IMHO The hardest part of being banded.

I am a SUPER FAST eater. I get the "lapburn" all the time. I am always working on doing the chew, chew chew..... -
I always order water now. It is too hard to explain why I don't order anything liquid. I thought of splitting the meal but we dont like the same thing. I do share with my son and the last time I ordered a full meal I asked for a box at the same time and put 1/2 to 3/4 in it when the meal came out.

I am so glad that things are going well. Did you try Benadryl for the itching? of course I would ask your doctor but it could be just inflammation from wearing the binder. I would ask at the appt. today. So happy for you!!!

I have thought of this alot and was one of my 1st questions asked at the initial seminar. I was HIGHLY advised not to mess with the port or band. He said that it could be really bad trying to self adjust it and can harm the integrity of the band.

What is the rudest thing someone has said to you?!?!

Interesting topic to post.... Here are a couple of mine through the years.... In high school, I remember being told that I had such a pretty face from my PCP that I should loose some weight I was a size 12. In college, I had a guy tell me that if I would loose some weight that he would take me out and he was married . When I got pregnant with my son, one of my coworkers was concerned over every bit of food I was eating. She said that I guess i shouldnt be too concerned because she took care of a 700lb lady who ended up having a healthy child. When I worked as a paramedic, I was talking to a lady during transport who it took 5 fireman to get her out of the house and down her stairs and she looked at me and said "your not skinny either". Another one said to me when I was questioning her about the rats eating at her toes and the roaches crawling out of her purse, she commented that at least "I am not fat like you are". -
Hope you are feeling better!!

Good luck on the fill today, Wendy!!! I had a great time at the Woodlands meet up. It was nice to meet more banders out there...

When I went to the doctor today he said that most people do not feel restriction until they are at 5.5cm or more. Good Luck!!! -

Congratulations!!! -
I work nights (7p-7a) 3 to 4 nights a week. I have found it challenging to get all the protein needed during my shift since I am usually so busy. All liquids was not as bad as I thought. I took my Magic Bullet with me since I liked my shakes from the doctor better than Slim fast. On liquids I would bring shake stuff with me, sf jello and pudding. I would also bring cup at hand Campbell's soup. I would eat every 3 hours. I am about to finish finish mushies and have added bringing refried beans, mushy chicken or tuna salad. I have trouble getting workouts in on work nights when I am on a stretch but try to talk walks on breaks. Good Luck!

I am a Starbucks Junkie!! I use to go every day and at my highest point I was having two venti iced drinks a day. I really like the Skinny latte's either hot or cold. My new craving is the Black Shaken Iced tea with sweet-n-low. I had 3 of them yesterday.....

So glad that it went well. Take it easy, let us know how the recovery is going!!

I know this may sound crazy but how do you log your food intake/calories if you dont work/live the normal 9-5 job. I am a RN and work nights (7p-7a) but try to keep a day schedule when I am not working due to family. I am up then sometimes over 24 hours several times a week. I asked my nutritionist about it but she didnt know what to do but to spread out my calories?? My options are - awake to when I go to sleep, 7a-7a, midnight to midnight.

hi Everyone!! How are things going?? Thank you Sherri for getting me back on the right track. I had some Soup, pudding and eggs yesterday. Today was a Protein shake, soup, and creamy tuna salad. I didnt get a chance to walk today and it is already 6am. When is the next meet up? I think I am free on Saturday the 7th.

I am sorry that you are having a hard time with your band. I am a newbie, but have you looked into seeing another doctor in the area? I go to Dr. Collier with Journeylite and he is wonderful!!!

How true!!

I was banded on the 15th and have been so HUNGRY lately too. I went for my post-op appt and was moved to mushies but had my 1st consult with the nutritionist next day and I got confused. I ate some starting out foods for 2-3 days and ate way less than I use to but still felt bad. Got back on the right track with mushies.

Thanks for the invite! I made a small goal this time. I will be out of town for 5 days in 2 weeks so I did not want to make it unmanagable.

Sarah8714 replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on the 15th and at my post-op appt on the 27th I have lost 13 lbs. I went on a mushy/soft food diet and have not lost any since. I have no restriction at all and started exercising much more than before. Cant wait for my 1st fill on 6/13!! -
My name is Sarah, I am married with 1 child who is almost 2 years old. I live in the Houston area. Recently banded on 5/15/08. Preop weight is 272 and goal is 160 to start. I am an emotional eater and tend to eat too fast which is a struggle right now with the band. I work nights as a Nurse and tend to not have enough time for myself and I do not get enough sleep. Looking for a buddy to learn from, lean on, and vent occasionally.
