  1. Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place. I am lost at sea without oars. I am a binge eater or food addict. I was desperate and five years ago I got the sleeve. At first it helped and the binge eating stopped but as time went on I changed my food addiction and binges into graze binges on smaller amounts. Slowly the weight came back and I stopped following any rules. I even went back and tried conventional weight loss diets like Jenny Craig and Lite and easy. I kept mini bingeing for days then back on diets just like the old days but the binges are smaller. I drink Pepsi max everyday and am addicted to sugar. It's almost like I never had the sleeve done at all and I am so disgusted and ashamed with myself. My head followed me after the surgery and I am scared I have completely blown it. I have started the 5 day pouch test (on New years Day how cliché) and have all my food ready for this but I am actually struggling to remember what it is I am meant to be eating as a post op sleever years out? I have a couple of questions. What are the general guidelines for sleevers regarding food types, frequency and amounts and liquid dos and don't s. Things to avoid? ( I can eat almost a normal meal now) What's a normal sleevers meal? Is there a support group on here for compulsive over eaters, binge eaters or food addicts? Thanks and Happy New Year. Too Cheeky (still)
  2. It's ok Penman I know what your saying has truth it's just that I already know it and can't change it now so I felt judged. We are all human and I was desperate for an answer. I am on day three of the Pouch test and while I know its not a long term answer it is helping me feel like I can get back on track. The headaches are severe which tells me I am detoxing from sugar. I have read the replies and don't feel quite so alone, thanks everyone. I was hoping there would be a thread or support group for binge eaters Graciela and I would like to participate in one if it is created. I am also going to get help. I do have past trauma that I think is partially a catalyst for the eating disorder. Its something I don't want to face but I guess its time to make a choice about the way I am living my life. Thanks again for the kind supportive words.
  3. Thanks almost everyone (not penman 53) I am in Western Australia. When I had the sleeve I did not have a Psyche assessment and there weren't any support groups. Thank you everyone else for the supportive comments. I have some hope today that I can get back on track whereas yesterday I felt so lost. I never did reach my goal weight I lost about 40 pounds.
  4. Hi I did an intro in the main section and then saw that there is a section for ozzies as well! Great! I am not banded yet but have my first appointment with a surgeon soon. I am a public patient so not really sure what to expect. I hope I meet the criteria to go on the waiting list can anyone advise me what to say and what not to say? LOL :rolleyes2: Other than that can anyone please share with me what you go through from 1st appointment to 1st fill? What physical things are involved and which other specialists do you see ect? I would really appreciate hearing this from ozzies as the procedure will be similar nationwide I assume? Cinni.

    Hello and newbie advice?

Thank you Danna for demystifying the process for me. I feel a little less nervous knowing sort of what to expect. :tongue2: I have been doing a lot of thinking and reading and I think I am coming to a decision that the band could really help me. It will be great to go in to the appointment fully informed and confident with my decision. I will have to change my signiture soon to all systems go, the next challenge will be getting a date. :w00t:
  11. Hello this is my first post so hello to all who may read this. I figured I would start here and introduce myself. I am Cinni and I have my first appointment with a surgeon in two weeks time to see if I can get myself on the public list here in Australia. I have been considering a Lap band for a while now but always told myself it was far to drastic and that if I was going to go to those lenghts then surely I could just stick to a damn diet.:thumbup::frown::eek: Well I am now between a rock and a hard place (I feel) as diets just don't work for me. :confused3::frown::incazzato: I feel I am now faced on one hand surgery which I am petrified of and on the other hand life shortening illnesses. My health is ok now but I can see it is slipping away and problems are rearing their ugly head due to obesity. I googled this forum and hope to become fully informed before I see the surgeon and decide to have the lap band. If I get on the public waiting list it could be a year before it gets done so at least I can do some research and grow some courage. Cinni
  12. Thank you so much for the welcome. Yesterday I spent a few hours reading posts and info about banding. I dare say a little spark of hope may even be glimmering after years of struggling, failing and feeling it was all hopeless. I will keep up the research and look forward to reading and posting more. :tongue_smilie:
