Don't feel bad, with the band, you should lose 1-2 lbs per week, and it looks to me that you are ahead of schedule. You are doing GREAT @ 23 lbs in 2 months!! I think this happens to a lot more of us that you would think. look at me for example...i was 207 at consult, 203 on surgery day, which was march 13, and today i am at 195/196. Forget turtle's pace, I am a snail. But I just keep reminding myself that as long as I live by the band's rules, I will eventually lose the weight. I have decided not to over-analyze until i am at least 6-8 months out. Then I will take stock, and determine what my next step will be, whether it is changing everything, or continueing what I have been doing. Rest assured that this will happen, maybe not overnight, maybe not in 2 or 4 months, but it will happen. I just look at it like this...I have lost 11 pounds since february, and not gained it back. that is the best i have ever done...i mean i have certainly LOST more weight than that in a smaller amount of time, but within 3 months, i had always gained it back with a little extra. My 11 lbs and your 23 lbs, are gone for good!! bye bye hoohoo see-ya!! Hang in there Sister, and any time you need support, just holler. You are going to do fine.

HOW CAN YOU CRITICIZE THE MODERATORS FOR RUNNING THE BOARD IN THE MANNER THAT YOU AGREED TO ABIDE BY WHEN YOU SIGNED UP??? IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, THERE ARE OTHER BOARDS, OR WAYS YOU MAY START YOUR OWN BOARD. WE ARE THE GUESTS OF THE MODERATORS, WE ARE IN THEIR DOMAIN. IF WE WANT TO PLAY ON LBT, THEN WE HAVE TO PLAY BY THEIR RULES. EMPHASIS ON RULE #5: 5. Moderators will take a hands-off approach in general. The owners of LapBandTalk.com - Lap Band Talk Forum reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason. (rule #5 doesn't appear to have an appeal process) I still love everybody, I just wish this would hurry up and pass. This reminds me of being constipated. It is really making my a$$ hurt.

i dont remember the eating becoming a problem as much as i recall my weight paranoya (spelling? i am an idiot). i was at the doctors office, with mom and brothers. one of my little brother's was sick. i stepped on the scales, and was proud that i weighed 100 lbs. i felt like i was growing, and wow i even made it to 100 lbs. mommy, look how big i am now!! OMIGOD VERONICA!! (she called me that when i was in trouble) I cannot believe you weigh 100 lbs already. She said, "I was a good 13 or 14 years old before i hit a hundred pounds." For the first time ever, i was ashamed of my weight. I was 10 years old. From then on, I hid each pound that i gained from my mother, and my friends, and my teachers, and my doctors, yes my doctors. I would do things like fast, thinking i could make my self weigh less by the time of the medical appointment. I was a cheerleader, and gained 10 lbs my senior year in highschool. i was a whopping 123lbs after the massive gain. My size 5 cheerleading uniform was getting so tight that i could not pull it over my hips to put it on, i had to put it on over my head and shoulders. I still had a 25 inch waist, all of my weight was in my hips/thighs. Mom reminded me with each bite that one more pound, and i would not have a uniform to wear. Dear MOM, i love her, and if she could change it, i amsure she would, but i really think this behavior from my mom is the reason i have not been able to maintain my weight. Cant blame her entirely, but that was a huge incident in my life. i wish i was a fat girl who thought she was skinny. Now i am not even making sense. well, that was my story.

to anyone reading this who wants to smash DeLarla: This is my favorite place on the www. DeLarla is completely justified in sharing her experience with anyone who wants to read. I definitely wanted to read DeLarla's posts. From the first night I logged on to this community...before I was banded...I sought out all of Delarla's posts. I wanted to know EXACTLY how I could feel if I got this band, then lost it. I looked at the before and after pics, the success stories, the struggles of complications, recovery from complications, emotional trauma caused by the band, emotional trauma relieved by the band, I wanted to know the good, the bad, and the ugly. When all was said and done, i made a decision that i have no second thoughts about. DeLarla contributed to that decision. She helped me prepare. I appreciated her lines, dotted with her charm, churned with her intellect, and TWISTED with her sense of humor...LO friggin L. While some people may not like what she had to say, it was true for her. And if someday I find myself in her shoes, i bet i will sound a lot like her. well, minus the charm...and the intellect...and the twisted sense--maybe i could pull off the sense of humor part. so, ok, i hope that i with this post i can help neutralize this drama. DeLarla is right, if you already know that you won't like what she has to say, then don't read it. If you choose to read it, and then you dont like what you just read...well, go to the next thread. that is what i do. works for me...but i AM just a simple lil ol texas girl...or gril as my kids say... YEEEEEEEHAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW

my doc listed fish as a mushy food. also, i will let you know, my surgeon is dr. spivak,(houston,tx) and his office released me to begin solids just past my second week post-op. i was reminded at the visit to chew well, and to only eat the amount of food that would fit in one 8oz cup. I think i had originally been prescribed mushies for 4 weeks or so. it is hard to recall as they did not hold me to the original plan. i had absolutely NO problems with solids. i was very paranoid though, and chewed chewed chewed. the food might as well have been mushy. by the time i finished chewing, it wasn't even enjoyable anymore. good luck.

I am looking at getting life insurance for the first time in my life. I have been looking at the "Return of Premium" policies. Does anyone have any advice on this topic? 32,f,nonsmoker

YellowRose, I hope all is well for you. Is everything approved with the new surgeon yet? I know how important this is for you. I waited 2 years trying to decide if this was right for me and how in the world could i get it done. Once i decided i wanted to do it, time stood still. Rest assured that if you are committed to having this done, it will happen. I am losing very slowly, but definitly NOT gaining. This is the best thing I have ever done. All the trouble will be worthwhile once you are banded.
