Gallbladder Warriors! Sound familiar?
Bob R replied to Screwballski's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Anytime you lose a large amount of weight in a short period of time you stand a chance of getting gallstones. i lost eighty pounds in four months and I started to get unbelievable chest pains that would not stop but it was when I started getting nausea pretty bad that I went to the E/R, long story short xray found 10 stones in my gall bladder. The operation started out laparoscopic but had to be converted to open when he found my gall bladder chronic and necrotic. -

Has anyone had a lap band over sleeve surgery?
Bob R replied to wannawearabikini's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i had the band in 07 but a year later my band slipped due to forceful vomiting so I had it removed and converted it to the sleeve and all these years later I regained my weight back. I now am scheduled for RNY surgery May 3rd. I have never heard of anyone going back to the band after the sleeve but do a lot of research so you can make a informed and comfortable decision that you can live with. Good luck! -
wearing my mask actually helps me fall asleep but at some point after losing a considerable amount of weight I will not need it anymore but since it helps me sleep I may have a problem giving it up. ☹️

Anyone have their gallbladder removed after their surgery?
Bob R replied to avm1014's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You can possibly lose your gall bladder anytime you lose a large amount of weight in a short period of time. I lost mine years ago after I lost 80 lbs on the Atkins diet and xrays revealed I had 10 gall stones so it had to go. -
How long is the RNY surgery, typically?
Bob R replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I was told by my surgeon to expect a 4 hr surgery because its a revision and it takes a long time to separate the stomach from the liver. -
pumping the stomach with air is a way to check for possible leaks prior to closing.

my surgery is may 3rd and I can't wait. my Dr calls it my trifecta 😊

Has anyone taken nyquil postop? Have you had any ill effects from this? I take this on occasion to help me sleep but with my surgery coming up in may I was wondering if I will have to avoid this. Sent from my SM-G900T using BariatricPal mobile app

If you go through tricare then you will be following tricare rules which are more restrictive than going through a military hospital I am also 45 minutes away ( Walter Reed) but I would suggest going through a military Dr and he or she will tell you your options. Good luck.........Bob Sent from my SM-G900T using BariatricPal mobile app

Well, I finally had my endoscopy today and although I was in a light sleep I clearly remember gagging through the whole procedure. oh well its finally done and everything looked good and the dr said I am a good candidate for my surgery so its all downhill from here. Thanks for everyone's input.......Bob

Has anybody had a endoscopy that they can share how the experience went? I am having this procedure done in a couple of weeks and I need to be up and ready to leave in about an hour after the procedure is done to get to another appointment within the hospital. Thanks........Bob
