Sorry to hear about it nonetheless hopefully recovery is going well now that you’re out of the recovery area. My heart rate was higher also and they didn’t come tell my bf I was out of surgery and being moved to a room for almost 3 hours after I’d left To go into surgery so he was sure there was something wrong since the surgeon said it was typically an hour and a half long on average.

Today was a MUCH better day than the past days. I've had a couple bowl movements, and most times I can walk around without the walker's aid (I needed it from the pain I'd had). Still pain, and still struggling with liquids and protein but I'm trying. How are you doing?

Hi. Chell - it’s an off and on thing. If I go too long without pain meds and having walked more than I can handle I go into terrible pain but nothing like I was when I had to go back to the hospital. They think I’ll be discharged again tomorrow as long as pain is under control with this Vicodin instead of the norco they gave me before. I only passed a stool once but I’ve had gas a little since then when I’d go to the bathroom so it’s more progress than before. They said it was ileus or however you spell it - when you get backed up because your intestines stay asleep longer than intended so when I’d eat or drink fluids it kept compressing on my stomach and expanding and not moving anywhere. Has me terrified of it happening again but I think gas happening is a good sign. Thanks for asking how r things on your end ?

Thank you Marisol - and congratulations on your upcoming surgery as well. I do feel about 30% better since I was able to pass a bowl movement but still very sore and scared that my bowels will stop again (words can’t even explain the pain from that). I’m hoping it happens again soon as like a reassurance it’s all still working right after the suppository though everyone says it should be and I just don’t have food in there right now. I’m trying to work on some yogurt right now but I get so full after like a couple bites.

Thank you everyone - so far the x rays and ct scans showed no leaks and that my bowels were still basically like in a coma they said - I got a suppository and two hours later finally got to go #2. Except now when I leave the bathroom by the time I walk back to my hospital bed I gotta run back and go some more . I still hurt like hell... but I’m hoping this is a start in the right direction.

Thank you guys - it means a lot to me to have you & others’ support through this. The main theory going around is that my bowels “fell asleep” and aren’t waking up I guess, so sometime later today the surgeons team is gonna review my scans and figure out where to go from there I guess.

I’m really struggling guys had my surgery Friday at 7:30am and things went well at first. Pain wasn’t too bad and by Sat I was able to keep down some water and a 6oz bowl of broth and a protein shake before they released me. a few hours later I went to the closest ER (my surgeons hospital was almost an hour away) because of extreme unbearable pain in my stomach and lower back beyond what trying to walk around and take gas relief medicines would help. And I still had a suture that kept bleeding a little and oozing but the whole suture wasn’t split so they weren’t too worried. The ER by my house did nothing and sent me home. Few more hours later (now Sunday midday) the pain traveled through the whole middle of my back, I couldn’t stand up straight without being in excruciating pain, couldn’t breathe without the same, and had zero relief from anything whatsoever. I took an Uber to my surgeons hospital ASAP. Here so far they’ve done an X-ray and a c t scan and are keeping me back on pain meds but those are starting to not be as effective slowly and the pain is easily a 10+ unbearable. They did admit me again and said I shouldn’t have been discharged in so much pain but this amount of pain wasn’t there at the time so I don’t know. Im not going to rush anything I’m just going to stay as long as they allow me / as long as I need to. If there’s something going wrong then I hope they find out and fix it. IF this is all just an adverse terrible reaction to not passing bowl then please god keep me until I do. I don’t wanna come off as complaining - I just don’t want to feel alone right now I have a few of you I’ve connected with and message and I appreciate each and every one if you on this forum as we’re all sisters and brothers in a way many aren’t and it means the world to me. I’m just struggling has anyone else had similar situations and what was the outcome or resolution ?

Today I was discharged around 6pm est but ended up at the ER middle of the night due to excruciating pain. This is the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life al this hospital did was condemn nothing is blocked enough and changed a bandage of mine that was leaking through as one of my sutures at the hospital stert d bleeding from a.l crack inside of its I’m praying it feels better soon. I try to walk but it hurts so bad. Pains radiating to my back now too which sucks :/

Random post op question. I don’t have sleep apnea and I just had my surgery Friday morning at 7:30am. It’s now Saturday morning and I’m trying to fall asleep (I’m SO tired), and every time I doze off for a moment I wake up to a somewhat deep breath and it wakes me up. It’s driving me nuts 😕 anyone else experience this ?

Thank you definitely trying to so I can get back home to him ASAP. Gas pain isn’t *as* bad as it was yesterday but it’s still pretty bad for me right now. Add that to not being able to sleep and this hospital bed being the most uncomfortable bed on the planet and it’s a cocktail for no fun lol. I hope today goes well so I can just go home. Depends on my walking later today and water / fluid intake i guess.

Thank you Ellie - I don’t even remember going under which was kinda funny. I remember going into the operating room and commenting that it reminds me of on television. Then they fixed the mesh hair cap thing on my head and nothing after that. Pain afterwards is horrible though I walked to the bathroom but couldn’t wipe which was embarrassing but the nurse helped me out. Hoping for this to pass sooner rather than later lol

Hi Chris - thank you hun I appreciate it. Surgery went well, I’m in recovery now. Shared room which sucks lol. The pain is not fun... they need to give me something other then morphine. (Morphine has never really did much for me anyhow). Hoping this subsides soon though

Got my time for surgery just now! Tomorrow at 6am I need to be at the hospital, surgery is scheduled for 7:30am!!

As far as nausea goes, I had it maybe the first day of my liquid diet or so but that's about it. Except today...I did a bad thing and took the smallest taste of my son's eggs i made this morning for him (like, not even a fork full..my first legit cheat, but it was hardly any consumption, I just missed taste other than liquid lol) and it tasted like crap (weirdly enough), and now i feel nauseous.

Do you find it's more comfortable laying down in a bed or sitting in a recliner? My surgery is Friday ...so I'm curious where I might find myself sleeping when I come home lol.

Finally got someone to watch my son while my boyfriend stays at the hospital. Thank goodness!!

Ran into some crap news today and I just wanted to vent/share with you guys because I had no one else to really talk to. Surgery is on Friday and they said I need a responsible adult there until surgery is done so the surgeon has someone to talk to afterwards and answer questions or something like that. I have a 12 year old autistic son who is afraid of hospitals because his father died slightly less than a year ago in a hospital and he's still traumatized from it, specifically from hospitals. My boyfriend was going to stay home to watch my son, but now we have nobody to take me and stay at the hospital. I've asked all of my available friends, I don't really have family but I asked the one family member I speak to and she's working, and everyone on the boyfriend's side is busy. I honestly don't want to give up on this journey because my only option is to bring both the BF and son and, in the process, traumatize my son... I don't really know what to do. I'm trying and praying for someone to step through and say they can help on both my bf and my end..but it isn't looking good. And they don't call until the day before surgery with a specific time, so that kinda hinders anyone from committing to helping. so hard to be excited now.
