  1. Happy 45th Birthday Joylaniss!

  2. Happy 44th Birthday Joylaniss!

  3. I actually went in for my second fill today. The PA put 2ccs in, for a total of 4.5ccs. Now my band is half-full. I hope I feel restriction, because it scares me that the LapBand brand has 10-14ccs, and RealizeBand only has 9ccs, which is the one I have, since Dr. G prefers the RealizeBand.

I'm SO hungry, it's ridiculous. I'm supposed to be on full liquids for 24 hours, but I'm longing for a "turkey and cheese roll-up". (Just a slice of cheese and 2 slices of deli-cut turkey, rolled up... my grandma used to make them for me when I was a wee kid.)

  4. The x-ray fill was almost a disaster too, because Dr. G's asst. tried it first and had no success, so they had to call in the Dr. G and was able to do the fill. I feel some restriction, but would like more. I know exactly how you feel - some days I can't eat that much and some days I can eat more. I lost a total of 25 lbs and really want this weight lost to get going faster. I go back for my second fill 4/8/09. When are you going back for the 2nd fill? I hope you had fun on spring break. Keep me updated and I'll to do the same.

  5. Sorry that I went MIA! I'm down at Nags Head in the OBX for Spring Break and finally had a chance to sit down and look to LBT for inspiration and motivation. My weight-loss has come to a stand-still. I'm right around the 30lbs mark, but I've been there since a week or two after surgery. I first went on the liquid diet December 2nd for surgery 12/15, but hadta be rescheduled due to an outbreak of MRSA. So I was on a liquid diet all of December, which was the reason for the majority of my weight-loss.

I feel a little bit of restriction from my first fill, but I cant wait til my second! My portion sizes change on a daily basis. Sometimes I'll eat half a burrito or a slice of pizza and be stuffed beyond capacity. But other days, I'll eat some pasta and grilled veggies and have no problem consuming well over that 1-cup marker.

How'd the X-Ray fill go? How terrifying!!!

  6. It was a long process because Dr. G could not seem to find my port. I have to go Mercy tomorrow to have my fill done under an x-ray. I was so disgusted - we'll see what happens tomorrow. Are you feeling any restrictions and how much weight have you lost so far? I hope all is well with you and i'll keep you updated.

  7. Hi! Thank for finding me on LBT! My first fill went alright. I was more wary of Dr. Gersin making me lift my legs in the air in a semi-crunch so he could poke around my tender tummy to find the port. The lidocaine wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but I swear the needle was in me for what seemed like forever! I dont remember it being like that pre-IV before surgery. Then I thought I'd pass out with the actual saline part. I mean, technically I couldn't "feel" it, but I have an overactive imagination and I could practically "see" what was going on, though I was looking the other way, biting my hand to avert the nerves. I guess it went well, but I felt weird about the whole process. I hope I reach my "sweet spot" within a couple fills, because I dont to keep going through that over and over. Guhh!

    3 days post op, update

    - I was banded on 1/15/09 and so far so good. Pre-op I was at 316 and the day of surgery I was 299 - (lost 17 pounds. Now I'm 3 days post-op and feeling ok. (now at 291) I had really bad gas pains in my chest. I've been living on gas-x strips and peppermint tea. I did have 1 scrambled egg this morning with a little shredded cheese and feel ok. Do anyone have trouble when swallowing - getting integestion?

    noob

we are both in the same boat. I had to lose 14 pounds and have been struggling trying to lose it since March. Well, I decided to ask my doctor to prescribe me some appetite suppresants and he did. He prescribed phentermine at the end of July and I went to the doctor today and lost 9 pounds, so I only have 5 pounds to go. The pills helps a lot with your appetite and I started walking on my treadmill about 3 to 4 times a week. I am determined to lose this last 5 pounds, because I want my lapband sooner than later. talk to your doctor and good luck.

    ugh!! Quitting Smoking!!!

I hope this give you some encouragement to quit smoking. I started my journey for lap band the first of March, 2008. When they told me I had to quit smoking 3 months before surgery, I thought to myself do I really want this surgery or do I want to continue killing myself with food and cigarettes. I was a smoker for over 20 years. I decided on March 10, 2008 which was 5 days after my initial appointment to quit cold turkey. To God be the glory, I had not picked up a cigarette in over 6 weeks. I knew that God can do more for me than any patch or nicorette gum, so I gave it a try - PRAYER, PRAYER, PRAYER. It worked. Now when I have a doctor's appt. I am sooooo proud to tell them that I have quit smoking for good. There comes a time in our life that we have to make decisions to change. I will pray for your strength and if God can take smoking from me, He will do the same for you. Good Luck!!! P.S. You have to hear Dr. Oz (from Oprah Winfrey show) talk about the effects of smoking and that might help you as well. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
