    Lap Band And Your Family

I've always tried to feed my little girl as healthily as possible. She is still young. Since banding, we eat more of the same foods. No more drive-thru while my daughter sucks down a plate of steamed broccoli and chicken. We share the broccoli now. DH still eats crud-in-a-box, lousy, skinny, freak! :puke:

    hunger survey for my info

Today, I was hungry, but didn't really want to eat anything. I loved it. Then I cooked up a stir-fry. When I am good and tight right after a fill, thick fluids like protein shake and V-8 linger long enough to make me feel "full" for about ten minutes at a time. You are an intelligent, articulate woman. If you had to guess...where would you look first? My weakness is water, every time someone mentions it I feel like I am being scolded in Kindergarten. It's MY biggest hurdle. I KNOW that if I had someone whose job it was to make sure I got my 64oz/day, I'd have dropped twice the weight I have thus far. I also graze on occasion which makes it a lot harder to count calories. When I feel like I am not paying close enough attention, I log back into FitDay.com and track for a week or two. If I was in your position having spent the last "almost three" years fighting for success, I would (just me here) camp out in the docs office, chart my calories/mealtimes, and conference with the "team" to problem-solve. It is your job to work the band, if you are, and it's not working. Hand a big chunk of the responsibility to the people who get paid to help you succeed. Much respect and admiration for anyone fighting an uphill battle for so long. Take care, and keep us posted.

So glad I stopped back in! Those comics are adorably irreverant! I didn't want to ignore you, l.a. susan, since there was much thought put into your post. I am going to edit for brevity, K? You are right when you say that this thread is lacking support, ESPECIALLY for the newly banded. This is the LBT Rants and Raves Forum Gripe, complain, moan, fight, rant and rave. Enter at your own risk. This means that your post was in the right section, too. I started this train wreck as a simple question because I noticed that I was "Killing" my fair share of threads. I thought that it had potential to offend some, so I put it here. It evolved into 30+ pages of jokes about the process, jokes about each other, but mostly jokes about ourselves. It is OK if you aren't there yet. Did you get a chance to read the whole thing? I appreciate that you are refraining from assessing our collective personality by what you have found in this forum. The hard core support is in the Introductions, Complications, Exercise, and General forums. This one is where we go to let our minds roll in the gutter, discuss politics, and heaven forbid, religion. WELCOME!! You are always welcome here, but if it gets too hairy for you, you might want to rethink Rants and Raves. I am more than willing to support the heck out of you (((l.a. susan))) <- those are hugs. Please don't let anything we type to amuse ourselves, hurt you! Out of respect for the uniqueness of the weirdos I am lucky to call bandster buddies, I have to stand by this thread. I had a lot of fun with it. I am sorry you found it hurtful. Brenda

    The worst analogies ever...

The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn't. I think this is the worst one so far. It isn't really funny and doesn't serve to illustrate a point.

    The worst analogies ever...

Too cute! Well maybe not numbers two and three...ick. Just ick. Wait, number one is pretty gross too.

What happens during a full moon?

Back when I worked for the county we would get at least one new patient every full moon. There are lots of theories, but if people believe the moon changes behaviors...it will. Plus, teenagers are a little more likely to get into trouble because of the extra light at night.
  8. Also, Cashley, if you are looking for motivation to do the research try Beliefnet http://beliefnet.com . I haven't been there in a long time, but I really enjoyed the debates, groups, and discussions. Just being able to really see what the various religions teach is enlightening. Several years ago it inspired me to continue my education.

    I am Just a SeaMonkey

See I know that anything I type just gets launched into the void, drifting in space like a SeaMonkey in a fishbowl. It may offend, inspire, or amuse the other SeaMonkeys but at the end of the day there will be no political reform, coup d'etat, or religious restructuring. The fishbowl belongs to Alex and he could easily pour a little Clorox into the bowl if we get out of hand. All this has been said before, but I thought it would be nice to have an oasis for the peaceful, fun loving SeaMonkeys to come and float in peace. Today's topic will be: Children's TV programming from the 70's and 80's If someone comes to defecate in this pond or to bite the other monkeys, I will request a lock.

Awwww. Thanks Dawg. Your Momma.. right back at ya! What are YOU doing on vacation? Does 3Loves know? Oh, and even though I wanted to hate this post, it was pretty right on. I was a Mental Health Counselor before Mommyhood. And who would object to being labeled a genius (probably an actual genius). Is it dead yet? N-E-V-E-R ! ! <- that might kill it.

    Tofu

I used to blend it into cream dressing powders like Uncle Dan's/Hidden Valley Ranch instead of mayo. It was a little gritty, but SO much healthier.

Yeah, I'm bringing it up again

*calling for FunnyDuddies* Look, we are calmer now! Come on back!
  15. Morsaille

Yeah, I'm bringing it up again

Tee Hee, silly Telly! So relieved to see this is turning into a happy thread. Oh, and my mom won't even drink Chianti after seeing the movie, not that she ever knew what fava beans were..
  16. Morsaille

Yeah, I'm bringing it up again

PUT THE LOTION IN THE F***ING BASKET!!
  17. Sounds like you may never have had a good game of Pirates! What about an eye patch? Hey GonnaDoIt, I suggest a few gold-wrapped chocolate coins! :pirate It was a great weekend *big sigh*

    I am Just a SeaMonkey

Here's a question: Does anyone remember a show called "Boomerang"? It was a puppet show with a woman named Marnie. I even remember snippets of the theme song... Must have been the late 70's? One of the puppets was named Norbert. Weird memory. My DH is convinced that they will try and bring back the Monchichi's(sp?) like they tried with Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite. I think I must be sick to remember all this stuff...

We watch Fraggle Rock all the time! My little girl is addicted to the DVD we found in the Walmart discount bin. She asks to watch "Tickle Rocks" at least twice a week and she kisses all the "Doozer-bugs". And the Muppet Show, I forgot all about the Muppet Show! Jim Henson was amazing!

..and Space Ghost, too. Which I didn't like because I had been born a girl *tsk tsk*

Don't see why not. Good stuff? My local NPR used to do radio shows up until a few years ago. I loved them.

    I am Just a SeaMonkey

My DH couldn't believe that I hadn't heard of of the Sid & Marty Krofft shows, so we rented them on Netflix... 20 years too late. I probably would have liked them when I was younger. OK, Sigmund was a little bit cute. I was a cartoon lover: Smurfs, Snorks, and Scooby Doo. We watched Little House every Sunday before church. Most of our TV time was PBS, so as a kid I loved Mr. Wizard. Is this topic dry? Want a new one? How about favorite vacation ever? We can still list or favorite kid shows too... Lets stretch and see if we can do two topics at once.

    Leak?

Although they "prime" the band and tubing with saline prior to surgery I have read that a .5cc variance is acceptable. My last fill they were able to remove 1.0cc even though I was only supposed to have 0.8cc at the time. Sorry for all the leaking ports! WOW! Definitely get a fluoro DrewsLou, my second fill was actually an unfill. They drew out my fill but were not in the port to give back the fluid. Expensive mistakes..the fluoro is worth it. As far as slow leaks.. I have heard they can use Omnipaque as a fill, it is thick and less likely to leak. It's use may nullify the Inamed warranty though.
