I had reflux before surgery. After VSG I had reflux and my doctor told me to take over the counter medication for it. I’m now 3 1/2 months post op and no more reflux. I don’t take anything. The surgery healed me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I can relate. I ate so horribly before surgery because I felt like I was never going to be able to eat those foods again. My doctor warned me of this but it didn’t stop me. Now that I am about 3 months post VSG I can eat whatever I want (in small portions). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The thought of a catheter.. scary!
greensmoothie replied to Ed_NW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon did not use a catheter, thank God! I had one in the past for child birth. It doesn’t hurt. For me it was a mental block. It’s the process of getting it placed and removed, the thought of it and knowing it’s there that I can’t tolerate. But if you have to have it done it’s not actually painful. Good luck! Blood thinner injections
greensmoothie replied to mousecat88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor allowed me to take the shots in my arm instead of my stomach. After having abdominal surgery I couldn’t mentally handle taking daily injections in the same region. I have a phobia about needles so my husband gave me the shots. I found the shots to be uncomfortable and my arm was sore afterwards. I don’t think I had any bruising. I focused on how important the shots were to avoid pulmonary embolisms to get me through it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Non Plain Water Drink Choices
greensmoothie replied to Gr8Mom's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I drank Low Sugar Apple Juice, Gatorade, Crystal Light and chamomile tea. For some unknown reason I had a hard time with plain water after surgery. I’m almost 3 months out now and can drink water just fine. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Terrified of puréed phase
greensmoothie replied to kaleeshab's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am about 6 weeks post sleeve surgery. It was really hard to tolerate anything other than jello and broth at first. I never hit the protein and water daily goals. I struggled to keep a lot of foods I tried down (TMI - I vomited a lot). I spoke with my doctor about it and he said to focus on water goals and reduced the water goal to 40 ounces per day. When I had an aversion to water he said I could hit my liquid goals with Gatorade, crystal light and the like. So long story short ... I stayed on liquids a little longer despite being able to go to soft foods. Despite these food plans that say you can eat X on a certain date, you know your body and what you are ready to eat. I think it’s good to take it slow. If something doesn’t work then try it again later on down the road. Like I said in the beginning of this post, I am six weeks out. Today I can eat and drink almost anything now without any issue. As your stomach heals it gets better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Has anyone tried any types of bread??
greensmoothie replied to likehasjustbegun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also believe in balance and not having “forbidden foods.” I am a little over 1 month post op and just ate a whole wheat wrap with some chicken, cheese and avocado for lunch. I could only eat a few bites (about 1/3 of it). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

WHAT made you choose YOUR SURGEON?
greensmoothie replied to Frustr8's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
My surgeon had the gastric sleeve surgery. He gives all of his patients his personal cell number so you can text him with any questions, any time of the day or night. He knows exactly what I am going through, having experienced it himself. This is why I chose him and I was not disappointed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Anyone experience Post-op cycle changes
greensmoothie replied to Frmamomzeyez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This happened to me, sort of. Because of my birth control, I normally skip/don’t have a period. After surgery I got an untimely period. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
How long did someone help you at home after surgery?
greensmoothie replied to MK686's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had help the entire time from my husband. I have a needle phobia so I needed someone to give me the injection that prevents blood clots. I also needed help with my toddler. My doctor said I could not lift him into the bath tub (for example). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I’m also having trouble with my chewable vitamins. I’ve had a few days where I couldn’t keep it down. Does anyone have a recommendation? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Same here with regard to the chewable vitamins. I have been liquefying my vitamins by crushing them and adding a little water. I bought the unjury chewable vitamins and I can’t tolerate how sweet they are.... it’s like a sweet tart candy which would normally be great. However, post sleeve my tastebuds can’t handle it.
