  1. Water post op has a tendency to feel like lead hitting your tummy. Maybe try crystal light in your water. It strangely does change the texture of the water, can’t quite explain it, in any event, it makes it more manageable to drink. Good luck! I had the same experience with water. I also have to add crystal light pure (raspberry lemonade). It works for me. It is a mystery
  2. Has anyone had a problem with bad breath? I am 5 weeks out and have struggled with bad breath since surgery.i brush my teeth and a half hour later I get that dry yucky taste back in my mouth! I was initially told no hard candy, mints or cough drops as they can cause an obstruction if swallowed. Am I alone in this or has anyone found a solution?
  3. Just a side note, protein ice cream (world according to egg face recipe) made with silk protein nut milk, chocolate protein powder with PB2 added has 32 grams of protein. It’s yummy and worth my ice cream maker purchase! on top of that when I’m low on protein my hubby says “you better eat your ice cream”! I never in all my life thought that my husband would say these words to me. I nearly passed out the first time!!!!
  4. I too have had difficulty getting in enough protein and water in the purée stage. This is what my dietician told me to do.: Add cottage cheese to scrambled eggs while cooking add protein powder to soups stick to ground turkey and chicken at first for meats (more easily tolerable) Add cottage cheese to chili Add protein water to all regular water also I have added protein ice cream and use silk protein nut milk in the mix. (The world according to egg face recipe). as for the water, my Dr changed my wait times for drinking. It’s still tough
  5. I was having a lot of fatigue up until 3 weeks out when I saw the Dr and dietician for my follow up. They both agreed that it was due to insufficient protein consumption (and too few calories) and water intake. They told me to increase my protein grams up to 40-50+ grams a day and not to worry about the calorie level. I am now getting around 500 calories and 40 grams of protein. I feel like a new person!
  6. Isabella Journey- I had my RNY gastric bypass on 7/18/18! Nice to meet you twin.

    July Gastric Bypass?

The scrambled egg gave me a stomach ache at first. The deviled (I put less than 1 teaspoon low fat mayo, yellow mustard and lawry’s salt) did not bother me at all. I thought maybe the mayo helped. Next time I tried roasted chicken (dark meat). I was scared so I added the same ingredients to it before purée. I did well with that as well. I tried a scrambled with one wedge of laughing cow cheese. That went well. Then lastly I tried the ricotta cheese bake recipe from the blog the world according to egg face. That went well too. That’s all I tried so far. Also used the WatchMeEat app and a tiny spoon so I didn’t eat too fast

Scrambled egg and deviled eggs (low fat mayo)
  9. Say grace, have you seen the blog The world according to egg face? Just search for purée recipes. I am on purée and just tried her ricotta bake. It was amazing. I figured that her recipe makes 6 servings, 105 calories, 9.1 protein grams, carbs 3.6 grams. Just an idea. You may have to leave the mozzarella off if not allowed
  10. Amalicea, Plain water kind of upsets my stomach too. Someone recommended adding Crystal Light Pure drink mix (has stevia). I have no idea why but it has helped.
  11. I really felt I could drink more as well. I wasn’t paying attention to how often I was sipping and I really didn’t feel full.Needless to say I started coughing and threw it up. I’m much more cautious now 😊. Be careful

    July Gastric Bypass?

My surgical team (Dr and dietician) have told me to stay clear of nutra sweet. I asked why and they said that new studies are showing that our bodies react to it the same way that they react to sugar. Is anyone else being told the same thing? Lots of the bariatric recipes I have seen on line add sugar free jello or sugar free pudding. Unfortunately they have nutra sweet.

The scale plays games with my head. I decided to only weigh once a week. I think it really helps. When I weigh every day I lose track of how far I’ve come.
