I was banded March 2006. The worst complaint I have is left shoulder pain. It took around 3 months to finally subside but then I got my first fill. That same day my left shoulder pain returned. Has anyone else experienced this (shoulder pain with fills)? I don't want to get an unfill but I am questioning how long I can put up with the shoulder pain...sometimes it brings me to tears it hurts so bad.

This is the greatest thread! I thank Funny Duddies and Dianechef for posting their results. I have decided to give it a try too! The only day I see a problem with is Day 5...I'm not a tomato person. I think I'll have to substitute other veggies. I am getting so excited about this.

I have heard of this diet last fall, thought about doing it, and then like all my old diets...didn't do it! I have been losing very slow and was thinking about joining you on this one...but for some reason I'm chicken. I think I'll wait and see how it goes for the both of you first. Please update the thread with your progress...it is appreciated.

I have been trying to pay close attention to what triggers it. It seems to hurt worse in the morning and afternoon which is also when I feel the most restriction. I have noticed laying on my left side makes it go away or ease it at least. I don't think it has anything to do with gas pains, taking gas-x does nothing to relieve it. Also when I rub my shoulder it does feel better for a few minutes....very weird. The kicker is I told my Doctor about it and his response was..."It is not related to your surgery, you must of injured your shoulder doing something else." I sat there a minute dumbfounded because so many I've talked to complain of shoulder pain after banding. How could he not know that?

I am 3 1/2 weeks out and have just got the courage to push around my belly and see if I can find my port. I feel a circular object which I guess is my port. It is not where I expected to find it though. It is on my right side about 1 to 2 inches below my bra line. My largest incision is in the same area and is the source of most of my discomfort (which isn't that bad). From reading the LapBand book my Doctor gave me the picture of the port was on the left side and was further down. I am just curious if we all have our ports in different locations? I will surely ask my Doctor at my next visit.

Thanks for all the replies. I feel better knowing some of you have your port in the same area as me. PhotoNut, I think the reason I feel it more now is because of the way I sit at work. It will sure make me sit up straight because I hate the pressure that I feel when I'm not.

Hi Fat Crusader- I was banded March 20th and had the same stabbing pains when I walked in the middle of my chest. It was OK if I sat down but soon as I got up to walk it would start in again. The good news is it has went away, I guess it took about 11 days. So hang in there!

Hi Jababat- I was banded on March 20th and have my first post-op visit with the Doctor today too. I am excited! How long is everyone waiting before they start exercising? I feel like I'm up to starting slow but haven't yet, I guess because I'm scared I'll hurt something.

Hi Everybody- I have been doing OK. I have had alot of left shoulder pain which has taken my spirit down a bit. It hurts so bad I can hardly stand it! I have lost 12 lbs in the first 7 days but nothing the last 2 days...just maintaing the 12. I am surprised by how much I think I am feeling my band. It is a stinging feeling especially when I walk to fast. The rest of the time it just feels like a heavy feeling...like someone is pushing on my belly. I am still swollen and healing so maybe that has alot to do with it. Or will I always have that feeling? After I heal will I feel normal again? I certainly hope so!

Thanks Alexra! You sure look great! Losing so much in only 11 months is such a motivation for me. I appreciate your kind words...I am looking forward to the next few weeks being over and feeling 150% like you ) My shoulder pain seems to be going away (crossing my fingers) that it stays that way! I am just puzzled as to why I haven't been losing weight the last 3 days. I guess I thought I'd lose the whole time I was on just liquids. Oh well, I would rather feel myself agian first. The weight loss just made me feel like I was suffering for something (ha).

Hi Lori- I have been to Curves before and liked it alot. I am only 10 days post-op and couldn't do Curves if I wanted to. I keep waiting to wake up one day and actually feel normal again.

Craziest Things People Have Said Coming From Under General Anesthesia...

This question is funny! Once after having surgery, I remember waking up and screaming I couldn't breath! The Doctor was saying just take some deep breaths...I just remember being mad at him thinking "how can I take deep breaths when I can't breath" I know it doesn't make a lot of since but I was postive I couldn't breath (even though everything was fine). My daughter had her tonsils out and the knocked her out then put her IV in, braced it, and wrapped it up. When she woke up she was screaming "the dumb doctor didn't take my tonsils out he broke my arm instead...listen to me scream!" It was awful! She just made her throat hurt even more. -
Hi Sparkling- Monday is my day too! I can hardly believe it is almost here! I have not been very good on my pre-op diet, how are you doing? I got the flu around the 7th and it took me until really today to feel 100% again...and my appetite is finally back and I want to eat but I can't because of the liquid diet! Actually I've cheated almost every day! I think there is something wrong with me (ha). I am going to be dedicated starting today until Monday!

Hello! This thread is making me even more excited! I will be banded on March 20th at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio by Doctor Siddiqui. I have gotten all the requirements and approval out of the way and only have my pre-op tests to go! I am starting to get nervous...but I know it will be worth it in the long run! I have to do a 10 day pre-op liquid diet! I hope I can make it! Good Luck to everyone!

Hello everyone! I am finally going to be brave and actually post a message instead of just reading all of them. I am so glad I found this website. It has really helped me make the decision to have surgery. I have went to the seminar and had my first appointment. I do not know anyone that has had band surgery so all of your comments and thoughts are very helpful.
