What was your pre-op bmi? if you don't mind me asking.:phanvan It seems like,and I may be wrong about this, but it seems like weight loss rate has a great deal to do with your starting condition. omigosh!! i am terribly excited, and you know how i was so very NOT nervous? well, someone posted something that has made me nervous. lets just start by saying i am mildly claustrophobic...UNDERSTATEMENT!! that said, i am, all of the sudden, feeling nervous about how the band will feel in my body. I am terribly afraid that I will be so aware of it--constantly--that I may end up hurting myself trying to get it out in a panic attack. I went through the same thing when I wore braces as a teen, somehow i made it through that so surely i can do this. i still have horrible dreams about my braces being on my teeth and noone will take them off, and i resort to plyers---AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! I have a deep down feeling that this is the evil spawn of my claustrophobia issues.

My problem is that once I drink a glass of Water, the first drink of the second glass GAGS me. I cannot do water without the crystal light!! I don't know if it counts the same if I flavor the water. Does anyone have any advice on this? I hope this is a legitimate question to add to this thread. If not, just let me know and I will start a new one.

It is really more common than you know. I had a former co-worker with the same condition. I am glad you were able to get to the bottom of the mystery pain! You are not a wimp, pain or otherwise. You voluntarily had this procedure done, and I am doing it too...so we all know it takes courage to do that!! ((HUGS))

well, i hear bubbles "fizzing" when I shake my bottled water and crystal light on the go, but i am pretty sure it is not carbonated....

i am lucky, as i do not have to have any pre-op testing done. i am sure they will order some blood work next week or so. i have to call them on Monday, March 6, 2006. good luck, leenerbups, we can think of each other on our drive to the surgery!!

I will go under the influence of the lap band on March 13. That is one week from this monday or 11 days. I CANNOT wait. I think I might have an anxiety breakdown counting down the days!!!:paranoid

I work for the State of Texas, and, yes, if you plan to take time using FMLA, you must submit a doctors statement indicating a description of sorts. I do not recall the exact wording of the policy, but it is fairly specific. This is legal and written into the state government agency's departmental HR policy. The State further goes on to define FMLA absence to begin upon completion of the 3rd day of sick leave. After the third day, you must have a statement from your doctor describing your condition and granting a full release in order to return to work. None of us, supervisor or underdogs, like this policy. Since we police ourselves, we apply a broad interpretation of the policy. Luckily, HR does not push us that much. I have good doctors, and they know how to write these letters without divulging my personal information to the gossip mongrel clerks in the HR typing pool. Don't ask me how the State gets away with this. I worked shift work for five years with this Agency, without a single break. Class-action lawsuits filed and lost, repeatedly. Go Figure.

It has come to my attention that there are some mommies out there who may not know the most important lyrics to the Dora the Explorer song. Dr. Spivak is doing my surgery on March 13. He even let me schedule before he had the money in his hand. Sister, I have not read a single negative report about this man. He was running late the day of my consult, and he also had a seminar scheduled. He came in and sat with me, patiently answering ALL of my questions, and even played with my 3 year old daughter for a minute. We had a nice little visit. When I left the office, there were about 15-20 people waiting for the seminar to start, it was scheduled to start at 1 pm, it was about 1:20 or so when we left. He sat patiently through all of my questions, knowing that he had 15-20 potention patients(customers) waiting on him. The seminar was late starting due to the time he spent with ME! At no time did I feel rushed, or unwelcomed. He is a genuine, kind man. And I have only met him this one time! Good luck on your adventure, maybe all of us on here who post regular will meet up for a fill at the surgery center!!
