Thought it would be nice to find out about local bandster bonding. I am in Bremerton but am willing to travel to Tacoma or Olympia on occasion. Even if we just got together for coffee (or tea)... Structured support groups are nice, but are they FUN? Please chime in and share what you do to stay connected.

Females Only:Anyone have an IUD???

No side effects, and I know side effects. I had lots of trouble on the pill. Have you had kids? I had mine inserted at my 6 week post-partum visit. That could be why I had no major pain, my cervix had been forewarned. I have never tried the patch. I heard it wasn't as effective for bigger gals. -
does anyone else spit in a cup?????????
Morsaille replied to lorihou's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yup! I am a big spitter. It is more socially acceptable for me to use an opaque cup and a straw. I use the straw to scrape so there are no spit threads of embarrassment. For me to swallow would be inviting a foamy PB (productive burp) I try and keep one in the car. -
I didn't do a seminar. I can see your point about the "herd" mentality. Changing a briefing about a life-saving medical procedure into a timeshare sales-pitch... ick. When I did my sleep study, it was to determine if I had obstructive sleep apnea. I did. While I was waiting, insurance added an exclusion for Obesity and related services. The OSA diagnosis only strengthens your case for insurance coverage. If you are self-pay...you could skip it. I went self-pay after the exclusion was added. No regrets. The hardest part for me was just making friends with the "F" word. When I could admit to myself (denial queen) that I was fat, it got so much easier to take the steps. One at a time. I cried at times, go ahead... you won't be the first, or the last.

Females Only:Anyone have an IUD???
Morsaille replied to housecatgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have Mirena. It has been the tidiest 3 years of my adult life! I "spot" for a day or so every two months. Insertion smarts a little (take some Tylenol beforehand if possible) and cramps for a little while the same day. Then you are worry free. -
PB means Productive Burp. Since the pouch produces very little stomach acid, emptying it is much different than vomiting in the traditional sense. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=7959 This thread has them all! Welcome aboard!

Tim, if you like Dr. Fox, you should have him do your follow-up stuff/fills. He charges just over $400 for a first fill and then they go down to $200 something. I think he still does them "blind" or without fluoroscopy. As far as I know, Dr. Neal in Olympia is the only fluoro fill in the area. He charges $350 per fill. Congrats on finding a surgeon. Take care, I am sure you will do great! Brenda
