Dr. Richard Collier - Checking on everyone??
Sarah8714 replied to Sarah8714's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am doing okay. Only down 13 lbs but since my pre-op appt. I went out to eat tonight - kobe. I only ate so little compared to what I use to. I still feel like I ate to much though. I am scared of gaining. I have to go to Outback tomorrow for my nephew's graduation too. Eating out is tough!! -
Good Luck everything will go great!!!

Do you make more of an effort to look nicer now?

I am still doing my usual thing but still not up to doing the eye shadow deal. Love that the clothes are fitting more loosely. -
Very negative comment from fill doctor.

Another Houston area person here. Was wondering if you checked on going to a different doctor? I would not personally spend that amount of cash on a patient then to have him act that way. You have done great already -
Another Houston area person!!! Yeah  Who is your surgeon? I was told to do the slimfast Low Carb drinks. They are $5.50 area for a 4 pack at Walmart. I would cut out all carbonated drinks now!!! On my pre-op diet I did 3 amaze-rx shakes. For breakfast you got one serving of two of the following - toast, egg, oatmeal, yogurt. Dinner was 1 serving of lean meat and 2 servings of green veggie - beans, brocolli, lettuce, peas. There are several good support groups in the area... PM anytime!!

My Stomach Itches!!!
Sarah8714 replied to Boxeremma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto for me!! It is the adhesive from the bigger bandages over the steri-strips. I called my doctor and he said to have the 4 laprascopic area steri's stay on for a week and the longer one to keep on as long as possible. I used baby oil on a cotton ball to get all excess adhesive off. Good luck!! -
I am in the Houston area and self-pay. I paid $13,500 with free fills for life and free nutrition and personal training for 1 year.

Question for CNA's/RN's
Sarah8714 replied to AppleBottom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 5/15 and went back to work on 5/20 with 15lb lift restriction. I work in a very busy dept (ER) and wish I had time to take off 2 weeks. I am wiped out after a 12 hour shift, also it is hard to ALWAYS ask someone for assistance on the simplest of things like reposition a pt in bed. If you have the time take 2 weeks!!! -
I was having the same trouble too. I called the doctor and they said it was from eating too fast or fluids too cold. Says it is spasms around the band? Was told to SLOW down on eating and drinking....

Returning to Work
Sarah8714 replied to greekdiva118's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 15th and went back to work on Tuesday. Wished that I would have taken more days off but tonight has not been as bad other than I am having trouble with the 15lb weight lift restriction. :blushing: -
I totally agree... How fashionable is it when you cant get in and out of your clothes without an instruction manual. I wear scrubs to work

Going CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!
Sarah8714 replied to holly11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I could have sent this post myself today. I am craving flavor and to actually chew food. I went to the doctor on Monday for more protein powder and a work release and the nurse said that if I wasn't getting satisfied with soups is to make some instant mash potatoes. It took me 3 days to eat 1 pouch of mash potatoes. I added some homemade salsa on top tonight. It is definetly different feelings than any other diets I have been on. Usually I am famished and want quantity. I do have trouble with coping reflex of wanting to stuff my face when being upset!! -
My nightmare hospital experience this weekend
Sarah8714 replied to 80s_chick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would put a complaint into the Texas board of medical examiners. No patient should be treated that way. I would write a letter to the Hospital board and (cc) several other big wigs there. Even if they thought you were pain seeking your lab work met criteria for you to be admitted, right? Good Luck. PM if you have any questions. -
I was wondering if anyone has where it says how much liquids to consume? I am on my full liquid diet which is 3 - 6oz protein shakes and 3 other meals which can be sugar free pudding, 1 serving soup, sugar free instant breakfast. I barely can meet the minimum requirements of that. Any words of wisdom? My sheet just says to take small sips 30 min before or after meals.

Congrats! How are you doing today?

I just called in my prescription for a refill of my Lortab elixir! I cant believe the pain is so bad. It is more pain than gas. The 1st day was terrible, I thought it was awful. Friday was a little better but still very sore plus I was in a car wreck on Monday and still sore from that. My 21month old wants me to pick him up and play which is hard not to do. Luckily, DH is very supportive and attentive to him. I just had my 1st full liquid! I wanted my protein shake.... I love them :woot: I am scheduled to go back to work on Tuesday?? I dont know about that one... I get to do dressing care today and take a shower! Simple joys

Journeylite offers a self pay program for $13,500 right now which includes 1 year followup care with monthly appts with him, access to a licensed nutrionist, counselor, and trainer free. Plus Lifetime fills are FREE at Journeylite. My sister and mother live off of Louetta, so I am in your area all the time. What pre-op tests do you have to do?

Checking in.... Had surgery thursday 5/15
Sarah8714 replied to Sarah8714's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the replies. I actually went out for a few hours yesterday to DH company picnic. It wasnt so hard not to eat but standing around and not picking up Andy was the hardest. Today he wants to venture out to Toys R Us for a baby pool. Had a lot of gas last night too. Still no BM since the bowel prep for surgery, is that common?? -
I hope your seminar went well today. Dr. Spivak is very highly regarded. If Journeylite did not have such a good offer and I like Dr. Collier, he would have been my next choice. Where in Houston are you?

I was banded on the 15th. I am very sore on the left side. Near the portacath site. My neck hurts from all the improper getting out of bed. I have been taking the Lortab elixir around the clock but the gas-x strips seem to be helping. I have that heaviness/fullness feeling in my chest after eating a few bits of sugar free jello or broth. I hope this improves.
