  1. Our bodies like to stay fat... but the surgery will work. Give it time. I got frustrated at 2.5 weeks with my first stall, then dropped another 10, now i'm on my second stall at 5 weeks. I think my body is just adjusting. Overall, I'm still losing several pounds per week, it just doesn't happen in a straight line, and that is OK. Your body will kick into gear again!
  2. Ah, i'm Bypass so this might be part of the issue.

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

That's my plan! i'm already nagging the surgeons to get me scheduled. These plateaus are killing me though!
  4. Super interesting. My nurses told me they want me to crush pills forever, but honestly it makes me not want to take my pills. Those of you swallowing your pills, have you had blood levels checked? Are you absorbing what you need to from the pills?

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

Started at 422 lbs, managed to get down to about 365 with diet. Had my surgery one month ago and just hit 332 lbs. I don't get much exercised because I have a severely arthritic hip. I'm starting PT up again next week to help with that, i can get the hip replaced once I hit 295 lbs, so that's my first goal. Originally I was thinking it would be amazing to get down to 250-260, but now i'm setting my sights higher (lower?) to 225 lbs. I enjoy exercising, so I'm hoping that hip comes in and helps significantly. Thanks for the inspiration, guys!
  6. I had my surgery on 8/1/18. During the pre-surgery diet through the first 2 weeks post op, I was losing 1-1.5 lbs/day, which was awesome! But for the last week I've held steady at the same weight - 340lbs. I'm currently on pureed foods, so I've been trying to go back to more liquids, but I'm still stuck. A week isn't a long time, and I expected to hit plateaus, but I'm surprised I hit one 2 weeks post-op. Anyone else hit one so early? How long do they last? Trying not to get frustrated, but it is hard.
  7. Keep it up... just like everyone said it started to work again.
  8. Great thread, thanks everyone. I have terrible hip pain. I need a new hip, but need to lose about 40 more lbs before the doctors will operate. I have been trying ointment, but they don't seem to touch it. Since I'm 4 weeks post op, I haven't been able to do a lot of my exercises, so the pain is getting worse every day. Any Washington residents have brands/products that helped with pain for them? Ibuprofen used to help a lot, but I can't take that now. Ideally I'd get the anti-inflamatory without the "high", but I'll take a little high to get rid of the pain as well. I'd prefer not to smoke, so other deliver methods are preferred.

    Having the reversal

We believe in you! You can do it! Really hope this helps with the other issues.
  10. Just got back from a 5 day vacation and I'm down 4 lbs! Nice to see the scale moving again. Hopefully it will keep moving for a while. Thanks for the info and support!

    Alcohol?

Hi all: Went out with a group from work last night and was able to enjoy myself drinking my delicious, delicious ice water with lime. But I'll admit, I really wanted to order a manhattan. I've only ever been a 1-2 drinks a week kind of guy, but I really enjoy those 1-2 drinks. Have you started drinking? When did you start? How did it go? Anything to worry about? I was something of a margarita connoisseur, but I'm worried about the sugar content. I've heard you can drink, but you may feel the effects very quickly. What should I be thinking about here?
  12. True... and my scale has some variation. I usually weigh myself three times in the morning and take the weight that appeared twice. Yesterday I got a great number on my first try so I went with it Very possible I've just been consistent this whole time.
  13. I THOUGHT I had broken out of it yesterday with about a 3 lb weight drop, but somehow I gained 4 lbs so now I'm even higher! So basically I've been at 340-341 for over a week now. This is harsh after losing so steadily. As I was gaining weight, I lingered on 340 for a very long time. This may be one of those things where my body is comfortable at this weight and I just need to wait it out. I'm only consuming 600-800 calories a day, and at three weeks out I haven't been cleared for vigorous exercise yet. (I could do more walking). It was very frustrating to see that scale go back up after I thought I had broken through. We'll see what tomorrow brings!
  14. I was super successful pre-op as well. Went down 60 lbs, with ~20 of those being in the last two weeks. I don't have another follow up for 2.5 months, so hopefully I'll see a bigger difference then!
  15. Thanks... It's good to hear we aren't alone. (and I don't seem to be super great at searching older posts!) I just wish my stupid body would adjust faster!
  16. Thanks for posting this! I'm in the same boat, though I'm just two weeks post-op. I'd been losing steadily, but have stalled for a few days, then actually gained. I expected this to happen at some point, just not so soon! All your advice makes a ton of sense. It's still frustrating to see, but good to know we are not alone!
  17. I've been successful losing weight so far, but I'm starting to get a vertical line up my stomach where my skin squeezes together when I bend over. It hurts! Have others experienced this? Does it get better? I've got a binder thing, but that doesn't seem to help this skin fold. #gross #weirdquestions

    Vitamins schedule

That does make sense to me. I've never been a fan of gummies anyway, but it's hard while I can't take actual pills! They taste far nastier than I expected ground up. But this, like all things, is temporary.

    Vitamins schedule

What about Gummy Calcium? I've heard some doctors don't believe in it, others do. What's the consensus here? (Faster than a speeding Meme, More powerful than a celebrity tweet)

    Vitamins schedule

I'm having trouble getting past "Ox Bile"! That's quite the assortment. I'm just a couple days post op, mixing my Bariatric multis into my breakfast and I haven't really gotten on board with the calcium yet. Will be way easier as my tummy heals.

Your Feet & Shoe Size ?

Fascinating. My feet and ankles appear a lot thinner/narrower just from the pre-op diet. I'm now 4 days post. If I can stop wearing a wide shoe the style options will open way up. Super excited about that. Thanks for the info.
  22. Hi all: I'm 4 days post-op and the incisions are bothering me more than I'd anticipated, as I think I have a pretty high pain tolerance. The one incision which was closest to the surgeon (where I'm assuming she did most of the poking and proding) is really bruised, swollen, and painful. The other incisions I barely notice. (except for the creepy one where the drain was inserted!) How long did it take for your pain to go away from Laparoscopic surgery? Am I near the end, or should I invest in an Abdominal Binder? Putting pressure on the spot seems to help, but I can't do that on my own all day. I'd rather not spend more money if I don't need to, but I'd also like to not hurt. I don't want to buy this and then the pain be gone by the time it is delivered. Any advice?

    The first poo

I had a bypass on Wednesday and had my first "poo" on Saturday. I don't know if it really qualifies. It was a lot of gas but then some liquid came out, a very small chunk of solid. It felt more like something that remained from my bowel prep than something my new body created, but it wasn't painful. Keeping my fingers cross my #2 #2 is as easy.
  24. 4 days post-op and it may be my imagination, but I swear my smell is better. My family was eating Cool Ranch Doritos in the other room and I could smell it I didn't really want any, but they did smell good.

How do you know if your full

Day 4 post op and liquids are going well. I've never really felt "full" in my life, so have nothing to compare it to. That's a bit of a lie, I did feel full when I was on Saxenda for weight loss. I definitely can't eat quickly, I thought it would be hard to only eat 2oz in 30 minutes, but I'm finding it takes me 45 min sometimes.
