently 175....teetering in the 170s for about 1-2 weeks now need to get over the hump. My problem-i'm a snacker. I don't choose awful things to snack on but I find myself shoving stuff in not necessarily because I'm hungry. I do switch up my diet instead of the same old meals and i've re-introduced protein shakes as an alternative. I do go to the gym 3-4 times a week but also have bathroom issues if anyone whose had sleeve is aware what i'm referring to. One of the unpleasant side effects. I have not gained fortunately but i'm ready to get over the hump.

I have hit the one hundreds at 196!!!! woohoo.... day of surgery was 248.. so i'm slow and steady. Lots of hanging skin ugh need to tone and get to gym more...swam on wednesday that was nice. Since the start of first initial appt w/ surgeon i am down 70 lbs. I just feel so much better and energized and while my life is super busy, i try to walk at work as much as possible which is easy for me in my job. Similarly to others my hair is a huge issue. Its so straw like and brittle and falls out non stop UGH!!!!! Wish everyone a great success story never stop pushing yourself must do more of than and have self control as i do treat myself on occasion I hear thats ok. Just cant over do it

40 something sleevers?
soccrmom23 replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
45 here...got sleeved in July -- down 64 since I started this whole process... doing well. Feeling great! Looking forward to more success... trying not to buy a whole new wardrobe but its hard when everything is super baggy. -
Congrats to everyones successes....keep up the great work!!! I was sleeved 7/16.... when i started process in April I was 265. Last few days i'm stuck at 201 and just dying to be under 200 for the first time in I can't remember. Didnt feel well last week - so goal this week is to really hit the gym in addition to walking as much as possible during the day (I am blessed to work in a super large building that allows me to get those steps in!).

July 16th here.... down 40 since surgery day.... I feel like it has been slow and steady. Sometimes I stay at the same weight for a few days then after that I go down about 2 lbs here and there. I eat pretty much whatever I want yet being smart with food choices, obviously protein is most important. I also make sure I walk alot each day and/or go to the gym. I think 2 months out, almost 3 at 40 lbs down since surgery i'm satisfied that I will continue my journey and reach my goal

July 16 surgery.... down 40 since surgery. Is that too little? healthy amount? I feel like I see other ppl numbers and its not enough but then I think I don't want to lose too quick...I want to be able to keep this off and i'm not going to starve myself either. I'm able to eat most things. I even make sure I walk atleast 3 miles a day and go to gym twice a week. My butt hurts to sit on because that extra padding is not there and i'm starting to see the flab and sag on me-ick. I also see myself as looking older on occasion. Fat is a natural filler so now my face is thinned out- i feel like I look older. Like many my clothes and scale tell the story but I don't see it. I still see flab. Body image issues I believe are common.... stay positive everyone. You can do this...slowly but surely

Does anyone else have difficulty remembering to take their vitamins on a daily basis? I'm a complete bonehead......some days I take none. I think I've figured out I need to put all my calcium supplements in a snack baggie as if I'm going to snack on them all day long....lol. Its the only way I can remember.

Does anyone know how to update your current weight on here??? Are you meant NOT to after your initial stats? I'm not talking like every day but its been weeks since I've been on here and i'm down about another 15 lbs.....

Completely agree. I am single and I know i've been turned away for being overweight but then I also know I have criteria I look for in a man as well....baldness was a no but as I get older I think its about the person, but there does have to be something whether it be on the inside or outside of that person I am completely attracted to. I'm not even sure, once I'm done losing weight that I'll be attractive inside or out.... and not sure if I want to put myself out there, if it happens it happens.

40 something sleevers?

I am 45.... divorced with 2 adult kids (college kids), had done in July and its been awesome. I had no hesitation having it done. Really only thought about doing it in March of this year and began the process in April. I truly didnt know it was an option with insurance until learning about it. Once that initial appt. I had all preop tests done within a month and surgery was 7/16. I am down 44 lbs since April, 27 since surgery day. I have so much more energy and I can breath without huffing and puffing!!!! I fit better in clothes and its amazing to see gradual transformation. -
I weigh in everyday... i'm a little neurotic about it, I probably shouldnt but I do.... I do it every morning as they say first thing in the am is always your lowest.

I'm about to start week 8 (i think--lol July 16th was my surgery) and I eat pretty much anything I want.... in a healthy manner of course. Lots of eggs & eggwhites for breakfast....ALOT of grilled chicken for lunch and dinner. Sometimes cooked vegies on the side. I just started cereal with non fat milk and added a little blueberries. I've had grapes and blueberries, unsweet applesauce and fruitcups with no added sugar... I've had low sugar oatmeal ... just bough turkey bacon and turkey sausage. I've only had one instance where I felt I was going to get sick, I don't over do it...all portion control and watching labels on the food I'm buying to make sure sugar and sodium is low. I drink alot of unsweet tea with lemon and add no cal sweetener or crystal light. I find I waste alot of food so to cook a meal is an event. Try not to eat out but I do not deprive myself and choose wisely on menu and find things that I can make 2-3 meals out of. Its very entertaining eating out because you say alot of hold this, I don't want that etc. For instance--- several of my fave go tos are eggwhite vegie wrap from dunkin donuts-160 cal and its perfectly portioned. Had a grilled chicken gyro from local diner--- i literally say no pita just put contents on the plate---its grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, onion with the sauce on. We get no drinks since we cant eat and drink at same time (get lots of looks from waitresses for this) and if it came with fries, its no thank you or i give them to my kids. Lasts me 2 meals I don't use butter... bought some heart healthy olive oil stuff and some sprinkle stuff that supposed to taste like butter both of which I don't even use very rarely. Protein shakes I may still have one to get protein in maybe twice a week. All my portions are small 1/4 cup on average and when I eat with coworkersthey laugh bc they blink and I'm finished my meal. I'm very fortunate to be able to eat how I do, I know some have difficulty.

Everything i eat goes to my chest!
soccrmom23 replied to illcusoon101003's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
6 days post op I was still on liquids and protein shakes on day 3. sip slow.... never had the chest pain, but i know my dr packet said if you do get chest pain stop---but if it happens every time, I would definitely call your physician/bariatric office -
You don't have to divulge anything to anyone if you don't feel like it only those who need to know. PPl at my job i only discuss with those I care to know, any others can mind their own business. One coworker even saw that i lost 30 lbs already and our work gets a gym discount so I signed up and she offered to pay for a few sessions with a personal trainer........ thats the caring kind. Other than that, you do you!!!!! and you'll be fine.

On to Purees, suggestions?
soccrmom23 replied to Rileyjay1821's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like baby rice cereal everyone says ew. Not the premade in jar but the flakes u mix w water or no fat milk. Ppl think I'm strange lol. I've done canned chicken salad in water..... mixed with heart healthy mayo. 90% lean ground beef cooked in beef broth then added sloppy joe mix which only has 35 cal per serving. Scrambled eggs with salsa. All were tolerated and instead of purée I was instructed to chew the hell out of things which I do.... mind you, can only eat about 3 small spoonfuls and I'm full. Going to have soup for dinner :). No sugar pudding is glorious as a snack. Someone on another thread mentioned egg salad.... obviously with the light mayo.... must try!!! Stage 4 in 5 more days yayyyy -
My first consult was April 10th..... I had all my appointments done by mid may. All results submitted to insurance and a week later I got my surgery date of July 16 which was perfect timing since I work in a high school. So it was quick I thought
-
Scrambled eggs every day for breakfast.... one batch of eggs lasts all week. This morning I added mild salsa and it was glorious even thought it was 3-4 spoonfuls
-
Egg salad sounds fabulous
-
I can only eat 3-4 bites also they are chewed thoroughly to break it all down. Mashed potatoes were on my list seems like it varies from dr to dr
