8 days post op & barely feeling the restriction I felt even two days ago. Normal?
GeminiSky replied to JessiG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im only 3 days out post op and I can take down 2OZ of protein water like a pro. I got to the cottage cheese and chewed that up hardcore but even at the same 2OZ I got so full it made my eyes cross. -
Scared of Over Exertion - Am I doing too much?
GeminiSky replied to GeminiSky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OH YEAH! I saw that post you did earlier about the log roll I totally tried it and its fantastic. I wish my bed was lower set, I have a pretty high up bed due to the pillow top and memory foam. Either way it works. Plus im getting upper body strength going here with utilizing that only and no core at the moment. I had a morphine pain pump and used that a lot while I was there. Come to find out im allergic to it, I started itching later the next morning. They had to give me some benadryl. My sister is also allergic which I find kinda weird, maybe its just my family and genetics. TY3 is what im taking now and it definitely works. Im pretty happy about it. No nausea medications for me either. I can keep food down, water down, im pretty lucky with that. Ive seen all the issues people have run into with anesthesia and I didn't get nauseated. I will say before I went in I was having sinus issues, and when I came out I had lots of phlem and I started using my spirometer like crazy. I called my drs office and asked them how much I have to use it. Hes like for you 4x each hour. Im like ok, and I do it 10x LOL! -
Scared of Over Exertion - Am I doing too much?

May I ask what they sent you home with? I have the Tylenol 3 (with codeine) they also called me in some relaxants but I feel like they are too big to take so im going to bring them up there with me and ask. The T3 definitely works. I take it every four hours at the moment. I might move it right before bed so I can sleep with it. Did you have to wear plasmaflow boots while sleeping? I have those too. Kinda crazy that you didnt have to take them much at the beginning. I figured most people would have the same amount of irritation, swelling and pain as what Im feeling atm. -

@Matt Z Hi Matt! Thanks for chiming in! I think im just being a baby whiner and expect to be some type of super human with crazy awesome healing powers. Possibly just my mind giving me a hard time thinking im some type of useless blob at the moment. I do get up and walk around, will hop on my treadmill later today for about 5 mins here and there. I walked to the parking garage today! Moved my car to empty the trash (which wasnt heavy it was very light) so I was super proud of myself. I figured the incisions will be there a while. I guess the main thing im concerned about is pain and swelling. Im kinda embarrassed because I think my surgeons office is like "is she serious right now"? With some of the things I said LOL! -
OMG thank you for this! Im going to try it!

TBH I havent got tons of sleep since the surgery. Im highly annoyed but im sure this will pass once I hit the 7 day mark? UH!

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
GeminiSky replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! My surgery was 7:30am on 7/30 (so 2 days tomorrow is the 3rd day) and im going to keep trying to lay in my bed. Im exhausted and the couch isnt good for me to lay on, nor is my other chair. Im in pain definitely on the left hand side big time. Just feels "tight", lots of noise going on here too when I drink my protein/water/1oz of food its like the noises from Jurassic Park. I wish I was at 8 days. Ive been having a bit of buyers remorse seeing im trying my best to keep up with the water intake, walking while in pain, trying not to pass out at my computer seeing that I need a healing place to lay and its going to be my bed. I guess im just worried that Im going to pull something inside if I have to keep trying to get off the bed. Im definitely incredibly much more sore and swollen from the inside than my incisions. How were you the first 2-4 days? I wont lie im upset with how slow im healing but im just impatient. I had RNY, haital hernia repair and I have a drain too which annoys the living crap outta me. That gets taken out 8/7/18. -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
GeminiSky replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cant wait for this magical day! After tomorrow we have 2 days. Im dying to sleep in my bed I just look at it and start thinking how wonderful it will be to get outta bed with no pain. My left side hurts way too much to get my ass off the bed correctly. I can lay down just fine but getting up almost requires a full barrel roll off the side. I def have pain on my whole left side from the RNY and my hiatal hernia repair and I have a drain there too well upper esophagus area. I bought some chewable gas-x also took that this morning. So far so good had a huge passing of gas thank god a little earlier. I did make the mistake of weighing myself too many fluids going through the body at the moment. I weighed more when I came in. About 4 pounds up now. -
Day 3 tomorrow im really excited to move past this pain, gas, bloaty bloat bloat puffer fish syndrome. I have some swelling around the main incision where he did all his work but apparently thats normal. He came in and met with me before the discharge looked at it and felt around it. All my incisions are glued so that was nice. I went home and took my first shower, not a full on shower, but enough to get clean and I had to be careful around the drain that I have still. However its day 2 and I got in two toddler size spoonfulls of small curd cottage cheese omg it was super tasty.

Im dying to sleep in my bed but it was too much of a pain to get out of the bed. Getting in it was no problem but out nope! It hurt bad too so im forced to sleep in my chair now with some pillows and a blanket going to move my cpap machine to the living room too. I swear any place isnt good for me to sleep. I wish I had one of those amazing hospital chair/beds they have. Those were so nice. I could lift and lower, sit up move around pretty decently.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
GeminiSky replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Uh god this liquid acetaminop-codeine is GROSS! Trying to get that down to reduce incision swelling and areas around the main incision. Man is it DISGUSTING! -
Might be TMI but I havent had any gas except for burping, and my BM's have been basically water/runny/diarrhea.
-
I also have glue on my incisions I took a shower when I got out of the hospital but I have a drain which is situated right in between my "girls" just a little lower and over to the left where the esophagus meets the stomach. Its super annoying! It swings a lot and just is a royal PITA. Gauze and surgical tape cover it and Im documenting how much fluid is coming out and when I dump it. Getting up and walking is a pain in the ass too. I guess I can increase my walking times since 30-45 mins x2. My mom helped me turn my treadmill back on since you cant do diddly squat right now only a few days post op. The gas is so annoying. I did get some chewable gas X since I wasnt able to find the strips and chewed that into a straight watery liquid so that might help a little. Im going to get on my treadmill and try to walk out this gas UH!

Was wondering what your doctor prescribed for pain medication after surgery? I'm a little concerned because after the surgery you can't really take any pills. So far i've hard tylenol elixir with codeine is the normality?
-
Omg same. Really bad pains in the left side and now up my back shoulder. Taking meds. burping a lot, etc. My surgery was 2 days ago on 7/30, just can't wait to get healed up and be out of this "pain"stage. Im exhausted too I want to sleep ASAP. Choking down the meds liquid tylonal with codiene is YUCK!

Pain Meds for Post OP
GeminiSky replied to GeminiSky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Was just discharged earlier today. They put me on liquid Ty w/codiene, and also Flexeril muscle relaxer. -
Surgery is done (7/30) was released earlier today. Will say that morphine pump was amazing, except that I got a little itchy from it. I sit here writing this waking up from a few hours sleep. The pain is real, but I think its just gas. I didnt have much in my shoulder but I can feel it from time to time. Have my plasmaflow boots on right now for circulation of the calves probably going to do laps in my kitchen until my family members come over and flip the switch on my treadmill, cant reach it and certainly not with the gas bubble in my side or my drain. I actually have a drain and its right in between the "girls". Really want this to come out but it will come out in a week. Pain Meds: Acetaminop-Codiene (liquid 15ML) I have an RX for muscle relaxers too which Ill end up filling soon enough. Sipping on my water while taking my meds. In a little bit im going to water down a protein supplement and sip on that too. I cant wait to get past the gas phase and just general pain. How fast was your pain gone everyone? about a week? couple of days? Throat is a bit sore too from the anesthesia and oxygen tube. ACK

GeminiSky replied to Luzbella's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes I have to force myself to drink my shakes now. I think its because you get so used to the taste and sick of drinking the same thing over and over. One day I didnt drink any at all because the thought of it just turned me off entirely. I also have OCD and its to the point that I get angry as hell if im not in control of something lol! Believe me I understand. Monday is my date too, I will arrive at 5:30am 2 hours ahead of time since they require that, and my surgery is 7:30am. You excited? Im kind of nervous
